brooklyn duo beacon explore the dark side of sweet melody with a sound thats as seductive as it is subtly discomfiting. thomas mullarney iii and jacob gossett are unstoppable. the new york artists, collectively known as beacon, have been on a productive hot streak since 2012, and their efforts continue to pay off. when we werent writing, mullarney starts, we hit the road and didnt really look back. we toured the us five times since the ways we separate came out, building this project the old-fashioned way. and beacons natural, time-tested process has brought us escapements, their sophomore album for ghostly. we went into this feeling liberated, continues the singer/producer, and gossett seems to echo his thought: this record is in part our attempt to formulate what beacon is going to look and sound like going forward.

seven years ago, unbalance created his own label as a base for his musical ideas, a platform to play around with the conception of what -techno- is and would be alongside his own creative progression. come to present day and the label is now at its ninth release, reaching a point where the line of accumulated experiences must be drawn in the sand — and the experiences of previous projects and releases lead to venerable conclusion. enter ten, an album of internalized strife that was created during a period of big changes in the artist s life. between enduring personal experiences, his creative output veering between his straightforward club eccentricities and subdural sensibilities, unbalance cultivates a symbiotic link between sounds played and sounds portrayed — whilst paying tribute to the essence of groove, vibration and the hypnotic unknown that exists to balance the scales. this album will be the final point in the label s journey into the depths of multifaceted techno music.

shlomo takes a step away from his own taapion records to return to delsin for his second full ep for the label. the parisian producer serves up two of his modern techno jams, a lush ambient piece plus a slamming rework by tommy four seven. up first is in absentia: tome 2, a follow up track to his last ep on the label. it is another cold techno cut with turbulent drums down low and icy, slithering hi hats up top all backed by synths that light up the track from behind with a heavenly glow. tbilisian cure is a more abrasive affair with blistered synth lines and scurrying electronics running through the fast and brutal drums. lali then flips the script and offers an ambient excursion with watery synths forming celestial puddles in the sky. it s a zoned out soundtrack that s the perfect comedown. finishing off the ep, 47 label boss tommy four seven flips this one into a weightless techno groove that rocks back and forth on the drums as sweeping chords leave you feeling suspended in mid air. plenty of ground is covered in this one, and all with equally compelling results.

tataaa! a full on 12- disco ep coming your way via the notorious frank music label. johannes albert – in italy they call him giovanni alberto – plays the rattle bass and bangs out the sweetest piano solo you will hear all year. „giovanni frizzante- it is. truth is he just watched a „how to make italo disco in ableton- tutorial and listened to another 238 lauer tracks for inspiration on top. accompanied by a more sample-laden arp-disco tune that won t give you any cure. added for good measure? jep, prins thomas diskomiks on the flip in all its glory. what could possibly go wrong?
