2x 15mins of ultra hypno house!! big with ricardo villalobos, prins thomas, laurent garnier,… unarguably, the best way to prepare umu is inside a hole in the ground. go find a nice flat land, preferably your mother in laws lawn, gather friends, ask them to bring wine. youll need a well amplified turntable playing mania #11 on a loop. cut the grass using a flat shovel, four or six square pieces of 50 cms, lifting the grass with its roots and some soil, move aside. now you have a clean area of about 1.5 mts square, dig in it to a depth of about 50 cms (come on, it will make you sweat profusely but you need this shallow grave to feel the magik of easter islands umu!).

after releases from heavy hitters such as two armadillos, solomun and andomat3000 the mantle now falls to new boy class71 with his double a-side >seaphone/diamond door<. well, it would do if he was really the new boy, but he s not. in fact, this new artist is an alias of italian producer santos, who has pretty much done it all in house, techno and every other genre we could lazily list. rounding things off with a respectful nod to classic techno via moody stabs, lazy melodies and an airtight arrangement in the form of >diamond door<, it seems like class71 is a bit of a name to watch. don t take our word for it though, ame, sasse, djinxx and agnes are already backing this winner.

after his huge success >smokemachine< on freak waves jaxson is back with a release on one of his favourite labels. >miami flys< is a housy summer tune that fit perfect in the keno records style and will rock the clubs and open airs in 2008. hotspot is more stripped down and hypnotic but this time less is more again. piemont, the two guys from hamburg who released on labels like my best friend, hi freaks or yellow tail do what they can do best: they turn this track into a real club bomb..

the polytechnics ep is the second release on df by silver city following the superb dubby ep from 2006. on the a side, the title track polytechnics has electrofunk vibes blending perfectly with new wave sensibilities. think greg wilson mixing up gary numan and you wont be far off. it rocks! and on the flip, nu disco don pete herbert (reverso 68/lsb) cuts up pendulo a heavily arrpegiated disco stormer and transforms it into yet another disco bomb. this was an edit that pete knocked together for his own dj sets and we loved it so much we just had to put it on the vinyl. last, but in no way least, is victoria jam which is a no nonsense heads down groover of a track that will get your dancefloors rocking. seriously good music. enjoy! plays by: ashley beedle, llorca, fabrice lig, electric press, reverso 68, munk, murray richardson, ajello, dubious...

for this landmark fifty release from method, we are treated to a double tracker from label boss keith mcdonnell aka innate. fifty fifty is a slammin tuff progressove workout, with distorted chords & glitchy beats. on the flip beehive is a wiggly bass driven cut with a funky fat guitar drop...both tracks are perfect for today, but with a nod to the sound that launched method 50 releases ago!!!

allez allez are one of those early 80s hidden gems of the belgian new wave dance scene who shone so brightly for a few years (81 – 85) and then were gone – but not forgotten! based around the writing and production nucleus of brussels based kristiaan debusscher and nicolas fransolet a third dimension was added by american vocalist sarah osbourne and early hi tempo hits such as african queen, allez allez and shes stirring up became global club classics.

the 3rd release by scott grooves on his natural midi label, this is scotts first ever ep and color vinyl release. all 4 tracks possess a different mood and distinct raw edge, which plays well on this well balanced ep.track 1 dark blu speaks for itself, simply stated and deeply enriched. the relentless melody never lets go of the groove and the groove never lets go the melody. everything in this track harmonizes together perfectly.track 2 dna definitely disturbs the peace with vintage analog synth sounds. the old school sounding vocal sample echoes thruout the track that >detroit needs analog records< take a listen and decide if that echoes true!track 3 >it doesnt all have to be techy< as the title suggest there is know >techyness< here, its all about a deeply stormin groove that is enriched with warm melodic keys and a lovely guitar, yes i said guitar that altogether creates a feelin thats organic but not boring. track 4 decimalquivers in and out with a fm gritty synth stab, complete with minimal drums or as scott calls them >drims< which is the term scott uses for minimal drums. also present is a deep pad sound that brews slowly like an eruption. co-produced by panther, a name you will hear more about in the future

supported by alex attias (planet e), italoboyz, karotte, sebo k, raresh, d julz, funk d void. michael melchner is barely at the beginning of his twenties. at the moment deep house of the late nineties has to take a shine to him. in the detail it gets clear, that this is not only a copy of an epoch, but a certain vibe, which is going to be transferred into the present. this vibe with his warm sound, the well dosed house beats and a strong musical sense is hearable, but this sounds by no means antiquated. on a-side several instruments like percussions, xylophone and samples of an mexican trumpet make sure that there isn’t only an exiting variety shortly before or after the primetime, but also a proper portion of itchy feet. with the both tracks on the flip-side the whole spectrum of michael melchner becomes clear, at the one hand a clear view on the dance floor with classical house beats and on the other hand a musical character, which one misses in many current productions. >chen chen< is slightly more co plicated and more rhythmic whilst >nothing happened< is a pleasing leaned back dramaturgical subtle house piece with a distinctive bass line and interspersed voice samples.

its been six months since the last moxie and spring seems like a good time for a new release. spring means joy and so three very joyful, sexy cuts have made it to this release. we can rant on about obscure originals etc, but in the end its about good music and these tracks make us feel good.

steve kotey needs little introduction, head honcho of bear entertainment, an accomplished producer and a member of chicken lips. kotey is joined on this record by max essa. having previously released on paper recordings back in 2001 max also played guitar with the infamous, long distance runners. steve & max have delivered 3 beautiful records in the shape of the salon de l herbe series. this ep offers up everything good that is disco from the up tempo 1974 a side to the spaced out vibes of 1988. if that wasnt enough this 12inch release is finished off with a 3 rd track 1981 on the cosmic/balearic tip. the years may become confusing but with live drums, guitars and slick arrangement words cant do these productions justice. more to come from these two with a follow up in the salon de l herbe series dueto be released in june/july 08, exciting stuff!

phonogenics >postcard< is slow burner, building and rising to a eventual climax of melancholic underwater deepness. this song will no doubt be played by those in the later time slots and anyone who wants to add a little journey to their mixes. our main man dex aka dave barker is back with another slice of some quality melodic quirky goodness. >yikes!< has a very chopped up funk/soul feel mixed with solid house beats. studio trickery and a hidden japanese opera helps the track evolve from its soulful beginning to another world entirely. finally, we are very pleased to bring you the first of many musical efforts from amantu wilde. not much is known about amantu as he is a bit of a recluse and does not offer up much information about himself. >g-g-got my eyes on you< is a very retro sounding track reminiscent of some classic new wave jams. pseudo industrial percussion and excellent filter work make this track something to remember. something strange for sure but we think people will like the break from the mod rn sounds

mo rotation is the next step in the history of westpark units 80s funk influences they started with blaxrotation and fits well within the sound of today! always sexy, dope, deep & dubby. proper thang is as deep as jeep and builds up in the typical westpark unit style with some demanding but tricky drumpatterns and a wicked bassline. to surprise, the duo added some old school snippets into the drop, put them into a different context and present a jewel of a bangin deep house tune with one of the most enthusiastic moments when the beats come back in. mo rotation sets up with just some shakers, a demanding percussion loop, a booming bass and needs almost 5 minutes to get things started. when the bassdrum finally drops in, the club is already near ecstasy while the music takes a small step from 1983 to 2008 and a deep masterpiece

monotonix are a punk trio from tel aviv. they formed in november 2005, set up on the floor of the club with the audience, and the party began. but the party usually got too wild, the power got cut, the cops were called and monotonix were banned from playing again almost everywhere. before long, they were looking for good places to play outside of israel - and they were delighted to find that there are more rock and roll party places outside of israel than inside! today, monotonix are the hardest working rock band in the world. sure, lots of other bands work up a sweat, but monontonix are definitely the only band who puts in the kind of miles they do, and they rock rings around pretty much the rest of us too. these guys do two different shows in two different towns on the same day whenever they can manage it. but thats only the tip of the hard working iceberg. body language sounds almost like a monotonix show. the only thing you cant hear is the sound of your heart beating in your ears after having been chased around the room by a vocalist with his pants literally on fire, then getting dousedwith beer and dancing your ass off to the guitar riffage, then ending it all by carrying the drummer around on your shoulders while a few other guys hold his kit up so he can keep drumming. you dont end up quite as out of breath when listening body language, but you do get a ton of excitement anyway, courtesy of a killer guitar sound, precision power drumming and lusty lead vocals. they recorded body language with tim green (of the fucking champs) at louder studios in san francisco. it twists and grooves with all the fun and fervor of great rock and roll.
