now the new ep takes the whole adventure even a step further and features two vocal songs featuring julie runa from copenhagen based band roxy jules: µeighty fourã is a killer krautrock / post punk tune with intermittent screaming synths, while µplaying in the nightã is a more darkwave-meets-surf rock via a laboratory of electronics and noisy guitar layers - thrilling stuff.

having spent seven years in his adopted home of london steadily crafting a hazy, ambiguous identity that fuses ambient onto drone and techno, tom hang (aka lobster theremin boss jimmy asquith) finally steps up to the plate with “to be held in a non position” - a melded one-take lp that explores extended themes of isolation, loneliness, personal loss, disconnection and reconnection with reality and (self)-identity.
through his long-lost label tidy bedroom - on which “to be held in a non position” will be released - tom hang engages in a more introspective path, exploring sonic territories that find an echo with dislocated past experiences, pushing physical and psychic boundaries to get at the crux of intimacy.

this year experienced the birth of frazer campbell s deeper imprint elliot project recordings. the london based label launched back in spring with a real statement piece, composed of detailed minimal, late night seductive twinkles and a drone styled techno piece. the labels projected thought process for the future is to navigate through a varied soundscape of deeper excursions and thoughtful techno. this second ep with two originals from frazer, also includes a remix from highly respected uk musician tom ellis who increases the heat on the track light with a energetic but thoughtful techno re work.

tom hang is the solo electronic work of lobster theremin label owner jimmy asquith. despite being ridiculously busy either quaking dancefloors across the globe and flowing into the world a continuous catalogue of acclaimed electronic heat, jimmy has found time to follow up his ‘tidy bedroom versions’ release with more original tracks from the heavily dusted harddrive. ‘the new world’ is a sphere where pummelling techno burners teeter on the edge of freedom before winding and convulsing themselves into varying mutant zones that straddle the lines between experimental statement and tightly locked grooves to create a record of pure dystopian dancefloor heat. there is an odd and refreshing unity here within the strict, bare, functional, consuming percussion and the heady, playful, and freeform nature of hang’s melodic grip.

aus music bring a summer of firsts to a close as they follow up records from the newly collared recloose, trevino and paul woolford with another new addition to the team: tom trago. the rush hour regular joins the ranks with being broke - a bright and groovy four-track aimed straight at the dance floor of this seasons closing festivals. the a side offers up an original and dub version of the title track - a bumping house groove built with playful vocal samples and nifty synth lines. on the flip are two version of good lies - the first rolling out over its elongated duration with sharp, galloping hats and free-flowing rhodes notes. tension begins to develop as the track steadily snowballs gathering vocal snips and a menacing bass line while the good christian edit offers up a lighter, more early-doors affair bringing a nicely rounded package to a close.

the label offers to the artists involved in the project the possibility to gather and experiment a unique sound setting. inside a large concrete silo, the sound endlessly twirl sand spins around. a narrow door made of cast iron gives access to this cylindrical space where everything is surrounded by a red glowing darkness.the sound experience is intro-spective and utterly physical.these moments of residenciesunfold as timeless wanderings within the circovonlutions of this vibratile space our first issue is the inauguration of different musicians matches, whom, so far, never had collaborated together.

favorite recordings presents this new official album reissue of shine the light of love by googie & tom coppola: a beautiful soul album sublimely produced with a sweet la groove! thomas wilkinson coppola (aka tom coppola) is a pianist and arranger, known for being a principal member of the funky prog-jazz group air (not to be confused with the french duo). he began working as a musician in manhattan in the 1960s, where he met carolyn brooks (aka googie coppola). if they only released one self-titled album with air in 1970, and shine the light of love as a duo in 1980, these two amazing talents have collaborated with artists such as herbie mann, lenny white, flora purim, ray barreto or jeremy steig to name just a few.

british techno producer tom dicicco makes his debut on delsin now after many fine releases on off minor recordings, the corner and his own run out run and inner surface music. he is someone with a textural richly, forceful sound that is dark and abstract yet enriched with very real emotions and here he is on point once more with some of his most sensitive and cerebral cuts yet.

... well, solo for the opening track. -a liquid state- is a mellow, melting piece of marshy machine music. warmth flows as clicks and clacks orbit a soft and soothing syntheline in a track that epitomises the term ambient techno. acronym, of northern electronics and semantica fame, takes over the controls for the flip. percussion is folded and refolded, layered into itself into a hypnotic haze. behind these blurred beats a burbling bass bulges as gentle key strokes scatter for a remix brimming with textures and intensity.

sol power sound is proud to present their first release of 2016, a 3-song ep by recent finnish expatriate, tom of brooklyn. after a massive release on razor-n-tape in 2015 (and slight change of moniker), the ever-mysterious tom delivers a 3-song ep of breezy disco grooves inspired by his recent cruise of the islands.

the second part in his modernista initiation and this release sees tom mcconnell confirm his production versatility, merging diverse influences and sounds into a singular identity. 77 is rhodes-led house meets jazz, driven by drum box disco beats interspersed with surreal strings. hurled towards jupiter is a suitably atmospheric (cosmic?) track with swirling arpeggiated keys underpinned by a heavy bass line and off centre tribal percussion. peacefoot follows its own path, morphing from a submerged disco loop into a slow polyrhythmic acidic burn and back again.

debut four tracker by peeping tom on the pinkman imprint. blistering techno and dramatic electro injected jams from this unknown rotterdam based voyeur. comes with an insert with pictures taken on the streets by the peeper himself.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

fatdog records returns after a break, offering contributions from 3 artists new to the label - the rutan, tom mc connell and mark hand. fdr003 offers a development from the deep house template on the last ep, this time taking us further into deeper detroit territories. mark hand offers us drexciyan techno in the form of cold feet. the rutans fable sits somewhere between vakula and some of henrik schwarzs earlier dub-house experiments, while fat dog takes us to the murky back alleys of his mind with jaffa cakes. finally tom mc.connells juniper takes us into wonkier groove rhodes stylings which rounds off the ep very nicely indeed. support by john heckle, afrikan sciences, lay-far, enrico (neroli), sonars ghost (2000 black), burnski, wolf music
