repress , unison wax 01 as a whole is an exercise in classy, reduced house for the summer generation. a-side -seize- crashes into force, with unapologetic bass that seems to be breaking at the seams. perfect for building or taking it down, its simple, four-four quality as dusty hats scatter and float around the top. then the keys hit, sizzling and singeing at the edges like they’ve been left on the grill too long, before the whole thing melts into the break. its hot summer garage house for late evening breakdowns. flip it over and the vinyl takes on a distinctive darker flavour. -groundhog- plays smooth, reduced house elements against a driving, deep bassline that rumbles and pushes you on. around that coils softly pulsating synths that swell in and away from you before the tooly, smooth finish reduces to a close. -special treatment- is smoother though. dusty shakers, jacking claps, druggy synths and a rolling, questioning bassline shows a deeper, darker shade of berlin house before it casually pumps its way to the close... and of course vinyl only

vinyl only , after a short break unison wax returns with a brand new four-track collection of music from the bossman himself, diego krause. the berliner took a year off in 2016, concentrating on other projects and letting the label have a rest, but now he’s back with a refined sound. unison wax embodies a more sophisticated aesthetic, with warm analogue hues and subtle textures to push things forward a little. after all, we couldn’t come back from a break without progressing, huh?! first out of the blocks is ‘nihilate’, which helps introduce this updated unison wax sound, crisp beats lock us into a groove in conjunction with a dainty selection of analogue effects and a funky little b-line. diego carefully adds new elements as the track progresses, keeping you interested right until the end. next is the title track, ‘rituals’, which kicks off with an insistent bassline and spellbinding percussion that keeps you gripped from the off. he throws in some claps to add energy and muted pads, which slowly rise to prominence, giving the track an emotive atmosphere which wraps itself around you. one for the eternal dreamers… flip the record over for side b and ‘dysfunction’, which turns things grimy. marauding beats and bass conspire to create a morose atmosphere. diego’s penchant for super sharp beats is present here again, and the energy builds slowly but surely. a new layer creeps in every few bars and sucks you right into the track’s lair. expertly done, and impossible to resist, this is darkside pressure at its best. ‘eudaimonia’ rounds things off, with more deep grooves. initially propelled by minimal percussion, the track really gets going when more beats are added. it maintains a laid back feeling and, while the drums are solid, the atmosphere is mostly quite soft with swirling pads keeping things light in the top end. when they fall away towards the end of the track we have a rather gnarly close to the composition, as the beats and bass take over. and there it is, the welcome return of unison wax – smooth and refined for 2017…

the production and dj sets from metabomen aka krause duo is constructed for the most part as a free-spirited bunch with a special twist. it doesnt matter whether the material is with a jazz catalog, a frizzy sound, a dragging house or a techno press. an inimitable signature is not only clearly identified, no, but for the listeners of krause duo the good ol 10-second preview doesnt need three guesses. the answer from every contestant in the studio booth comes as if shot out from a cannon, so distinct is that krause formulation. from depth and nevertheless a clubby art with stay-fresh ideas. here, reliable doesnt mean stagnant. for the (up to now) 34th release from musikkrause, ian simmonds is comfortably on hand for both sides of the vinyl disc in the studio. out comes two monumentally deep waltzes full of raunchy charm and a knee-deep appreciation for jazz. the impact of both tracks is so spiritual that to speak of dance music is not the issue at hand, but rather something of a ghostly slam to the body. if you listen closely enough you can hear the diligent work of your own being. by means of the poetically-painted tones of simmonds and the clutter, which despite the many tonal designs and devices in this >authoritive-techno<, it has no fore-bearer. you can also tell the form of the work undertaken by the joint venture krause/simmonds isnt complete by a long shot even though in this manifestation there is nothing left to add. the distribution of dynamics appears to be so well-coordinated that there is simply the thrill of savoring such thoughtful club music

modern forward thinking house music by panthera krause on his new ep for uncanny valley. the successor to his highly acclaimed umami ep is not only rich in giving the dancers material to freak out on the floor. beyond that, all my circuits part i is a perfect showcase for the leipzig based producer s wealth of variety. heppy is a piano driven anthem that will surely capture many hearts thanks to an irresistible dynamic. there s some acid in the veins of stomping ground, a track that you should show your rocker friends when they doubt that there is energy in house music. unraveled dreaming is as demanding with strong sample use as it is beautiful with a build-up for eternity in the second half. finally, le phoque is quite a playful affair with its whirring sounds and driving percussion work. tip!

after releasing one of lobster theremin’s biggest eps in the shape of “rules”, we’re please to finally see panthera krause back in the lobster den with a trippy, head-spinning white label of lucid house and acid.
drawing from a spectrum of electronic-island tropes blended with early 90’s rave, krause develops the chunky mpc-led sound of that first ep by adding layers of shimmer synth work, clanging piano samples, intergalactic acid processing and proper brain-churning drones from beyond the purple sea.

next up on constant sound is berlin based diego krause. this time there are no remixes, just 3 solid club tracks from a producer who is really on form.

the title track has already made rounds on numerous dance floors and proved to be an irresistible organ house monster. panthera krause s tracks wiggle within the zone between epic floor moments and abstract beat structures like in the mighty -z-cuts- or in the flute-induced -howling for july-. finally, the space between us- is an emotional ride through the twilight of eternal loss and extravagant hope. the artwork was created by lisa geue.

nick beringer & diego krause have teamed up to deliver a 3 track ep to our mfd office, the mainland europeans have covered the upbeat corner of the spectrum with adam, and taken things a bit easier with the interesting sounds on focus and premium. keeping on our european thing, we welcomed lazare hoche s posterboy malin genie to work up a driving little dub mix to round things off.

we have never done a project like this before where the artists choose all the remixers themselves. but for the crazy italoboyz album >bla bla bla< we found ourselves not really knowing what to do. so instead of forcing our own ideas for remixers we went back to the source and let the artists run wild on the a&r. marco and fede commissioned all the remixers themselves. the producers they chose are a very diverse bunch and the vinyl 12inch takes a sampling of the best material from two very big underground names. on the a-side das kraus duo turn it a super jackin yet also very haunting rendition of >oh mio dio.< it sounds like pitched up chicago house meets demon days. on the b-side old school master dandy jack turns in one of the oddest records ever on mothership with some unusual sound design, voices and semi-dischordant note runs. super weird for the super weird! whatever you think of this odd lot no one can deny these remixes definitely carry the indistinguishable mark of that ever so quirky duo, the italoboyz
