dieses album hat einen weiten entstehungsweg hinter sich, da seine tracks fŸr viele jahre ein teil von mir waren. als ich letztendlich anfing, ihnen die nštige aufmerksamkeit zu widmen, konnte ich sie nach und nach zu dem zu formen, was sie heute sind. einzelne fragmente und elemente bildeten sich nach und nach heraus, nachdem ich ihnen raum zur entfaltung gab. der gesamtprozess war herausfordernd und manchmal auch schwierig, aber die titel verlangten einfach nach ihrer entstehung.

chicago’s very own works his magic on 4 more classic funk/soul jams: stevie wonder’s “as if you read my mind” and t-connection’s “do what you wanna do” b/w eddie kendricks “girl you need a change of mind” (with a little grace jones) and mothers finest “can’t fight your feelings”. another winner!

for russian electronic music, mikhail chekalin is not only a major character, who has affected the scene’s establishment and development, but also a kind of symbolic figure. his music has been praised by many in the west - from journalists and critics of all kinds to frank zappa and karlheinz stockhausen, while in moscow chekalin’s name was excluded from the official cultural agenda for a long time: he was accused of propaganda of foreign pro-western aesthetics and up until the end of the 80’s wasn’t allowed to release his works or travel abroad. this, however, didn’t interfere with him recording dozens of innovative electronic compositions and contributing greatly to the development of unofficial soviet art in general - for example, providing sound design for the famous exhibitions of twenty moscow artists on malaya gruzinskaya or arranging the first audiovisual performances on a specially constructed light organ.
however, just like all great artists, mikhail himself prefers to focus not on personal achievements, but on creativity. i don’t have a biography - only a discography - this quote of the author may become an entry point of sorts into the compilation presented. this archival collection of works recorded within the period from 1978 to 1987 are chekalin’s multigenre experiments ranging from spatial music (in essence, ambient’s precursor) to more contemporary synthesizer and post-symphonic compositions.

reissue! ae recordings is the infamous sublabel of thule records, which was responsible for some of the finest techno releases from iceland in the early 2000s. this collaboration between two titans of the icelandic electronic music scene, thor & yagya, was one of the pedestals of the thule musik dynasty. originally released in 1998, it still stands the test of time even ages gracefully like a good red wine, where the the harsh tannins of its youth gradually give way to a softer mouthfeel. ooger deliveres finely crafted techno with glacial atmosphere a blend thule records has long time ago perfected. the phuture isn t what it used to be the phuture is cow. ae recordings/thule records is considered by many to be a pioneers in the field of dub-influenced techno music and was a starting point for many of iceland s most renowned electronic musicians.

nice price - all tracks written and recorded by gordon sharp and matt kinnison between 2006–2011 at roi vert, okamoto (japan), 13th floor and space eko (london), southend (essex)... mastered at piethopraxis, june 2011. cut by rashad becker at dubplates & mastering, berlin, june 2011. hold everything dear is the third instalment in the new cindytalk sound which started with 2007s the crackle of my soul, and then last years up here in the clouds. its the first in the trilogy to feature musicians other than gordon sharp namely the late matt kinnison, to whom the album is dedicated. inspired by the john berger book of the same name, this latest release is whole new set of parameters which push the sound on the previous two works to an extreme point of abstraction, and in some places near silent passages and haunted melodic segments. and what a mysterious journey this ends up being with increased use of piano and found/field recordings giving all the tracks a blurry soundtrack appeal to the point where the definitions between the tracks are no longer clearly defined. it harks back to the odder parts of in this world and the wind is strong albums from the early 1990s
