6th borough project make a welcome return to delusions of grandeur to deliver their debut lp entitled one night in the borough. as well as a cd the album is being released as 3 individual singles plus a limited edition triple coloured vinyl pack. here we have the first single in the series of 3 including four brand new full-length cuts from the album. find a way kicks things off and sees the guys deliver what we know as classic 6th borough material ie. precision cut, edity disco and soul but heavied up with a fat kick and an arrangement which screams out for peaktime plays. iznae hits next with a brilliant wobbling bassline that brings a warehouse feel to proceedings before the groove drops into an unexpected breakbeat section that harvey mason himself would be proud of. if its loopy downtempo house you re into then look no further than if the feelings right. layers of loops build and drop, filtering in and out whilst grooving steadily along at a sublime 88bpm. finally, changin goes on a classic deep house mission with soft stabs and synth riffs supplying the interest while a rolling beat propels things along in an understated yet powerful way.
for this project the barking dogs rework two tracks by jessie evans, adding their producing skills to her post-punk sax and vocals lines and giving us two old school burning, sweaty killers. the pack is complete with remixes from a couple of hot names on the scene. altz with his enormous, mad remix (something really unique, we where stunned when we first listened to this one) and the deep acid version from rune lindbaek & mental overdrive.

manuel tur has been making some great music recently, whether it be as one half of the ribn project with partner langenberg, on numerous remixes alongside dplay or solo on a variety of labels such as mild pitch, pokerflat, freerange, mule music, drumpoet and now delusions of grandeur. fianchetto opts for a dark, spaced-out and deeply hypnotic vibe full of warm, subby disco beats, shimmering rhodes and echoing horns. a masterful production from manuel that is loaded with atmosphere and sounds mighty on a big system. next up we have beasts and the birds which goes for a heavy looped up disco approach full of raw detroit sensibilities and attitude. finally, tim toh (much respected and sickeningly young german producer releasing on soulphictions philpot label) stretches out beasts and the birds into a 9 minute journey into abstract dance. once again, were talking unrefined, no compromise house music here, the likes of which you wont be hearing on an mos compilation anytime soon

nosferatu delivers a slamming release on enzyme records. this record contains 3 solo tracks by nosferatu and a collaboration between nosferatu & mad dog (traxtorm records). lack of existence is a melodic track which has been played by all the top jocks the last months. a huge floor filler with a great melody. its great to hear the personal elements of both producers in this track. intimidation is an energetic track with cool vocals and a very effective riff. bloodlust is the second melodic track on this release. nosferatu asked nikkita to record some vocals for this track. the result is a massive mainstream hardcore track with an amazing melody! this track is also heavily supported by many djs. the last track on this release is the original wolves of creation. a very slow, bumpy track with funny vocals and an amazing drive!
after a some big remixes and a nice original outing this summer on get physical, catz n dogz return back to their home label. this time the guys team up with their friend, the hot producer, pol_on while also featuring the candid vocals of fellow mothershipper , monty luke. this is a great single to check out as we wait for their new 2nd album for mothership due out in the spring of 2010. the sexy analog sound of the original mix will fit well within any proper house set, but i particularly prefer the drama queen mix which breaks into a beautiful melodic section 3 quarters of the way through. groovy.
