different worlds music group/fat beats are thrilled to announce the lp and cassette release of the latest album from skizz (dj skizz), “cruise control,” which is skizz’s 2nd official producer-album. over the last couple years, skizz has been working extensively with your old droog, both producing and mixing his music, helping to propel the career of the young mc from coney island. he has also been touring with droog, making beats for other noteworthy artists, and helping start a new label, different worlds music group. this will be the 2nd official release from dwmg, with the first being timeless truth’s critically acclaimed “cold wave” album released this past february. “cruise control is a progression for me sonically,” says skizz. “this album takes you from where b.q.e. left off- it’s still that raw boom-bap, but this album is a bit more laid-back and melodious. it just feels good, like you’re cruising with your lady and the cool breeze is blowing through your hair!” skizz recruited a mix of veteran og mcs (o.c., planet asia, roc marciano, evidence, etc) as well as up-and-comers (your old droog, conway, hus kingpin, da villins etc.) to provide a sonically cohesive album that is set to be the official hip-hop soundtrack for the summer of ’16.

auf ulrich schnauss 5tem studio-album “no further ahead than today” regieren einmal mehr die elektronisch eingespielten ambient-pop-hymnen, die längst zu seinem markenzeichen geworden sind. diese sollten fans von künstlern wie jon hopkins und brian eno interessieren. schnauss selbst ist umtriebig - seit 2014 ist er keyboarder bei tangerine dream, produziert unter eigenem namen remixes für pop-künstler wie depeche mode, pet shop boys, todd terje und bryan ferry und hat gerade für die decca-compilation “re:works” bachs “prelude in c” neu in szene gesetzt.
“no further ahead than today” ist klar mehr pop als ambient. starke melodien stehen im vordergrund, die stücke sind mit rhythmen unterlegt, zuweilen gar mit gesang begleitet, eine hymnische note ist immer präsent. spätestens seit seinen beiden solo-alben, die bei dem deutschen label city center offices erschienen, gilt schnauss als ein elektroniker, der manche tugenden des britischen indie-shoegaze-sounds auf seine klangvorstellungen überträgt.

the record opens with utopia , a luminous, evocative and fascinating track by the german artist hyboid, the undoubted leader of space and cosmic sounds. the british artist kid machine replicates on the same album side with the track fighting fears , which includes echoes of disco and den haag sounds. on the other side of this 12inch, we will listen first to monologues , a hypnotic-percussive track signed by the renowned french artist in aeternam vale. non auro, sed ferro by hesperius draco closes down the album, fizzing among their usual coordinates: horror disco, retro wave and soundtrack sounds.

in accord with wotnot s knack for nurturing talent, our first dancefloor sweets featured an early appearance from tartelet & money $ex artist imyrmind, and the first ever k15 house track! volume 2 continues in this vein with a new pick n mix bag of feel-good crowd-pleasers from evm128, body-san, danvers and galactic ganesh, while volume 1 also receives a long overdue (limited) press to vinyl, with a new added track from sexruleseverything.

the erefora land is the first solo record by johan kaseta, lehult founding member. its a nostalgic, hazy affair where the tracks work both on a dancefloor and as the score to an imaginary super nin-tendo rpg. squelching vocal samples (hi!) and bubbling synths are reminiscent of the oldschool, synth-laden nineties game soundtracks young kaseta still cant get enough of. the erefora land is like coming across the soundtrack to earthbound after having forgotten to have ever played it - suddenly a rush of sights, sounds and smells from the past come back to you and gently pull you in.
