gravetemple was formed in 2006 as a side-project of the band sunn o))) by oren ambarchi, stephen o malley and attila csihar. the group formed initially to tour in israel summer 06, creating several recordings which eventually became the holy down album, which was released on southern lord recordings in 2007. at the time of the israel tour, the lebanon war started and was in action. in summer 08 the trio reformed together with the addition of australian drummer matt skitz sanders for a short european tour culminating at a headlining performance at supersonic festival in birmingham. in late 2009 the original trio reconvened for a special one-off concert at londons institute of contemporary arts. april 2013 marks the first set of live action since that period, and a new chapter in the ongoing system of the related network.
ambient/ruin was created with the 2008 quartet, elements of tape collage, concrete, field recordings blend within a strong geographically diverse (parts were recorded in japan, australia, paris and israel) suite of heavy minimalist/maximalist music, black/death metal and drone. the culmination of these efforts become the music, literally, of sadistik exekution meeting phill niblock.

adam jays mediastinum ep is the product of a near death experience turned into an opportunity to create. after experiencing acute trauma to the left lung, the artist was diagnosed with pneumomediastinum, the sounds featured in the production of this record were recorded in the intensive care unit at community east hospital in indianapolis. inward is a raw, stripped down stomper filled with anxiety and a pace of purpose. the a2 track, terrible precision brings an atmosphere of tension and darkness that drives the ep forward. the synth groove of chatter sits atop the recordings of medical monitoring equipment intended to alarm the listener. the unsettling dischord created is contrasted by a powerful low end groove. concert of the machines comes with an addictive half time broken beat groove. the warm, effected electric piano work plays off more alert sounds from the hospital room creating a chilled out vibe that is ideal for closing a set. already support from justin berkovi, nigel richards, gayle san, tony rohr, andrei morant, and brian kage.

i know u combines tribal rhythms, pounding bass, insistent synth stabs, some distressed dialogue and a insanely large crash in the most maniacal way imaginable for what has to be one of the most devastating and original tunes for a very long time. sparse and spacious but yet rhythmical and energetic, lxc manages the ultimate arrangement balancing act here. the intensity increases gradually as the track progresses, culminating in an all-out tribal war ! a modern day jungle masterpiece from one of the most under-estimated producers around. on the flip, senses finally unleashes a track that decimated the very first technicality all-nighter back in 2004. 8 years later and that power is still very much in evidence! everybody want go heaven. nobody want dead taking influence from the 1990 film marked for death, senses builds a dense vibe here, thick with imminent danger. rolling drums soon give way to a energetic ride-heavy break and pounding sub-bass hits. drum rolls drop and mentasms screech before the storm begins to subside half way through. the respite is brief however and after a complete silence the track reassembles, beginning with some insane slow to fast mentasm pitching which continues as a dark, slick reece begins to build with mysterious atmospherics. the tension is cut by the return of the drums rolling along at first, before the mentasms and subs hit hard again, signaling a percussive onslaught! jungle just got catapulted into 2012.
