number 3 on ruff draft comes from louis guilliaume. having met louis back in 2009 and followed his music since way before then, it was an exciting day when we received these tracks from him. known more for his harder edge techno productions on labels such as soundtravels, bio rhythm holland, teng, sd holland and a remix on skudge, here he edges slightly away from that harder sound. the tracks vary from deep, groovy and meandering house to a beatless soundscape reminiscent of early larkin and pullen to a powerful kick drum driven sermon.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

dmom welcomes french talent flex for his debut with a massive big-room-track. the knocking kick introduces some fine tuned and arranged techno in a really classic sense and has the ability to become one of those secret weapons everybodys talking about when hearing it on some set. on top of this kyle geiger delivered a remix showing the technotic side of his soul after his recent more melodic appearance on cocoon s recent compialtion, as used to from him with a superb sounddesign and kind of remdinding on his previous works some time ago on drumcode. finally southeast-european techno-ambassador vegim appears to slow it down a bit, taking it to the groovy edge.

title track don t stop is a loose and playful thing that chucks loopy, circular drums, little vocal riffs, synth stabs and tumbling toms into the mix and lets them all groove along for almost six infectious minutes. its a spritely, silvery and slithering concoction that makes you shake your every limb. stare is a deeper, darker thing with rattling snares rolling over flappy kick drums and wobbling synths ducking in and out of the space left behind. its a tumultuous, drum lead affair that toys with your expectation, threatening to drop or explode but never quite doing so, instead keeping you right on the edge of your seat throughout. the final offering is nian which again has super well defined drums and hits all tumbling and sparking off each other. it s spacious stuff, too, and the indecipherable foreign language vocals add another layer of intrigue to what is already a fascinating cut.

having started the year in strong fashion, fighting *the clone wars* on his own rekids imprint in january before following that with the rødhåd-remixed *repeat myself* on work them, matt edwards aka radio slave continues his 2014 ascension with his nonplus+ debut *dont stop no sleep*. another pared-down techno workout, *dont stop no sleep* is a classic radio slave roller imbued with the tougher edge of his earlier techno productions such as grindhouse and screaming hands, retaining the hallmarks of his most influential work whilst updating it with his now trademark energetic house style.
