having finished recording the new zombie zombie album (out: april 2012), etienne jaumet leaves temporarily the duo to record a solo piece, as a need to find oneself again … if the word satori means spiritual awakening, the title track that offers etienne seems to describe the way to this awakening … a winding and sometimes dark path, taking inspiration from both dark disco and synth wave (etienne is particularly keen of those genres, you can listen to his new podcast for versatile records as an evidence) and also to some kind of trance… on b side, jon convex, newcomer on the dubstep / uk garage field and signed on martyns label, delivers a clearly club oriented version, by injecting syncopated beat and the funky groove unique to uk garage.

former member of french duo lownza, lowris develops here his solo project futher. while his first record along with chris carrier received the highest praises, his presence on piemonts remix album, next to jay haze or uner, shows that lowris is gently tracing his own path in the electronic field. the >carambar de toi< ep gathers a collection of generous and warm deep house sonorities. spectral sound new recruit pawas is on remix duties for the title track of this third popcorn release. on his version, pawas blends pads, drums and guitars with a round driving bass. freshly signed on poker flat, is frenchman andrade who offers here a gliding reword of >jackin oz<. the original version is a subtle track structured by a frank bass and a distant sonar.

hdr002 takes us straight to 90s house territory with four new edits from nycs marcos cabral. the a-side opens with >sym phon<, an anthemic filtered piano house jam that opens up wide and swallows all in its path. a2 gives us >better think again< with sticatto chords and twinkling keys in a jersey-esque house sound. the b-side hits with >in the sea<, starting off with a giant slow tribal beat and then morphs into a psychedelically swirling synth workout. b2 wraps things up with >get get get< turning our ears to old school chicago house. rolands tr-707 lays the percussion down while the chant of >get in the groove< repeats into infinity

in a time when rock critics saw the prodigy as a glorified keyboard player flanked by a couple of weird and scary dancers, liam howlett & co showed the world how dance had evolved away from the club scene and into the festivals & arenas.

morning caffeine is the debut release by poker flats martin landsky on mobilee that we have all been waiting for! as a poker flat artist with huge success to his name for various remixes, he boasts a discography that reads like a guide through electronic musics hottest sounds. always refusing to be pigeonhold, landsky continuously embraces different paths and once again hes brought something new to the table. title track morning caffeine (main mix) kick starts the ep with both a dark and uplifting mood as a slightly twisted loop continues to build throughout the track, never really culminating but carrying on inescapably, whilst in contrast the organ dub version offers a much lighter and bouncier atmosphere. aint nobodys is the pleasant surprise of the ep, once again demonstrating landkys musical diversity and serving up really special warm dreamy vibes

almost three years after their release >lake<, odessa appear appealing their scene again. actually, their privacy breaktime should not have been a musical discontinuance, too. but as it sometimes goes things happen abruptly. although the ep >memory leak< already was pre-produced in 2009 it got just recently a detailed finishing. leave off the idea these tracks could have had their half-life already, not at all. odessa stay here and now, presenting reduced, cool-organic house with wide atmospheres. even though odessa music keeps ascetical aesthetics since the beginning a certain pathos can deeply be felt. once again, but just for one track (>l aurore<), frederique frankes exceptional voice comes to effect.

berghain resident marcel fengler is one of the frontmen of raw and forward pushing techno. judging by his previous three eps for the label, its clear to see how fenglers work revolves around a love for tough, angular and edgy tools for the floor. this fourth offering continues the energy with three jacking, factory-forged tracks leading us further down his mysterious path.

we would like to welcome deep a and biri to upon you records. these two up and coming young producers from israel have sent us three jackin house tracks, which we know you will enjoy. wed had an eye on them for a while after hearing their tracks that they released for kammer, trapez and rotary cocktail, all the better that they now have another platform for their darker house style. on a1 we have barzilay a track that is dedicated to the club in tel aviv where deep a is a resident and salutes the vibrant energy of the city. b1 is wilder and more psychedelic. deepa & biri made a gem called emergenze that subtly pushes itself forward then rolls over everything in its path. hoya on b2 keeps the mystical suspense level up where it should be, and adds a bouncier tom-groove to round things off perfectly. shalom!

contexterrior is pleased to present the debut collaboration from italian producers alessio mereu and andrea ferlin, three immaculately produced techno cuts as slick as melting ice, with eerie voices woven so deep into the mix, you’ll wonder whether you’re actually hallucinating them. mereu is known for his material on labels like cmyk and toys for boys, and is also half the duo bunkers whose “holding back” and “barajas” have made the rounds in the clubs these past several months. ferlin is known for his past releases on freak n’ chic, boxer and mindshake, and is also half of duoteque. his productions have found their way into a number of commercially released mix cds including those by magda, triple r, damian lazarus & matthew styles. from the creepy title track, circling around like a shark that smells blood, to the serene yet bouncy “boxis”, to the tribal touch of “walking on the forest path”, the deep thoughts ep offers a variety of tracks perfect for mediation on the dancefloor.

cool elegancy and machines meet live elements, soul and warm loops. subtle deep piecees of house music! hard to believe what jena has to offer: after splashy shooting stars like the wighnomys and their freude am tanzen family, a new act from this small metropolis for artists is coming up on vinyl now. while the team around klinke auf cinch is releasing its upbeat on playtracks the debut track shows the variety and creativity being in the deeply touching musicians heads. invited to the vocal corner was among others the soul voice of ian simmonds, who has already scratched his monument into black gold on musik krause. klinke auf cinch perform in stereopanorama with tenderly sent melody pearls and create marble paths with groove fragments. a live playing trumpeter, the voices of ian simmonds and paula as well as the gifted rhythm and harmony section around clemens kynast and lutz hartmann are the counterconcept to brute force. jack to cinch makes live electronica a valuable and touching concert event, the musicians virtuosity meets the cool elegance of the machines. loop means soul, beat means heart beat.

alex ridha aka boys noize is, along peers erol alkan and justice, part of a new mongrel breed of techno / electronica artist with a maverick bent and solid vision, beaming a myriad of influences from the past through a prism to create something fresh, new and exciting. founding his own imprint boysnoize records (bnr) in 2005 he achieved to establish his very own sound. alex released the first boys noize album “oi oi oi” in 2007 on bnr which featured febrile club favourites like “& down and “lava lava” and also more soulful techno tracks like “shine shine” or what many regard as one of his finest works, his remix of feist’s “my moon, my man”. official remixes for the likes of depeche mode, snoop dogg, justice, late of the pier, his latest work for royksopp, highly regarded dj mix compilations (bugged out! / i love techno) as well as productions for black eyed peas and canadian genius gonzales proved how versatile he could be. now boys noize presents his second longplayer as a lim.ed on vinyl instead of following the commercial path after the unexpected success of “oi oi oi”, boys noize passed on any big name featuring, the great pop approach or feeding trends. keeping it real, “power” starts where “oi oi oi” has ended and shows the freshest of electronica and techno music.

on their introductory minus ep, click box offers a refreshing return to a bygone era of classic instrumentals, full of experimentation and passion generated by that ongoing love affair between man and machine. berlin shades starts out in a jittery minimal fashion but soon dives much deeper as the tough electro bassline expands and contracts dragging the dancer to and fro. the cascading hook and in-your-face sci-fi synth motif add a sense of tongue-in-cheek drama to a dynamic arrangement that incorporates steep inclines, sharp drops and snaking pathways. as the short staccato bass riff gains momentum and the hook comes round for the second time you just know somethings lying in wait and the boys certainly dont disappoint. lost road is anything but a blind alley, kicking off with some low-slung interplay between a two-note bassline and a whiplash snare that dishes out a serious spanking. hi-hats fizz across the audio spectrum, cleverly pitching up and down before a drunken bass sequence ushers in the main section with its sliding, twisted synth distortions primed for surprise and immediate disorientation. once all the elements are in play, the fun really starts with so many objects of interest competing for attention. the arrangement is pulled and pushed to great effect extracting maximum effect from this tough little unit. more electro flavour to the fore as the loose, broken beat intro and robot sounds of some toys make for some slick moves on the dancefloor. the retro synth riffs and dark spiralling pads conjure up images of some early 80s lab full of computer kids in white coats twiddling knobs on huge mainframe monoliths. the bouncing bass and analogue belches make this a must for all retro-tastic electro-boogie fans. the theme continues over into voxer as rising filtered bass tones playout over another trademark click box drum pattern, this time doused in heavy reverb and delay. an array of analogue bleeps, screams and laser beams keep the motor ticking over.

support by enzo elia, sultan, oliver koletzki, martin eyerer, marc romboyà flash recordings was a result of collaborations between oliver koletzki and florian meindl back in 2006, now after olivers label stil vor talent took off and flooded him with work, florian manages flash on his own. the first musical statement for this new paths florian is going comes in the shape of a single with two perfectly crafted dance-floor weapons: >time to move< is a disco tech- house tool built with a solid and mechanic meindl beat&bass construction, which ends up in a superlong break before it gets hit back by the beat.

a-list partner for the a-side >trust<, berlin-relocated seth troxler from detroit, has been delivering countless bangers for crosstown rebels, spectral or wolf + lamb and forged quite a reputation for himself. seth brings freshness and freedom in his work as well as in his relationships with the girls! his edgy voice takes off on some sick rumbling percussions, and pairs up all along the track with mind twisting waves and swirling vibes to impulse a dizzying, thus delighting booty-shaking dance. loyal to the house tenets but frivolous with innovations this is straight out of the top drawer, trust us!no less rewarding, the tiefschwarz brothers hit the >roads< on the b-side. the opening steady beat is gradually driven by hypnotic keynotes to a darker path. break! the drums take the lead again, but still infected by the loop, the track goes on, and compels to an irresistible euphoria. far out! tiefschwarz step up once again with a must-have record, be ready for the next things to come!

the runners are a new project by our man lukas who has been with dirt crew and players paradise from the beginning and his buddy kevin cook. both young and very talented producers who teamed up to drop some delicious deep house on the next dirt crew release. kevin just made the move to ibiza while bristol based lukas is very succesful in running his buoyancy parties over there. with >hot fun< and >woman pleaser< coming in two different deep mixes this ep is one for the house lovers, taking dirt crew more and more towards the soulfull and groovy path of the new house movement. to top things off we asked another rising star in the scene and one of our favourite producers at this moment jay shepheard (compost, diynamic, drumpoet community) who recently made the move from london to berlin. he delivers a great remix with a deep sub bass and a lush chord filled groove… you will love it

lithuanian producer paulius lincius (aka moon disco) presents his first vinyl release on the respected control tower label, run by the dexorcist & radioactive man, and shows a subtlety and deftness of touch that many more experienced producers would envy. treading the path of classic electro can be a dangerous game if the sounds arent just so, but fortunately paulius has been doing his homework and keeps it simple and clean. radioactive man offers up a remix that roughens things up a little bit and throws some datasette-esque sounds into the equation, but still keeps pretty close to the traditional electro blueprint. overall a strong release for those that prefer their beats and bass with a slightly nostalgic edge...

unxplored beats is the sisterlabel of mark brooms pure plastic to release tracks that are off that 4/4-path. kruton brings us his definition of electro, remixed by midnight funk association and kold grease.

first vinyl pressing since the original 1988 royal records lp issue. started as a rumor, or more likely a threat, royal trux burst from the belly of nyc cum dc scum punks pussy galore in 1986. disinclined to follow the path of their host group, royal trux began the process of exploring their own identity, starting with recordings given to the end of music as we know it compilation. the idiosyncratic album offered skeletal projections of songs that betrayed a singular logic groomed on bizarre and previously unconnected realms of the rock canon.
