mitzi are a 4 piece of awesomeness made up of dominiqe bird, jad lee, charlie murdoch and cale suesskow. they all hail from australias most laidback and sunny city brisbane. some people call it brisvegas because its sexy too. after playing in various killer bands such as bmx (2009 unearthed parklife winners), comic sans (2010 unearthed st jeromes laneway festival winners), charlie why! (recent bang gang 12 inches signing) and the gallery kiss all the dudes have united to create some genuinely exciting australian music. the three tunes on >all i heard< fuse the sounds of garage disco, nyc indie and the light heartedness of australian pop. jono ma (lost valentinos, tracy thorn, teenagers in tokyo) mixed the record at ewan pearsons studio in berlin and made all those trumpets, snares, keys, whispers and vocals sound ridiculously tight. future classics history has always been rooted in bands and were pretty stocked to be getting back into it. plus its our 50th release!

fina records welcome jad & the for a new ep that shows off the australian-born, berlin-based producer’s majestically melodic house sound. a special dub from 6th borough project makes this another essential release. before now jad & the has served up tracks of the year (‘strings that never win’ - mixmag 2017), fronted four piece live act mitzi—who played alongside the likes of nile rodgers—and also produced as jad & the ladyboy, all the while picking up fans like moxie and bradley zero. sonar kollektiv and toy tonics have put out his charming sounds before and this new one is another joyous offering. the feel good ‘2 getha (4 eva mix)’ kicks things of with old school drum breaks and loved-up vocals. big smeared pads, a new age melody and classic bassline line finish it off and carry you away to summery house heaven. ‘twist club’ then drops into lush deep house with a long legged bassline tumbling beneath organic drums. it’s a dreamy and romantic cut before ‘disco hold down’ has live sounding jazz drums, choppy vocals and rough edges that take you to the heart of a vibe-fulled basement party. delusions of grandeur’s 6th borough project serve up a dub that’s more stripped back and built on a big rubber bassline. jacking drums and a more rapturous vocal make it a truly steamy jam.

the jam starts with -orange sunshine- (doesn t it always?) of course as usual it takes a while to kick in and by the time it does it s obvious helltown acid militia are back with their time warping spaceship. by the second track -still turning- the fog clears a little, but there are still echoes of a time past, what is it? can t quite put my finger on it... on the flip we are met with chunky 909 rhythms in -more important-, because what s more important than a 909 rhythm track? for the final outing -broadcast- (which may be the real hidden gem here) the tempo drops and there s chord stabs, strings and talk of ufos. its at this point that you realise that the label on the record has a picture of mitzi the cat, in a space suit, holding a white 303!! this acid really is a trip.

* the production duo behind the rave-new world sounds of turbo mitzi and big slug (feat. riko dan) have been busy in the studio recently and return to form with 2 killer cuts designed to shock out the dancefloor. * ’control’ picks up the tempo from the duos previous cuts, rolling at 140 beats per minute, in it’s apocalyptic form. powerful pads create the tension before sub-heavy kicks and cybernetic snares come pounding and chopping in, building up the mood before a radioactively charged reese-bassline emerges, rising to the surface, unleashing its terror. this is a stone-cold banger. * strobe light’ returns to the more familiar 128bpm tempo that the pair have previously worked with. taking a quite unique approach, ‘strobe light’ builds evermore, moving into the light, layering percussion up as an intoxicating drone of swirling strings swells and swells - entrancing and empowering in equal measures. this is a highly versatile dj tool that also makes for an engrossing listen from start to finish. refined dancefloor ear candy. dj support: mary ann-hobbs. modeselector, daniel avery.

off the back of their first ep release, super fun bumper editions trends, which received support from the likes of xl8r, thump, future classic, and bradley zero, beats of no nation is now gearing up for its second release by the chord memory band. chord memory band is a recent collaboration between michael medlycott (from the band vulture street tape gang) and dom bird (bonn co-founder and member of the live disco 4 piece mitzi). at the end of 2016, michael and dom caught wind of a cave, nestled beneath a sacred mountain, deep in the australian outback. the rumours described a cave filled with nocturnal animals and ancient flora, but more importantly, a stash of vintage synthesizers and drum machines. guided by whispers and caught up in the mystic mystery of it all, the duo set off with a dusty four-track tape recorder in an attempt to capture these mythical cave vibes and place them on a record. michael and dom surfaced several months later, with four recordings and no memory of what had occurred. these recordings became their synergistic third eye ep – an analogue journey into the spiritual world, with one simple message, the answer is inside.

the australian dj, producer and musician jad lee likes to have several irons in the fire all at the same time. for instance hes a member of mitzi (along charles murdoch and dominiqe bird), one half of the pan-pacific indiepop duo twiggy lashes and a solo artist known as jad & the ladyboy. under this moniker he releases music which can be described as soulful house with plenty of disco influences. for never come back down jad had singer mark borgazzi in his studio to cut a precious, groovy two-stepper into a genuine pop diamond. in order not to get only radio airplay, but also to be played out in gloomy underground clubs with extra fat subwoofers yannick provides his homicidal sexfactmix. with its untamed bassline and a milling-machine like synthesizer this feels like an unchecked punch to the gut. there will be blood on the dancefloor!

jack vanzet is a melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and visual artist who records under the alias thrupence. his debut ep voyages was released independently on the thrupence bandcamp. he has played outsidein festival the same year alongside flume, shigeto, smoke dza to name a few, supported chet faker at revolt in melbourne, sold out his voyages ep launch at workers club in melbourne and played alongside oliver tank, mitzi, lost animal at melbourne music week. pressing on translucent blue, multi-color splattered 180 gram vinyl, download code included.

>this mix was the perfect chance to sit down with pinch & bring together a sonic which we both feel we have been working towards for a while, albeit from very different angles. in my opinion the dance music climate in the uk is enjoying a healthy & extremely interesting transitional period one which i would draw parallels to the 93/94 proto era when people were literally making up the rules as they went along. this mix is a ode to that time & our attempt at throwing some ideas out there, with the hope of sparking some imaginations & pushing things further forward< - mumdance
