straight out of egypt via berlin comes this excellent two-tracker from the little-known son of sun. according to the press release accompanying the whispers ep, both tracks were inspired by a week sailing a yacht around the black sea. true or not (we have our doubts), there s certainly a sun-kissed laziness - despite weighty kick-drums and hissing, detroit techno style cymbals - about the woozy, dubtribe soundsystem style deep house of a-side -moonchild-. while impressive, the real killer is -whispers-, which peppers a swinging, dance mania style hip-house groove with snaking saxophones and atmospheric, spoken word vocals. it feels like a late night adriatic anthem in the making.

listening to the sound of konfetti klub ensemble creates associations of those sparkling drops that run down the side of an ice cold drink on hot summer days. it�s a very refreshing and delicious listening experience, it�s both stimulating and soothing. if you think the formula brass players + club groove is somewhat worn-out, you will be pleasantly surprised. pomelo comes with bouncy offbeat rhythms, and when the trombone hits in there�s clearly an air of balkan sound. however, around the middle of the track it turns into a joyful freestyle session. mollono.bass puts a bit more emphasis on beats, bass and pressure in his version, in other words: even a bit more emphasis on the dance floor. rotwein und sommerverbot gives a groovy hint why konfetti klub ensemble describe their sound as live brass house � it�s extremely jazzy and casual, a live session rather than a programmed arrangement. even more so schwankel, as it vibrates effortlessly between intricate musical deepness and sheer to-the-floor euphoria. last but not least there is a track exclusively for the digital release: stranddub � beach dub. let�s put it like that: there�s a damn good party happing at this beach.

this 5th release consists of three tracks made by the twin duo manic brothers, one edited by petter b. they have during their relativity short career proven themselves as worthy keepers of the swedish techno heritage with big releases on drumcode a.o. what they bring to bond on this release is their signature big room sound but with a much more simplified approach than previously heard. on the a-side there are two great tool tracks with lots of space for creative interpretation for a dj. on the flip there are a long and epic track with a massive vocal breakdown. groove based but yet with a big and strong hook.

with their cinematic music and john carpenters cover albums, we wondered when a real soundtrack by zombie zombie is going to be out? well, here it is now , the two zombies cosmic neman and etienne jaumet finally sign their first film music for the first feature film from director , narimane mari, loubia hamra (bloody beans), to be released in spring 2014. and we found them there, where we do not expect, because it s not a horror movie, but a free movie, a journey of a group of children from a district of algiers during the war of algeria, who becomes aware of life and death.director narimane mari talks about her experience with zombie zombie and creation of the soundtrack for her movie:-i really wanted the music to be as blood flow of images and that is what it is. sharp, dull, full of strange noises, inner or surging, harmonious or disturbed by noise disorder, which allows to read beyond the visual narrative. we are in the bowels of childhood and it shakes us up when we let our-selves be takeover by the living: the profusion. i didn�t want to make a movie where psychology and reason rule and dominate until our senses are weakened, but a movie that we experience with the body and it is them who made it possible, this total immersion.

after a lengthy break mark henning returns with his new label swing and four on-point tracks. *stash house* kicks things off with a crisply produced groove with snatched male vocals and rounded bass keeping the swing high. *exit acid* ups the energy levels with an acidic tinged b-line proving a grimier feel whilst flip sides *james hughes blues* is all about the breakdown, a neat synth line and huge bass tones lending it a more anthemic edge. lastly *the horror* opts for a lower key ride, fuller male vocal imbuing the track with a sleazier feeling.

33-10-3402 is a code name for nenad markovic, an imaginative and limitless musician and producer from belgrade, serbia. this release is the second in a trilogy of opium den and whore-house inspired singles entitled mecanica. iii33 features a disorienting vocal, that repeats as if caught in a psychedelic cycle your mind cannot break, accompanied by stuttering percussive elements and metallic textures. cool down is a post-apocalyptic drum circle that keeps your groove alert as it moves between accent placement and eventually builds into a full force bad acid trip. be careful with this record.

after a twisted, introduction full of warped vocals and shifting percussion, villain builds into a track designed to kill the rave. dropping into a wall of contorted, metallic bass and vicious drums, minor rain switches things up throughout, maintaining interest - as well as that infectious groove. on the flipside, main core shifts gears with a pulsing, submerged bass driving things forward. combining elements of tribal beats, programmed drums and a stuttering rhythm, main core is a great example of future funk musics ability to put out groundbreaking, forward-thinking music.

very first release of state of grace, new berlin based label. infinite tenderness meets different moods and mental landscapes. on a1 take me down is a bare, dark and sexy 9 minutes sinking, slowly down to the loss of consciousness. on b1 right stuff enchants the dancefloor with a funky and mellow atmosphere. on b2 blue tool closes the ep, with essential jacking bass driving groove and deep melodies.

after some great response from 005 we seem to have a little groove on here and we are ready 006 with what might be my personal favorite ep so far, i find it very hard to choose a favorite here - i hope you do too!

cyber dance records are back on the attack with a fresh release from the legendary perseus traxx aka nigel rogers, a 4-track ep entitled after recent scientific developments an apparent horizon . its a firmly machine-based and totally jam-packed affair reflecting diverse sounds from the uk s own rich history of electronic dance music, with elements from the classic warp -deep space sound- prominent as much as the more usual 303-jacking acid house grooves in the vein of baby ford or bam bam. lost dreams opens the record with a floaty dream-like hipnosis from the depths of space and sets the tone in magnificent style, followed up on side a with the irresistible roll of reverse the trend that takes the groove harder, further and deeperstraight off to the beyond. dark strings reminiscent of old lfo, b-12 or autechre vinyls from the early 90s propel us into side b on darkness stalks , and then we re transported onto the concluding track on the ep, distances , an epic closer that opens with beautiful reverbed claps and acid squelches before diving into an inky black void of timeless space-travelling and slow-building tension that could surely echo hauntingly around any m25 rave in the depths of a late 1980s night.
