mike minds only previous release, >acid machine<, has been tigas most played record since it was made. a full-time turbo employee, he has spent the past few years getting his brain around making techno, and continues to impress us with his output. his debut ep, >resonate<, is something of a departure for our label, and one we are very proud of.
its amazing to have this kind of music coming directly out of turbo hq, it nails a sound that we have always tried to cultivate. minimal without being boring, trippy without being predictable, unafraid of melody, and with just enough analog imperfection and warmth to it.
both of the remixers we chose represent different sounds in techno that have influenced mikes sound.

giorgio gigli is an italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier.** he is rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, donato dozzy. hopefully we will have more of his tracks on turbo soon.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.

played by richie hawtin, monika kruse, dj hell !! kiko delivers the number eight in the afulab catalogue with his breathe of summer and three tracks that carry a more than a hot summer feeling. cala rossa starts with a catching melody and this sparkling glockenspiel sounds, served in a nice warm bed of funky strong rhythm and driving percussion! planetary is a prime time modern styled electro track with a slight influence by popof. the killer open air sunshine track is the flipside named musco. this is the definite big floor rocker for this sunshine season. its glitter melody and carrying pads will leave nobody with hands in pocket, but surely hands in the air ! we honestly cannot wait to hear this played by the djs around this planet and dance under sunflooded blue skies!!! make sure youll bring your sun blocker ...

david sugar has been a popular face on the uk, and european chip music scene since early 2004. after being selected to take part in the desiel u music tour in the uk during 2006, his profile has risen, and he will now accompany top ten star clavin harris on his uk jaunt in june and july 2007. he regularly plays to large crowds all across europe, including germany and switzerland, now it appears that the rest of the world is catching onto his unique and quirky, but damn fine pop music. deep not cheap: arrangment tight not filter sweep

kyle hall graces us with another jazzy off kilter ear catching release, except this time hes not alone. kyle and four other young midwest musicians come together as bsmnt city anymle kontrol for the title track the perfekt sin, a real soul hitter. one of them is dorian fiddler son of heavy weight detroit producer amp fiddler, letting loose on live drums at age 17. love kontrol is an emotion steering eccentric groover thats sure to excite the senses with its elegant uplifting melodies. oatn out is a rhythm challenging avant garde dusty retarded joint that is a must listen to for the people who enjoy breaking the tempo and arent afraid to throw your average 4 on floor pocket out the window.

one year after his first ep on cargo edition, kostas tassopouls aka ekkohaus delivers to the label another incredibly strong release. the native-born greek, now living in berlin, has developed into an skilled producer who rides the line between techno and house. the combination of reduced, hypnotic and impulsive arrangements with a subtle deepness are typical of ekkohaus’ sound, demonstrated perfectly in the two tracks of this ep. “unsound” is characterized by his smooth, almost elegant rhythm. a repetitive meandering vocal sample weaves through the track, sounding familiar yet haunting at the same time. the track is already played by many key dj’s and is definitely to be heard more often within the next months to come. “moon talking” focuses on a more standard vocal which gives the track some pop-appeal. at the same time the introverted male vocal introduces a very catching harmony which will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the dancefloor. with this ep, ekkohaus cements himself as one of the modern-house talents.

enjoying success earlier this year on splank! with organ dementia/restless, groove allegiance have also recently remixed torpedo boys the disco song for lounge records and break the boxs ghostlicker for ground level. this latest number super squelch has already been doing the business at recent groove allegiance gigs, the title giving plenty away, as wonky lfo noises provide the fills, whilst stomping beats and a twisted electro hook provide the solid dancefloor groove. canadian stalwart macca, head honcho of invasive records, turns up to provide the remix. catching the eye of splank! with his recent remixes of dj dans chop shop (instereo) and robb g & the phat conductors heavy, the macca sound has a hint of breakbeat mixed with a big room electro flavour, and with this remix he stays true to his word. the beats are tight, the fills and edits feel quite breaky, and the hook is hypnotic. this ones perfect for the big arena & just in time for festival season.
