a long time coming, the first ep from the mysterious duo bernadott finally reaches us. the golem first heard those tracks last summer and noticed his body was moving beyond his control! he therefore decided he should immediately enroll these beat-smiths before the competition took notice. introducing bernadott, the roof of love ep showcases the talent of two underground producers hailing from paris and stockholm, two diggers of the highest order, immersed in musique concrete, italo, free jazz, punk, chicago house and such, two djs devoted to tension, hips & shoulders. with upcoming releases on high profile labels, the golem proudly takes them to the forefront first, unleashing their highly original and leftfield take on the dancefloor. on side a, bernadott turns a white funk forgotten gem, expands it before turning it into a gherkin-esque acid burner with unexpected nods to juke, subtly returning to its post punk roots before you even notice. the golem also wanted to have a nice tune to share with his girlfriend, and he got his wish with side b, another post punk affair autistically turned into a dubby madchester piano choon, a quasi absurd but groovy breezy love song

having both previously released on phuture shock musik, garage experimentalists roof light and lostlojic return to share the honours on a split single set for release on the bristol label. always one to maintain an eclectic approach in his work, surrey resident roof light returns to his forward-thinking best, offering up >pearl< - a sultry number, where jerky beats intertwine with fragmentations of female vox that saunter through swathes of synth pads, glitchy blips, and warm dubby bass. on the flip lostlojic continues the regular theme of passion in his music, bouncing back with >so much<, another r&b inflected dancefloor gem, incorporating a saccharine vocal hook over a bed of lush rhodes chords. soulful as ever, and riding a 4/4 rhythmn just beyond the familiar 140bpm region, this tune premieres a departure from the typically cold, brooding style that the ukraine based producer is known for, to something more suited for the warm summer nights.

some sublime athmospheric techno tracks that go somewhere between dubstep, detroit techno and broken beat / garage. roof light did an excellent job on this 4 track ep with tracks that are light but full of emotion and athmosphere. radiance is for sure one of the high lights with its minimal funky bass line and cut up beats and massive strings layered on top. around here is the main track with its 90s two step rhythm and its deep athmospheric sounds and vocals. ltj bukem goes dubstep? not sure who is the producer... but if its a debut its pretty impressive. great release! must have for all the martyn and 2562 fans!
