into the light brings out a splendid assemblage of 17 tracks of mostly previously unheard material by athens based composer akis daoutis (akis) most of them recorded in his hometown and in usa where he was studying in the mid-eighties.

after over a year spent in a slight creative slump in a crumbling terraced house in tottenham, jam baxter rang his label boss while heavily intoxicated to request they fly him to bangkok forthwith, to rejoin forces with ‘...so we ate them whole’ producer and engineer, chemo. after an initial period of understandable hesitancy, the flights were booked and baxter found himself suddenly regurgitated from the belly of a jet airliner into the magical and surreal surroundings of ‘mansion 38’.
the album features dirty dike, dabbla, lee scott & trellion. included in the vinyl package is a large full colour 8 page booklet with photos and jam baxter’s ‘morning rejuvenation elixir’ recipe.

robo arigo is an extraordinary multi-instrumentalist from nigeria’s ogun state. a founding member of pogo ltd, he played bass, guitar and organ on both their albums and plays all kinds of instruments, including cowbell, on sexy thing too. one listen to the record, however, (and a quick look at the back of the cover), and it’s pretty clear that playing bass is where robo’s heart lay. especially when he gets to slap it.

deleted - with this fifth release, the moonrise hill guardians decided to deliver a vinyl conceived by half of them on the a-side and two friends they decided to invite on the b-side. the first side of the record is the more club oriented one, with two tracks from ethyène & folamour that sums well what made the early moonrise style, between smart soulful sampling to unstoppable groovy beats that will instantly make you burn a dancefloor. the second side starts with one of the two guests of this record, lb aka labat, with a house anthem that gathers all the detroit codes and an undeniable hip-hop influence. toshigi canopy has been asked to end the record, something that he did perfectly well with a more lo-fi track leaving you with a mysterious poetic taste that the moonrise hill guardians have always been defending.

nyc-based duo jasmine golestaneh and eddie cooper write songs through a telepathic kinship thevve developed since they started making music together. we have these sort of unspoken criteria when we re writing music. we never really need to explain what that is but we both know when it s missing or when we ve hit it. the pair, aka tempers, are set to release their fundamental fantasy ep via the vinyl factory on 24th february. creating an emotional and tonal tension of sensual and mechanical impulses, their brand of dark electronica sets haunting song writing to a sinister disco beat, pop melodies floating in an almost industrial soundscape. it follows the bands 2015 debut full-length services. fundamental fantasy is about exploring the creative scenery of romantic illusions. our need for them, how we justify them to ourselves, that moment when the imagined story line collides with reality. the ways we fictionalize people to fit into the narratives we have about love - to reflect our own beliefs, virtues and flaws. it is about celebrating fantasies swelling and getting undone, so we can pick up the pieces and craft new ones that serve us better tempers musically, fundamental fantasy is an evolution in both song writing and process, while still tracing a clear line to their earlier output. many of the eps melodies were born of live improvisation, which helped them create an instinctive, natural immediacy within their electronic arrangements. the cover of the ep depicts the duo on the volcanic island of stromboli, where they performed at the volcano extravaganza, an art and music festival curated by the vinyl factory.it is a perfect landscape to mirror the mood of ‘fundamental fantasy. a seemingly idyllic place that is isolated from the outside world.

after his collaboration with adam beyer joseph capriati teams up with flavio folco for the second redimension with a fully analogue production in the studio. a wide range of sounds taking you deeper into their idea of space, dimension and possible destinations. josephs creativity received a new drive from the collaboration with the emerging talent flavio folco whose musical roots range from jazz to hip hop and acid house. their studio sessions in barcelona and flavios openings sets at capriati’s shows gave both of them the chance to get to know each other on a deeper musical level which turned into an unexpected and dynamic ep.

after an ep on creme organization off-shoot jericho one as dj plant texture, dona basile now assumes his dona alias for a new ep on the main label. entitled the v.g.p sessions, it features four new cuts from the italian, with three of them being dj pt mixes. up first is a live cut version of energia , a bristling electro track with globular bass and coarse hits. turbulent but full of synth based serenity, it is a fine start. cigarettes (djpt mix) is rugged and broken, with glossy idm synths and corrugated drums all loosely arranged into something prickly and unsettling. the deads at twelve (djpt mix) then gets even more fucked up, with rusty synths and blown out drums making for a dystopian house groove that will likely soundtrack the apocalypse. last but not least, nr. 13 (djpt mix) mixes up detroit synths, wild acid, heavenly chords and chopped up, buried deep vocal samples into something that will fire every synapse in your body. this is outlier stuff from dona that sounds like little else.

we are seemingly headed towards dark and confusing times. the tension inside of the people is rising so instead of putting more gasoline to the fire and fueling the rage i submit to you these sounds of peace. not black music or white music. not borders or class. just music. it’s time to stop labeling music, just as it is time to stop labeling humans as 1st class and 2nd class citizens. if you can ignore my broken voice and if you could only look past my music’s imperfections, you would feel me instead of hearing me and maybe then you could get a small glimpse of the hope that the people feel when they are at my concerts and understand the idea that many great men and women before me like bob marley and john lennon had, that we are all one. the idea that had brought hope and countless others. the hope that makes them scream: peace forever. it was such a hot day in may 2014, we all remember, moscoman drop by his home town of tel aviv to do a party with krikor aka crackboy as his guest, they had a few hours to kill just before the gig, mosco rang up his old compadres and brothers in arms red axes, to see what they were up to, they were just hanging at the studio, “we’re coming” he said, and the rest is history, thanks to the taxi driver abed that was waiting downstairs to take them to the gig, they had vocals to finish this track and mosco had the chance to play this track that night already. powered by a uncompromising mix from no doubt one of the best producers of electronic music, roman flügel, and another killer by red axes, not a lot is left to do but wait for this monster record to drop.

madame e. is a musical setting of georges bataille’s “madame edwarda”, a short novel that interlaces themes of eroticism, religiosity and death, and was written under the pseudonym pierre angelique in 1941, during the occupation of paris. composer mirco magnani wrote eleven electronic pieces and presented them to actor/singer ernesto tomasini. they turned them into songs by adding vocal melodies and together they produced a libretto based on bataille’s french text. the result of their dynamic interpretation is a hypnotically spellbinding performance where the audience is transported through worlds – ancient and new – and where tomasini’s haunting falsetto conveys the tormented emotions in bataille’s work and becomes the instrument that articulates the writer’s famously obscure themes.

tikita, the casablanca based label focussed on body & mind music and its fifth offering is from french artist amandra. putting out just one release a year since 2014 - all of them on ahrpe records and with one being a full length - he has fomented a deep acid, ambient and techno sound for back rooms and underground clubs everywhere.

juni is the first joint release by charly schoeppner and sascha demand, two seasoned veterans of experimental and improvisational music. they call themselves giraffe. their longstanding friendship has now propelled them into making juni. juni contains 11 short pieces that effortlessly flow in and out of each other. intuitive, yet controlled, subdued, yet at times nervously ritualistic, percussive elements drive the tracks with melodic and harmonic impulses weaved around them. the record references abstract jazz and contemporary experimental music. it is an original snapshot of what makes contemporary experimental music tick.

the maverick maestro from the bay dave aju is back with his circus family here with an incredible new release. based on stripped-down hardware sessions rocking just a roland tr-909 and sh-101, aju once again proves that no sound set need be limited in itself and along with the addition of one microphone for his inimitable soulful voice, creates one of his strongest and most imaginative releases to date, the 10101 ep. a multiple homage to the 101 freeway that spans his native golden state and the numeric classic analog boxes used vs digital binary to process them, the four rich tracks offer the best of both worlds and cover all the bases of mr ajus musical multiverse. low dive starts things on a deep heads-down dance floor tip where rising synth lines soar over a blast of shuffling drums and percussion for a rocksolid djs delight. always never comes next with pure aju magic, equal parts song and track, an ear worm of a chorus, and full of sunny west coast electro influences all the way through. on the flip sides may very well be one of ajus most intense transmissions ever, with a sublime and seemingly endless build-up of dark pads, driving, shifting rhythms, and voodoo vocals that will detonate many a peak-hour sound system guaranteed. aju then tastefully finishes with the cool psychedelic mid-tempo bump of tell her why which harks back to his hip-hop roots and wraps up the vibe and elements of the whole ep perfectly. welcome back with a bang brother aju!
