new born label hertz records, sprung from the depths of scanian no-mans land, begins its crusade towards world domination with a release from detroit dutchman orlando voorn. the fix man genuinely delivers his best release in years, bringing the high energy funk as usual with two deadly dance floor killers. >enter< is a driving techno monster, with an old school detroit minimal groove akin to rob hoods productions on m-plant or even some of the more tame blacknation releases, updated with a modern freshness in voorns own unique style. but as this music does not translate well into words in our opinion, descriptions are useless until you hear it for yourself
STRANGE WAYS
12 Inch
17.10.06
recent perc releases such as >splashy< and the >razor ep< have been supported by michael mayer, james holden, slam, ozgur can, nathan fake, jesse somfay, marc ashken and avus !! opening track >strange ways< is one of perc s finest productions to date with a slow, shuffling electronic groove underpinned by a huge bassline. this leads to a jaw-dropping breakdown built around a floor-destroying bass attack. on the b-side >yeah< fuses together minimal techno with the london >fidget< house sound to create something unique. again a heavy bassline plays a large part in the track, as does an unforgettable vocal drop. finally >blocked barrel< is a slice of 2006 style neo-rave mixing driving electronic house with the stabbing hardcore riffs of the early 90s

with this brand new ep, his first one on a non-french label, d vincent turning back to 80s electro pop style, espescially on the a side >caps lock<, which could be the instrumental part of a depeche mode tune. not to be taken too seriously, of course ! >less< is more looking towards the actual electro-techno dance floor, and the other b side is a remix of bazoline founder doctor olive s the end of the beginning<. the original was released on parisian label missive music in october 2005 and played, a.o., by laurent garnier. this d. vincent remix was previously unavailable and definitely deserves exposure. in case of laurent garnier, doctor olive,dj hell, jack de marseille, lars sandberg,…!

(LETS) GET DOWN
12 Inch
15.09.06
the sweetversion of let’s get down is based on a basic spanish guitarmelody with uplifting vocals and funky hihats. the funky guitar even gets a little outof tone sometimes, to give that real 12 inch feeling to it. the low bassline combined with the stabbing kick delivers a groovy summerfeeling to the track.the original mix is a powerful clubrecord with an electro twist. especially the fatchunky bassline puts the dance floor to work.the groove remix started out as a experimental version of lets getdown but the vocals were so catchy, playectra decided to produce a more groovy version of it. the rawsounding guitar and crushedhihats makes the track loose his sweetness to give the track a stronger and energetic feel. the long break in the middle of the track pushes the track to a climax. the filtered guitars and loud bassline makes the track a little bit french sounding

modern dance whizz kids treat stephen malkmus to a spin across the dance floor. the original >kindling for the master< came from the acclaimed stephen malkmus album >face the truth<. the guys at domino thought that the arthur russell-esque bubblings of the song would suit their more disco-minded remix friends. they have pulled together an a-list of remixers, the norwegian dance god prins thomas in his major swellings guise, the analogue psych-freak of the emperor machine modern pop group hot chip and the crazed sounds of canadian sandro perri aka polmo polpo. ·the mixes have been picking up fans across the dance spectrum, including mylo, erol alkan, jonnie wilkes (optimo), fc kahuna & unabombers.

it should be no surprise to anyone that >e.c.ged< is a brilliant piece of stripped down, rolling detroit-influenced deep techno.acid undertones supply the backbone to this brooding groove, followed closely by layers of sharp percussion and instantly recognisable live analogue effects. coupled with the huge disco horn section make this subtle but dark beast in to somewhat of an epic!it would only be right for matt to get in on the action and his remix under his rekid alias is an exceptional alternative to what is already a class a-side producing a hypnotic floor-filler

dj support : dan curtin, daniel stefanik, dominik eulberg, jambi, james flavour, anja schneider... gummihz s 2nd release of mobilee comes straight from the bottom of his heart. the concept of >modern dynamic< is based on developing grooves by manipulating the dynamics of a sound, rather than composing melodies. a side consists of a steady groove with a few surprises taking place in the sonic spectrum and a dominating fm tone evolving throughout the arrangement. it is the kind of tune that delivers pure freakness on the dance floor. flipside is set in a deeper atmosphere with a sweet electric piano groove appearing in the end, reminiscent of the starting time of deep house. agony develops during the first minutes of the track, leading to a relaxed groove in theme with the sweet summer breeze

the londoner billy nasty occasionally describes himself in jest as being the >dennis hopper of techno<…. as early as this january, the first collaboration between nasty and gregor tresher, the >black sorcery ep< was released on the electrix label, which is set to be followed up on datapunk with the >imperfection ep<. the ep opens with >iconic warfare< a high energy fusion of classic techno with the kind of saw tooth attack so typical of tresher s productions, and with his incantation of medial sound-warfare, nasty s vocoder voice provides a highgrade identity inducing message on the dance floor. the title song of the ep, >imperfection<, further refines this formula again in a 4:4 tempo with melancholy strings to a hedonistic anthem…

harlem is steve lawlers own imprint delivering killer house cuts this is quite simply, big room house music at its very best musical maestro, drax (adam routh) and cafe mambo deck master, pete gooding, are back! the original mix of harder is a deliciously dirty slice of tribalistic house music, which will turn the sex factor of any dancefloor up to 10 with its big drum funk groove, squelching acid, synth stabs, and teasing female vocals, this kills the floor every time the remix shifts up a gear and jacks the funk to delirious levels of ecstatic abandon
