tzusing returns to l.i.e.s. with his third and (final?) name out of place ep after two now sought after percusors leading up to this one. again we are not disappointed as the massive opener face of electric hits hard taking a typical breakbeat formula and adding some sort of bizarre ritualistic element like the zulu nation or george kranz in a ceremony at a steel factory. emotional eater slows the tempo down, but again the machines grind hard with tinges of acid, heavy rhythms and sparse vocals moving in and out, while the closer r is a stripped down beater made for mixing. top stuff from the in demand producer.

having finally woken from our deep winter slumber, team fancy human shuffle in through the door of 2016, in need of a shave and a coffee, clutching the newly minted test pressing of the first full release from london duo and co-founders lucatwana. the normally work shy combo deliver to you fh003, or under it s more catchier moniker, city droids. if they d have got it done quicker, we might have been able to cash in on the stars wars related hype, but never mind. anywho, city droids takes the form of three originals, beginning with the uplifting funk of city fucking, moving through the tougher and darker grind of droids on roids and ending with a nod to detroit with nobody knows. pleasingly, we also have a fancy human favourite tigerskin on remix duties, with a smooth, driving, hypno re-imaging of droids on roids that hits the nail firmly on the head.

kevin arnemann and daan kemps taped artifact label clocks up its fourth release with a three track offering from outlaw rec boss and key part of the italian serendipity club, namely matthew oh. matthew has previously released on his own label and others like side off, and eloquently marries dub, techno and house into smooth and sensuous sonic landscapes. the opening track psycho hub is an atmospheric and spacious roller with dubbed out drums and pads, coupled with incendiary hi hats urging you along. shroud is seven minutes of slick and spaced out deep techno with liquid synths and clacking hits all racing along and making for a frictionless groove that sucks you right in. finally, get in the fridge slows the tempo down and becomes an even more widescreen and roomy roller with suspensory pads, smeared synths and aqueous sonic details that make you feel like you are floating in sound.

italian producer and be free label head jäger makes his debut on underyourskin records with a haunting ‘mystical journey‘ that turns out to be a playful minimalistic techno approach in the beginning, before evolving into a dark synth driven and more techhouse dominant tune gaining its dancefloor eligibility with a heavy baseline. louis kolben, part of agents of time, takes on the technoid approach to create a wobbling stomper that could easily tear in any location it is played at. ‘mizar‘, the ep‘s second track, partly connects with regards to content to ‘mystical journey‘ but focussing merely on that dreamy aspect that claims its listeners and leads one to a state of trance. steffen sonnenschein builds up the track slower to delay its peak that hits heavily when the synth sounds are let loose and set the pace throughout the end.
