during lockdown times earlier this spring two guys (behind bazovoe techno community and the label) realized that many producers appeared to have plenty of free time to spend it on music. in the certain circumstances an idea came to their heads to start a small challenge - make a track in one day - among our community of artists and producers in st. petersburg and russia. starting it just for fun they even couldn t imagine that the overall results would be so much above expectations! so as a result of this challenge during a month more than 20 artists from around russia took part in it sending over tracks they made per one day in isolation. all tracks were immediately uploaded to the label s soundcloud and bandcamp on an every-week base with the reason to support producers in such a way - giving those of them whose music was purchased all the money from sales directly. and already by the end of this challenge it was decided to make a vinyl release with the best tracks submitted. as a result here is the 6 tracker va with the best representatives of our community from around russia that were connected during this period!

dutch duo deep dimension debut on rekids with a stomping vocal cut entitled ‘so 1992’ featuring a collaborative remix from label founder radio slave and rising star p.leone. jeffrey hek & jimmy van de geijn have been actively djing for over two decades. the pair paired up as deep dimension in 2015, combining their talents to form a signature techno sound comprised of deep basslines and powerful kicks. launched earlier this year, their vinyl label named gen x has instantly picked up overwhelming support from the likes of radio slave, tommy four seven, benny rodriguez, kobosil, and many more. they now continue their upward trajectory by arriving on matt edwards’ respected berlin based imprint, rekids. thudding kicks are joined by rising synths as pitched up vocals come into play in ‘so 1992’– the result is a rave inspired techno monster designed to throw crowds into frenzy. on the flip, radio slave pairs up with rekids regular p.leone for a cavernous reimagining complete with rolling percussion, off-beat hats and eerie atmospherics.

absence seizure marks its tenth release this september, a split package comprising one original from co-founder abe duque and two from label-founder matuss. since its launch back in 2015 the new york city based absence seizure imprint, launched by abe duque and matuss has been a platform for the latters original material and across the past nine releases and picked up support from the likes of young male, sage caswell, dorian paic and eduardo de la calle amongst others. here though we see co-founder abe duque join the part to mark the labels tenth vinyl release alongside label regular julia matuss. matuss steps up with crashing hard a murky, stripped-back number fuelled by choppy bass stabs, minimal percussive bleeps and airy atmospherics . next on the package is abe duques 11-27-2016, a typically raw affair from the new york techno veteran fuelled by squelching 303 lines, robust analogue drums and dreamy arpeggios. the b side features matuss sisabuc fresh closes out the package, stripping things back even further to minute, shuffled percussion, stuttering ethereal chords and permeating sub hits which all flow in unison across its ten minute duration.

for his new release on nona records brooklyner max ravitz changes the formula again and delivers five spirited acid electro tracks. the ep will be out at the end of august supporting his european summer dates. for the past several years ravitz has been keeping up his production of house and techno music via different outfits like inhalants, masks, or pulpo and most notably patricia with his last year’s release – an epic 3lp record – ‘several shades of the same color’. his recent effort called ‘free lunch’ explores one of the directions presented on the album, however this time adding more color in the palette.

moscow head-honcho archie hamilton teams up with cousin benson herbert for another collaborative ep on the imprint, bosteled via a club ready reshape from s.a.m. having already garnered support from some of the biggest names in minimal house, including raresh and barac, for previous productions, the ‘swerve’ ep is benson’s second, family-affair release on moscow. a promising up and coming talent, benson’s already played some of europe’s most prestigious dancefloors including sub club, fabric and paris’ rex club. as moscow enters its tenth year of releasing the most forward thinking and respected names in house and techno, label boss archie hamilton continues to release across europe’s most highly revered labels, whilst playing the world’s most exciting clubs and festivals including robert johnson, miami music week’s get lost chicago’s spy bar, croatia’s sonus and estonia’s moonland to name a few. ‘swerve’ sets a powerful pace with a rumbling bassline, offset against gorgeously melodic and minimal textures, it’s a roller that will undoubtedly be thriving across dancefloors this summer. informer, is a complex myriad of winding and hypnotic micro-melodies, which serves as a unique and effervescent follow up to the ep’s first track. denmark’s hotly-tipped dj/producer s.a.m is on remix duties for ‘informer’, delivering a jacking slice of dub infused four-four that deftly utilises the haunting riff of the original.

fracture has always tried to support upcoming and interesting newcomers, people they believe in. chevel is one of them, and in 2014 came his first ep for fracture under his alias signalweiss. he returns now for round two. in 4 years, he has managed to establish himself as a prolific and talented artist with a steady stream of records on labels such as stroboscopic artefacts. chevel is an artist who likes to mix things up, always striking an interesting balance between experimentation and more dance floor oriented tunes. with -feelings- and -forbona-, he creates quite abstract but still effective dance music. it is for the club, but it is not mindless bangers. in the hands of pablo mateo, -forbona- turns into a more mental piece of techno. all in all, this new fracture release provides great tools for the smarter selectors out there.

for their third release keepsakes and jaded nineties raver’s haven imprint are welcoming young irish rising rave upstart tommy holohan to the label for his debut vinyl release - “skull crushing techniques”. making his name through his residency at the techno & cans club night at dublin’s legendary party spot hanger, holohan also showed off his production ability through his dance hit “subaru impreza” and his recent ep on civil disobedience, earning him support and tips from some of the biggest djs from across the spectrum, from mall grab to dax j.

alma negra are back on heist! after their much applauded 2017 release with that great soulphiction remix, theyve been rather busy taking over the scene. they started their new label alma negra records where they released 3 eps in quick succession, with new as well as older material that showcases their tropical roots and keen ear for clubby reworks. they launched their live show, doing gigs across europe with a highlight at one of londons more intimate live venues: the jazz cafe. their latest outing making their release count a total of 4 in only 8 months was on marcel vogel’s lumberjacks in hell and explored the more live / rework side of their project. now theyre back on heist with 3 new tracks, supported by an awanto 3 remix. conversation is a track we wanted to put out on heist badly, simply because it’s a beast of a track. it sits somewhere between a live african drum track, percussive techno and moody midwest electronics, with pads and strings coming in and out of play while a relentless kick drum keeps the energy on a haunting level. this track is alma negra at their filthiest, and it feels like they’ve taken a next step from last years dark and heavy luanda dub, bringing it from an intimate dreamy stage straight into the main room. this is the place shows a different side of the house spectrum with the alma’s love for dreamy deep house. the track flows up and down, with soothing rhodes chords, arpeggios and mumbling vocals setting a summery mood thats perfect for your warm up or daytime party. meanwhile, their third original track from the heart goes even deeper and navigates around a smart vocal loop topped with strings, bleeps, claps and rimshots that just keeps going.
