auf den ersten blick ein leiser mann, doch gib boshi san ein mic und du begreifst es. seine musik inspiriert durch die schritte, die er geht und die einflüsse, die ihm auf seiner reise begegnen. mal geht es hoch hinaus, dann wacht er am nächsten morgen wieder am boden auf. durch höhen und tiefen, upgrades und abwege. hauptsache nicht aus der bahn werfen lassen. Über 30 und immer noch ein rapkid, das genau weiß, was es will.

night visions is a collection of stories which dance alive over an infectious blend of afro-latin rhythms and contemporary dancefloor beats. told by a variety of characters, drawn from the vibrant imagination of chico mann, these stories take place in an endless night, where we move through dimly lit clubs, jungle moonlight, pitch black desert plains, and the internal shadows of personal darkness. while the characters often stumble and search blindly in the dark, the persistent presence of a distant light provides an underlying direction and hopefulness to all the songs. captain planet s production, informed by his regular crowd-moving dj sets, keeps the album sounding effortlessly danceable & contemporary. meanwhile, chicos vocals have an instant classic appeal, hinting at old cuban rumba and vintage afrobeat lps. the two are aided by guest vocals from regular collaborators kendra morris & brit manor, as well as some talented friends who contributed additional horns, guitar & marimba

das aus der band die türen hervorgegangenen projekt der mann präsentiert uns die unglamouröseste kunstfigur der popgeschichte: das rechnerische mittel des mittelalten, mittelschönen, in seiner hypernormalität schon wieder verstörenden, ja, freakishen mittelschichtmannes... remixe gibts von deichkind, erobique und ill till.

*one hand in the air* bezieht sich beispielsweise auf *so appalled* von kanye west - manfred mann hat dessen original nun neu arrangiert. mit the prodigy und disco boys verfährt manfred mann genauso. zudem liest sich die gästeliste beeindruckend: till brönner spielt auf jedem zweiten stück trompete, kris kristofferson leiht einem stück seine stimme und kanye west ist natürlich auch zu vernehmen. zudem wagt sich manfred mann an neuinterpretationen von klassikern wie *light my fire* oder *we will rock you* - absichtlich stücke, die weltweit hinlänglich bekannt sind. manfred mann erklärt: *gerade weil jeder die stücke in- und auswendig kennt, habe ich in meinen interpretationen die optimale freiheit. wenn ich passagen weglasse oder neu arrangiere, denkt der hörer diese ja trotzdem mit*. neuinterpretationen - von bob dylan bis bruce springsteen - haben manfred manns gesamte karriere geprägt, *lone arranger* führt diese tradition somit fort. und keine frage: das album bleibt bei aller konzeption typisch manfred mann, nicht zuletzt weil die spielfreude am keyboard vernehmbar ist.
