argot excavates an unexplored corner of chicago house history. lab work 91-96 collects the work of chris ike and john kardaras, two chicago producers with few records to their names but a wealth of compelling unreleased material waiting in their archives. the compilation highlights the pair’s particular vision and musical breadth across 14 tracks, drawn from a cd-r given to steve mizek in 2010 that was recently rediscovered. lab work was remastered in it’s entirety by dietrich schoenemann, sounding much at home today yet intimately connected to a formative time in chicago house history.

re-issue of a ltd aussie techno/house 12- from 1997. in 1997 tim jackiw emerged on the scene with his very first release on the short-lived aussie imprint, offworld records. the release was limited to 500 copies and went virtually unnoticed. a few music journalists at the time of the release dubbed it as one of the greatest electronic records to come out of australia. the a-side begins with a long deep technosoul journey. the b-side continues with more recombinant classic detroit and chicago sounds of the golden era. recondite is proud to re-issue this long lost introduction to tims music with new sounds to come in the near future!

crash course in science are a post punk band that formed in 1979 in philadelphia. the band members, dale feliciello, mallory yago and michael zodorozny, met while attending art school, where they began to experiment with crude electronics and off-beat lyrics. ccis avoided conventional instrumentation by using toy instruments and kitchen appliances to augment the distorted guitar, drums and synthesized beats.
