forbidden friends is a new band from hutch harris, lead singer and mastermind of the thermals, portlands last great post-pop-punk-power trio. initially conceived as a way for lovers to send hidden messages in plain view (isnt there an app for that?), forbidden friends is now a legitimate, public work of art. the band is at once old fashioned (acoustic instruments, mono mixes), forward thinking (reference-less, incredibly danceable), and timeless (classic lyrical themes of love and desire.)

the bewitched hands is a six- member band (five guys and one girl) from reims in france. the bewitched hands, formely known as the bewitched hands on the top of our heads, captured their audience in reknowned festivals like les transmusicales de rennes in 2008, le printemps de bourges or paris plage in 2009, and performing their cover of >tonight< by yuksek, who mixed their album. influenced by american folk and pop, frequently compared to big names of pop such as the beach boys, the flaming lips and most recently arcade fire, the bewitched hands have already got a prestigious international gigs behind them and more to come.

idle hands is a vinyl based label operating out of rooted records in bristol. the focus of the label is on raw and experimental dance floor tracks, in the best traditions of the uk underground. hanuman and atki2 make up monkeysteak, and along with dub boy run the steak house records label. over the past few years they have released 12&#8243,,s on the werk and punch drunk labels as well as recently featuring on toddla t’s fabric mix. here in the west country dub boy runs the bristol’s best bass music night, the acclaimed ruffnek diskotek and has recently been voted one of the cities favourite dj’s, second only to joker. this 12&#8243,, sees the crew delve into house music with satisfyingly bass heavy results. the a side is a chunky deep house track with a feel good carnival vibe. the b side is a unique slice of post-soca dance music, and also includes a remix from the internet’s funkiest man – grievous angel. dj support from martyn, ben ufo, blackdown and 2562.

the title track (bloody hands) has a unique futuristic sparkle with plenty of funk and loads of interesting effects, characteristic of horrevorts productions. the lead and bassline build up tension throughout the track, subtly climaxing after 5 minutes with some guaranteed hands in the air action!
