christopher spero a.k.a glimpse has really made a name for himself the way that producers and djs in this day and age should: by making tasteful music of the highest caliber, and putting substance over style. these two tracks co-produced with frequent collaborator and head of the hypercolour label, alex jones, put that said taste on display in a refined and elegant form of house music.true friends pumps right from the beginning with a chunky rolling kick drum only made denser by the thick brushing percussion that surrounds it. before the beats become to overwhelming a soothing male vocals drifts in reminding how hard it is these days to find a true friend. a stark tune of epic proportions. returning with a similar pressure from drum programming aesthetic, which basically means hefty percussion layered over warm and tumbling drums. æcambria sets itself apart from the a-side with a more open-air vibe. light piano notes float along side softly played wind instruments, creating a surreal dreamlike audio experience that still has the tools to do damage on the dance floor. glimpse and alex jones have really put some true style, grace and class into their music. masters at creating a distinctive sound that exist in the space where warm and lush tones meet musicality and stimulation. a summer record with good vibes scrawled all over it.

autonation s sit on the bass was released on esteemed label r&s , 18 years ago in 1991.. (shit! was it really 18 years ago??)
autonation kindly agreed to a re-release two years ago after a meeting in a pub in ladbroke grove. sit on the bass has been a mainstay of label boss jerome hill s sets since it s release all those years ago and still sounds relevent and rocks crowds today.
autonation is none other than seasoned producer dave campbell who over the years has released a vast body of techno, drum n bass, and ambient music under the aliases kibu, hiryze, xtro, greenback and of course autonation on labels such as rising high, certificate 18, r&s, cue and guy called gerald s juicebox.
its an absolute techno classic, but not one of the obvious ones that get rolled out for every old skool back to the 90 s set.. so get on board and be in the know before everyone gets on it!!
jerome hill steps up for the remix on the b-side utilising some fierce rumbling sub bass and keeping the energy levels on 11 for the dancefloor..

loved by jennifer cardini, dubfire, chris liebing, mihalis safras, dj hell, florian meindl!! jakob hilden is one half of format b and part of the project red robin & jakob hilden which was very successful on trapez ltd. jakobs new solo project involves his vocals and band skills from the past which he has fusedhere with the production skills he has earned from format b productions. what we get with the a side track >glamouflage< is a cool and mighty organ grinder with vocals by jakob hilden using catchy lyrics. less minimal and a big hit. the b-side is called >ground n pound< and moves like a rattlesnake with its strong driving percussion.

phantasma volume 2 by dinky, matthew styles and pier bucci is out now. this lovingly designed record is produced by three artists we really like and and it is just grea they decided to work with us again. matthew is damn sure one of our favourite producers and pier s skills are nothing short of his. on the last release we made with them, they d worked together as oblique strategies on balld inc. for phantasma volume 2 pier wrote a track on his own, highlighting the noble beats he is known for and expanding the explicit cadenced patterns with a chord phrase that leads the structure to perfection. dinky whose work was released on such labels as cocoon, traum, vakant and of course on her own imprint horizontal composed the other side together with matthew and you can sense their familiarity at once. the two arranged >choises< carefully, sleek and free of any kind of hubris. well, this attitude is hart to find these days and their versed piece may calm your stressed out ears both in the club and at home

itÆs been a couple of years since victim last released a full 12, but just like the buses you wait that long and then two come along at once. for victim, the >off piste< 12 follows hot on the heels of their split 12 with jerome hill & dont recordings. in the case of ben pest, they are coming thick and fast at the moment, with a recent release on lukes angers bonus round label, and an upcoming 12 on the seriously deranged panic bridge label. so, all in all a busy few months. as for the tracks, they all share in common a seriously weighty bottom end, and a tendency for crunchy acidic midsàbut that is kinda where the similarities end, as ben takes the opportunity to explore various avenues off the main street of techno. from the stomping acid workout of >zeedonk< to the more electro-influenced beats of >pain n gain< this is a record that covers a fair few bases (basses?), although all with the aim of thrilling a crowd that enjoys their techno on the gnarly side.

excellent fourth release on the subcult label, this time featuring fer br & aka carl, the prolific dj mika & new talent on the block kali. fer br & aka carl deliver a wicked a side 45rpm cut with their track pulchritudinous an epic tribal builder with some great chord action that will be perfect for those peak-time sets. flip for dj mika previously releasing on labels such as mastertraxx, yin yang & innervate, dropping a proper heads-down percussive bomb called masha that will ignite the floor. new act kali then finishes of the record perfectly with filter funk a tuff yet as the name suggests funkier cut that works really well. another great release of one of the strongest new labels around

supported by sis, ricardo villalobos,loco dice, robert dietz, markus fix... after kicking off with sis bubu ep(mitu001), mitus second release comes from yet another cocolino crew dj/producer. having released in the past on cecille and la pena, sercan is no newcomer to the game. his music, however, does bring something new. the title track, acuerdate, is an elegant percussive house track with a broad range of styles influencing the way it progresses. sercan smartly plays his dance floor tactics, making sure that with every new element that is added, all of your inner senses awaken… the b side kicks off with flow show, a track that james brown would work his dance moves on. the balance between funk /house / tech / groove is simply right. on the last track of the ep, sercan lays down an ongoing house vibe that will make evry single head nod. a transcendent effect elegantly kicks in, as the tracks old school feel slowly kick in and do it climaxes
