the 70s saw a growing interest in so called dub versions, an approach based on deforming, stripping and rebuilding the original tune and came known as dub music. king tubby along with other dub wizards such as, lee perry & prince jammy, were responsible for this exciting new dimension to jamaican music. however, most of these dub albums were pressed in very small quantities and disappeared quickly. one of those albums is dub expression by errol brown and the revolutionaries. no gimmicks on this one, he uses simple echo and delay, a few vocals sliding in and out, separate instruments floating on top, with respect to the melody of the tunes. a mixture of dub and instrumentals. enjoy these super tracks!

disco stomper with diva vocals another extremely rare underground record on p&p. this time however and quite shockingly not a patrick adams or a greg carmichael production. nonetheless ôainÆt it timeö is a massive disco cut written, arranged and produced by arthur manning and p. j. wyatt paired with great vocals by soul, disco and gospel vocalist gwendolyn dennison better known for her stage name as queen yahna. queen yahna s career has seen her perform on broadway as maria in the hit musical, -porgy & bess- and the national company of -the wiz- as -evillene-. based in berlin, germany, queen yahna has had a successful career outside theater as well, cutting a few dance records over the year

during the mid-80s and early 90s movin’ records defined the new jersey sound. a skate-shop-turned-record-store run by the so-called fairy godmother of house abigail adams, movins first output was ive got the music by boyd jarvis in 1987, followed by music from game changers blaze, kerri chandler, tony humphries and smack, straight up “jersey jams” that producers are still attempting to replicate to this day. still the movin’ records catalogue throws up gems that sound super fresh along with plenty of lightbulb moments of musical discovery. after becoming a surprise hit from the b-side of kamar’s ‘in every way’, movin’ records presents this remix single to give dancefloors a serious shake-up. kerri produces some heavyweight remixes of this single, along with regular collaborator yahya mcdougald. as with all of kerri’s early productions, this sits proud alongside his latest, more mature output thanks to his naturally instinctive style. the single features vocals from calvin reed sr., kerri chandlers actual grampa!
