loco dices desolat label welcomes uk artist waff for its next ep, a meaty four tracker by the name of hanzz sup. in recent times, waff has really established himself as one of the beacons of main room house and techno around the world. from standout sets at key ibiza clubs to gigs at fabric, london via big underground hits on labels like drumcode, cocoon and hot creations, he is a real man of the moment. the title track opens the ep in fine style with hulking great big kicks reverberating down low as wonky tones and scattered percussion add more heat. barreling along and taking no prisoners, it is a hugely physical drum track with spoken word mutterings piling on the pressure. making just as big an impression but in less direct ways, the shuffling and bubbling karimba is a skittish, busy affair with tribal drums and vocal chants all layered up into something that is sure to become anthemic in ibiza this summer. on the flip side hypnotised works on getting into your brain with tight, scurrying drum and percussive patterns that never let up. its a dense, busy arrangement that makes for a high octane ride. last of all inception takes on more of a house feel, with well swung, low slung drums bringing the groove as hammering hits and frosty synth lines keep busy up top. this is house and techno that makes a big impact from one of the most on point producers out there right now.

pavel ludin returns to poker flat wax with a gripping four-tracker showcasing his myriad of talents. born and raised in eastern siberia, pavel iudin found his way to the underground scenes of moscow and saint petersburg where he firmly established his credentials. the probe ep finds him at the height of his powers, serving up some serious burners. ‘probe 2&#8242,,,, is a throbbing, deep roller with shimmering synths and a shuffling, evolving groove - one for keeping the floor on lock whatever the situation. ‘halo’ has more classic feel to it, clearly a nod to the chicago masters of the 90s, but maintaining a tough and fresh feel that is all ludin’s own. half way though, things really open up into thick, swingy vibe via a killer bassline and snappy percussion. ‘probe 3&#8242,,,, is more acidic outing - although never resorting to the iconic 303, the track is a lysergic journey into dubbed out tech-house. closing out the ep is ‘groundlevel’ - a driving, loopy groover that uses ludin’s feel for atmosphere and tension to the max. the whole ep exudes a steely-eyed mastery of the studio and the dance floor - making pavel iudin one to watch over the next months.

this june session victim return to delusions of grandeur imprint with their third studio album.listen to your heartis the result of a year of cross-continental scripting, started in their hamburg studio and wrapped up stateside in san francisco’s room g studios where the duo had worked on their 2014 lpsee you when you get there. here we present the first of three lp samplers containing four tracks each, cut nice and loud for the vinyl crew. bring it back gets things rolling with session victim’s trademark live drum breaks, looped up pads and hooky vocal samples. only good vibes here, with uplifting keys bringing a warm and soulful edge whilst shimmering juno notes add a floaty element to get lost in. next up we have if we can make it here, the title being something of an in-joke with the boys when they find themselves in the more remote or far-flung corners of the world performing their music to an appreciating crowd. the track is based around a simple yet beautiful 4-bar chord progression repeating throughout and shows svm in a playful and jazzy mood, managing to include soloing flute and marching snare drum rhythms without as much of a flinch!moons and flowers is up next, another sublime slice of hazy house music with a wonderful organic and live sound palette. echoing rhodes licks join dubby synth fx, adding waves of colour whilst the gentle vocal provides the icing on the space-cake. lastly we have the hatch, which winds things down somewhat for a lovely, somewhat stoned interlude track which is over all too soon. an impeccable demonstration of retro-inspired yet forward thinking house,listen to your heartsees session victim at the top of their game.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

next up on accidental jnr are 2 club ready tracks from sydney producer cassius select that straddle genres somewhere between techno, bassline and hardcore. 90 is a gurgling brutal post-dubstep wobble fest at a house tempo whilst herd offers up select’s trademark idiosyncratic vocal snippets wrapped up in most broken and shuffled of techno rhythm . cassius select lives in the undefined sonic boroughs of the hardcore continuum. his first ep explored the grittier end of techno under australian label hunter gatherer followed by a 12- of unstable rhythm workouts under dj haus’ uttu label. the toronto native is hell bent on inciting movement in the most unorthodox ways. sonics crush genre-defining sounds into a pastiche of cryptic one liners and side eyes. drums that invoke an impossible sense of swing and momentum. most importantly select’s sound defines itself on the mission to deconstruct the world around him,to level out the playing field so everyone can have a bite. this year, select joins with uk imprint accidental jr. to release a two-track fury of sound that snarls with every grimace.

next up on detroit wax is a phenomenal two track ep from the prolific eddie fowlkes(techno originator - godfather of techno soul). renowned for their ability to seamlessly fuse together elements of urban techno & urban house and old school funky influences, and the dj production from the home land of detroit. side a. a deep vocals from naa dee(from the lu, swiss) has soulful ness that heats up the track into inspirational movement on the dance floor that just don t stop on the dance floor. side (b). this is a surefire dancefloor detroit destroyer that would be right at home in any dj s create already gaining heavyweight support from the likes of loco dice, norm tally, robert diezt, juan atkins, delano smith, shall i continue?
