fist of facts began life in a basement studio on ludlow street, downtown manhattan, in the mid-80s. the bastard child of liquid liquids salvatore prinicipato & ken man caldeira (part of the liquid liquid extended family and original liquid idiot member) the band lasted nearly a decade during which they created a uniquely downtown new york sound. these tracks sat in storage on cassette tape for 25 years are a part of music history. none of them have ever been heard by the public and it will be released as a hand numbered, 4 colour sleeve limited to 500 12 inches.

its played by richie hawtin, monika kruse, someone else, brothers vibe, anthony collins! with boogie nights he presents a strong track with a heavy bassline, filled with lots of percussions and a nice delayed vocal sample. first part of senkel comes with deep subs and is more dry until the break. beware of the nice clap, that excels impressive in every drumfree second! excellent work! patrick reiths remix of boogie nights is a rollin, massive submonster. he used only a few cutted vocalsnippets from the original track for his breaks. perfect for the prime time

once again a sure shot from this much loved imprint. as they usualy do, one side is an original flavor from back in the days, as the flip highlights the amazing talent of wonder duo the old boys (dont trust the name... they re not that old at all...). killer release again... to me, maybe the best one so far...

recording as lord cut-glass, alun woodward, formerly of the delgados, releases his first album since the delgados? ?universal audio? in 2004. extraordinarily ambitious, ?lord cut glass? was written, arranged and in large part performed by woodward, recalling the orchestral grandeur of his former band whilst forging a style of acerbic, sardonic songwriting all of his own. lord cut glass features galloping percussion, waltzes, marches and promenades of male and female harmony: delicate and serene creations punctuated by casual profanity and shot through with brazenly hilarious words-to-the-wise.

show-b is making a triumphal procession through the heaven of arrangements and the musically modernistic housemusic. complex, but fleet footed, his rhythmic structures produce a soulful symbiosis with the music of long gone times of dance music. traditional elements, such as flutes or rhodes unite with sub basses, crisp kick drums and detriotesque bass lines, culminating in show-bs own definition of housemusic. shallowness, ordinarity and a simple sensation of contentment are not part of this definition.

the mighty umek gets first crack at c est la vie, turning in a typically straight to the point remake, dropping the distinctive percussive hook over a jackhammer groove. ortin cam (drumcode) adopts a more minimal approach with firing snare rolls and a distorted, buzzing cutup loop of the original hook. rounding out the first part of this package is xpansul (ovum, soma) with a dramatic, stringladen take that bounces along on a tough but funky bassline.
