* this is akiko kiyama s 4th full-length album, stemming from two years of exploration outside her established dance floor inclinations, boiling down her sound to its essential organic grooves, intricate harmonies and eery atmospheres. the nature of her organic grooves lies within inter-sound gaps, carefully crafted to lead the listener through time distortions and into an hypnotic solitary world where music is breathed, not played. a sound imprinted of a definitely human character and vigor, yet sometimes ambiguous, fleeting, and capricious. from her peculiar sense of harmony and rhythm, and a meticulous minimal approach to composition, emerges rich lyrical lines forming a unique musical universe that few has had the chance to hear yet.

east wall was an italian electronic dark wave band started by fabrizio chiari (ex keyboardist of kirlian camera) and wilma notari in 1982. “silence” was self released by the band in 1991.
we decided to expand the album, releasing it as a deluxe double lp cut louder at 45 rpm. we have also included an unreleased extended version of “ice of fire” and the bonus track “intro”, found on the dat tapes fabrizio chiari sent us. all songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. it is housed in the original jacket, featuring a dramatically lit photograph of the band by andrea gambetta. each copy includes an 11x11 double-sided insert with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by intergalactic gary, who’s despair mix turned us onto to this album all songs are remastered for vinyl by george horn at fantasy studios in berkeley. housed in the original jacket featuring a photo of a boy by pushe 27. each copy includes a 2-sided postcard with photos of the band, lyrics, and liner notes by flemming dalum.

claudio mate & francesco mazzocco directly from dub-ito headquarter introduce for the third chapter of the label an artist that doesn’t need too many introductions... violet poison... during these last years violet’s music has been one of the most interesting alternative proposal also giving a great influence over ebm, industrial, techno movement with his dark/esoteric imprint. claudio and violet having a longtime music friendship, they both decided that it was the right time to do something unique. for this - voices from the hell - previously released exclusively on tape/cassette by hospital productions, got the placet for a new wax life directly by hospital main man dominick fernow.

in keeping with the labels 303 based theme, things kick off with blue flame, which sees dj overdose delve into serious 4x4 territory with angelic like synth stabs, jackin’ beats and gnarly acid lines. bare bonus bounce is a stripped back version of blue flame that retains the vocal samples, funk and jacking 4x4 beats. the flip side kicks off with acid lovely, a hefty 303 laden electro work out that certainly lives up to its name. the ep finishes off with work is work which retains the vocal samples of blue flame laid out over a raw and gritty electro beat.

a project that came to life fuelled by collectors obsession and a lifelong willingness to dive head- first into unknown musical wormholes, miles whittaker and sean canty have never been defined by a singular musical trajectory. their opening salvo of releases dabbled with the aesthetic of the occult and provided an alternate, parallax view of the italian library records with which they were both obsessed at the time, but as their long running mixtape series and brilliantly curated dds label attest, their interests extend far outside the crevices of early electronic music and into dance music, dancehall, roots, jungle, techno, industrial, noise and beyond. while 2013s testpressing series provided an outlet for mostly club-based productions shot from the hip, wonderland has been constructed with a narrative in mind.from the clipped hardstyle of the opening curzon, through the jaunty dancehall mutations of animal style and fulledge, exotica/house refractions on hardnoise, the frankly ridiculous, bassbin destroying jungle ructions on sourcer, or the extended tease of overstaying, its probably the most enjoyable and loose-limbed hour of music in their catalogue, or that youll likely hear in these weird, angst-ridden times.

(lena platonos) is a greek musician, pianist and music composer. one of the pioneers of greek electronic music, she remains active today. lena was born in heraklion, crete, and grew up in athens. she began learning how to play the piano at the age of two and became a professional pianist before turning eighteen. soon afterwards, she received a scholarship to study in the the berlin and vienna academies , where she was exposed to jazz, rock and middle eastern music. she returned to greece in the late 70s and began working with the hellenic broadcasting corporation.

a good place to start. her basic sound and image were interior-life bohemian, and in some ways she was cagey with her talent. she didnt belt or improvise broadly. she picked a limited range of notes and climbed into them, applying a pinch of vibrato, letting her voice fade and crackle. these tracks clearly demonstrate her guiding desire, which was to explore the possibilities of the slow blues in the late 20th century, whatever that might mean. some of the most intense recordings she made were english-language covers or japanese rewrites of american jazz standards, blues songs and spirituals, backed by only acoustic guitar and drums. she sang slowly, as if there were weights on her. and after a while of her working and your listening, youll hear it: the way she connects intimately with her task but keeps something private for herself (new york times)
