reference (planet e / echospace / beretta) consists of the detroit-based artists luke hess & brian kage. in the first reference vs project we squeezed some of the party out of seth troxler and some of the percussion expertise from ryan crosson to create the still sought after tracks >the fade< and >the bumps<. in the second installment of our reference vs series we wanted to get a bit more soulful, & deep with the music, and highlight two of the worlds finest dub techno artists - stephen hitchell (cv313) and marko furstenburg (surphase). stephen hitchell aka cv313 is first a sound engineer. his experiments with synthesis create a warm, ethereal, and organic analog sound all his own. in the reference vs projects we seek to extract the natural strengths of the artist. when we received the files from stephen we knew we were packing heat! we structured our zone around the life-like chord structure that cv313 so effortlessly creates and gave it some more dance floor flavor. we believe the track titled >the wake< will fill dance-floors over the summer months on the beach as well as in the clubs. what can we say. markos shuffled dub stab style has been in demand since the artist started releasing on thinner back in 2002. mr. fürstenbergs deep and emotional music is an extension of his character. we were happy to receive what we expected from marko, super percussive, cavernous, and soulful soundscapes. again we referenced the package out with some drones, new analog rhythms, and eureka. the zone continues relentlessly in >the swell< to carry the dancer through the night into another summer day in the sun

yore returns with the 3rd release on the yore limited series. 300 limited copies in green transparent vinyl. a beauty musically and for the eye. orlando b. favours the kind of funky and raw-sounding techno that flourished during the late-’90s and early-’00s and so naturally invests his maiden voyage on the yore imprint with the same kind of classic soul that renders that earlier era’s sound so appealing. ” beneath the surface ep ” largely focuses on warm house grooves. “a feeling” dishes out eight minutes of classic deep house that’s also as funky as hell. a subtle latin percussion vibe sneaks in at the beginning but quickly enough the tune rolls out a warm house strut that dominates thereafter, piano sprinkles, lush strings, and a crisp, hi-hat-spun groove give the tune added style and flair, as does the insistence of the titular vocal sample. “esoteric” digs into a steamy, bass-driven house beat that’s both raw and funky, then slathers it with a synth solo that squeals with delight, while “new york tale” smoothens its techno core with warm chords and delicious house swing. “mj12&#8243,,,, is the coolest and most techy cut on this diverse four cut ep. orlando b. sprinkling billowing dub chords and a spoken voice sample over a rock-solid tech-house base that will go straight under your skin, when it hits you on the dancefloor. 300 copies left still. go grab yours before it’s too late

first on decks.de!!! >blast corps< opens the ep with a surge of delayed baseline. crispy static rises from below and echoes swoop and simmer beneath the full blooded base. it builds insistently, the 4/4 structure is infused with far off blips and the dusty sizzles of lowpitched white noise. on dark star warm dub keeps the sound organic. it’s elemental, the baseline seems enormous enough to have a gravity of its very own and the other elements pull together around its weight. it teases, the breathy elements twitch, fidget, become fully formed but refuse to drop. frank martiniq refuses the obvious, and opts for the discerning. this is the stuff of intrigue, as is the percussive opening to b2 >lovelane<. here a rattling, clattering sequence breaks out into a euphoric, syncopated structure. its dark, playful and danceable techno.

groove charts # 3 !!! >sex ×technology = the future< ( jg ballard) wires are the arteries of the modern world, connecting and supplying practically everything that defines our lives. we channel our desires like an electrical current through our machines. musically, the concept is about drawing together the different strands, from techno and minimal to house to ambient and experimental. there is a common thread that runs through these different genres, linking them like the roots of a tree. this diversity is what keeps everything fresh for me. the >raudive< project explores techno and minimal, further releases will feature >atlas<, a new project created by myself and co-producer tommy gillard which moves into more detroit house territory. later there will be music from >zov zov< music that references pan sonic, coil and sunno))).
