glasgow based mermaids have been quietly making waves since 2011 with an infectious blend of choppy edit-style punchers and slow morphing body music. the duo have already had releases on their own eponymous imprint as well as nonlocal out of canada, but made their biggest splash on ali oofts recent foto recordings sampler ep fours a crowd. their contribution >run with the night< easily stole the show on the release and made its way into many well respected record bags including roberto rodriguez, ben la desh, andy ash, martin hayes of rose records and the always on point sleazy beats gents. the tides are steadily turning in their favour and have carried them to young adults for their finest material yet.

starting off 2014 with an italian/manchester collaboration - the 3rd release on el diablos social club sees dj rocca (ajello, erodiscotheque, crimea x) & chris massey (electric elephant, paper recordings) join forces to bring us a selection of spaced out, chuggy goodness with just a bit of a nod to certain croatian festivals. drug chug kicks things off with a plodding 4/4 infused with cosmicesque swooshes & whooshes along with a bassline to rattle the funktion ones. whilst synths reminiscent of the time & space machine add that much needed touch of psych to proceedings. shone takes the party to late night in the club where spiky 909 percussion meets chunky analog basslines before dropping in with distorted & reverb drenched piano chords that guarantee to leave a lasting impression on both the head & heart! remix duties come in heavy on this release with craig bratley dusting drug chug with his own style of studio fairy dust to knock it up a notch that will surely please those who have followed his sounds on andrew weatheralls bird scarer imprint, robsoul, foto, is it balearic, instruments of rapture and his own magic feet label. lastly edscs very own head honcho neil diablo tackles shone and lays off the epic-ness and brings a straight up basement chugger. this release has grit & oomph balanced with a good helping of sunshine infused warmth that will ensure its place in the boxes of both house heads & balearic boys all over!

deep space orchestra have been carving out a very nice name for themselves over the past year, and alongside the likes of cottam and krl it&#700,,,s safe to say that they are helping to establish an exciting new movement of raw, detroit-inspired house. the diy approach is very much a part of their ethic, as is the underground feel and aesthetic which imbues their own use of weapons label as well as their recent releases on similarly minded vinyl-orientated labels such as foto and kirk degiorgio&#700,,,s legendary art. the release we have here is perhaps their most refined music yet, showing a development in their production level on two tracks which are brimming with a warmth and fatness whilst retaining that critical raw edge which only a handful of the most exacting producers seem capable of. lo pan builds around a fat, bouncing bass line and a brilliantly lilting groove created by straight 808 hats and shuffling shakers. the feel keeps shifting throughout the song, sometimes superswung, sometimes straight and driving, all the while simple detroit strings build and analogue arps are layered up building the tension in the arrangemen

milan based heels of love is made up of luca saponaro (from krautrock-disco hybrids the love supreme) and michele tessadri (aka fratelli riviera). the pair of them create incredible 80s-tinged, earthy, synthesized music with healthy dose of real instruments. after some nifty releases on mad on the moon and under the shade labels we are pleased to welcome them to the nang family. with an lp poised to drop later in the year, the welcome first dose is the train >chain gang<.
the track features the dulcet (and ever growing in confidence) vocals of tokyo based max essa. the original is a pacey combination of maxs devoesque song, driving drums and the wide-as analog bass synth from the italian duo. are we men? we certainly are.

we re not sure if theres been a whole lot of russian vocal led synthy disco around of late / ever, but we definitely like the idea of it. and so we have the first release on the brand new tirk affiliated label nang. d pulses sound is a sonic cocktail that represents the different flavours of its ingredients. great for dancing, as well as regular home listening, making love or preferably cooking. you can call it russian house, full of spirit, soul and its own philosophy. now on to the tunes. the foto mix of more combines cold robo synth bass and stripped back rhythms with the haunting tale of love, loss and the ultimate fulitility of existence (probably). the original mix lives up to the live jam side to the d pulse manifesto with organic funk and jazzy chops leading the way. fellow russian alcos coolkas carries on where his new work on tirk left off, with simple but sparkling and sophisticated electronics working away with snippets of the vocal to mesmerising effect. the package rounds off with the spacey, warm, instrumental highway to saturn. nang has launched!

das ikonische belgische dj-duo 2manydjs, bestehend aus den brüder stephen und david dewaele, feiert das 20-jährige jubiläum ihres albums as heard on radio soulwax pt. 2 mit einer besonderen re-issue. 2002 erschien es ursprünglich nach einer reihe von radioshows der beiden brüder, damals vor allem bekannt als die köpfe hinter der electronic/indie-rock band soulwax. die re-issue erscheint mit dem foto von richard young auf dem cover, das ursprünglich als cover vorgesehen, aber nach rechtsstreitigkeiten mit tipp-ex verfremdet wurde.
