rough house rosie starts its year by introducing area, a project that has seen action on adventurous underground labels like idle hands, sequencias, ethereal sound, and umhs. the moody four track ep opens with sinuous acid house and a rubbery bassline techno stomper, then gets raw and abstract on the b side. visceral and varied electronic music for the soul.

hvl has landed on many different labels in recent years, but rough house rosie will always be something of a spiritual home for the adventurous deep electro and techno craftsman. across the hidden valley ep he displays a fluid, instinctive approach to composition enslaver rolls out like a live jam but the detail and control embedded in the track is astounding. distom spook is charged with nervous acidic energy, while lemon stealer takes things in a more experimental direction with all manner of snaking synth voices wriggling around a crisp electro beat. crow hill finishes the ep off with a slow, rolling breakbeat groove and hazy pads for a quintessential b2 wind-down session.

the fourth series of silent movie sounds opens with beautiful house tune by nemanja krstic, producer of the memorable track novi beograd on the ninth my love is underground release. queen of deep house, lady blacktronika also features on a side with a slow jam with japanese influence. speaking of the land of the rising sun, opening the b side of rhr 012 is yoshiki tsuchiya aka miruga, who already was part of the label on rhr 006 with his compatriots. seal bient, producer from yekaterinburg makes his vinyl debut with the mesmerizing track slavery

the new record follows 2013s at the back of beyond, which was warmly received creatively and commercially, and inspired ntjam to perform throughout holland and across europe. that was an album that was a part of me, and that needed to explore my poppy side, she says. im grounded in jazz and soul, and pop. but as a songwriter, i really needed to go through that album to learn how to play the guitar, to see and hear what kind of songs i would write, and also to put the guitar on the palette literally being able to pick the guitar up to write.

japanese producer mahal, who had his debut on rhr 006, releases his first solo 12inch with the deep and dubby single, ongaku. on remix duties are notorious lady blacktronika (uq, sound black) and rhr regular, hvl. both offer mesmerizing and addictive interpretations of the original track.

vocalist wayne snow first appeared on max graef s critically acclaimed debut album from last year and later his solo e.p red runner on tartelet records. recently, wayne featured on french producer darius helios ep, which will be out in april on roche music. for this release he s again teamed up with max graef and team tartelet. this second ep rosie delivering a fresh badge of rugged soulfulness over off-kilter chords, body shaking basslines & dusty beats as max does best. combining wayne s falsetto vocals with max s beats and production for a record that heralds the sunshine and a spring of cold beers, rowing boats on the spree and strong sativa.

the third installment of silent movie sounds series features music from four producers each delivering a different cut of deep, hypnotic music. japanese artist mituo shiomi is a regular on simoncino s hotmix records. he kicks off the va with a mesmerizing house track. fresh from his ep on fina records, detroit-based producer appian contributes a thumping track to this 12inch. russian producer alex danilov returns to rhr with a love story to acid. last but not least, the chicagobased coowner of perpetual rhythms, nick marshall aka taelue closes the ep with a deep and emotional track with a solid kick and smooth synth lines.

hvl is back on rough house rosie with a second solo ep. the tracks for this release were recorded in a strange surrounding far away from home and friends. this time everything is more darker, deeper and progressive

rough house rosie dedicates the sixth release to its japanese listeners with a four track compilation from four different japanese producers. legendary takayuki shiraishi (aka planetoid) releases a track nightfall which was first out in 2002 on a cd slow shoutin . he is teamed up with mitsuaki komamura renowned for his unique sound on record label weedis. miruga (ethereal sound / badance) delivers a strong deep track on b1, while mahal has his debut with a catchy bass driven tune as a final track of the ep.

its been an impressive start for dutch label on records. over the course of their first three releases the music arm of the on and on artist agency has gathered fantastic support from many of the techno elite. this big name backing has come solely because of the quality of the music, as it should.
