things tend to move in circles until they are complete. such is the case with wph ten-8. when fcl released their ‘cherry pie e.p.’ on kai alcé’s ndatl label it was already decided that kai alcé would find a home on wph as well. and with his absolutely stunning string of remixes of recent years in mind it made sense to ask kai to take up remix duties for a new fcl release. . the result is a release that oozes soul all over. the original track is fcl’s ‘let’s make a track and have great singers aka lady linn and gustaph singing about house music’-moment and kai’s remix is…well…simply another amazing slice of soul from the man that can do no wrong. it’s house music…as you should know it.

torino label we play the music we love has already made a strong start with some immersive turns by trevor deep jr and rills, and now they provide a platform for italian duo luminer. -indaco- is a charged up dub techno excursion with crisp percussion to propel the classic chord shimmer that course through the centre of the track. -canadian- takes a deeper direction with a crafty tapestry of synth flares and a more understated rhythm section. hiver s reconstruction of -indaco- opts for a crooked electro foundation, nimble acid line and a shapeless swell of pad tones as the key ingredients, and then icelandic techno champ thor whips up a sharp-strutting dub techno variation of -canadian- that sits comfortably with the luminer tracks.

when wph boss red d heard toriton being played by ken ishii during a wph radio takeover on belgiums studio brussel radio station he ran to the booth and knew this track had wph written all over it. not abiding to any trends, just devastatingly beautiful house music. some licence negotiations and months later satoshi fumi agreed and made lalalalaland, a brand new track to go along with toriton and make up this ep the title track has that unmistakable detroit feel that takes you from melancholy to euphoria and back, while lalalalaland has been described by people hearing it in red ds sets this summer as japanese sunset trance or end of the night eyes closed hands in the air stuff. whatever the words, its the music that counts and satoshi fumi takes his place among the wph family in style!

its been some 7 years since reggie dokes was last seen & heard on a wph release, so safe to say this one is long overdue. our detroit hero took a bit of a hiatus from music production in recent years, but he is back and has been cooking up some serious heat. on wph 004 one of the tracks received a slight edit treatment by fcl and so red d decided it would be a nice twist to do the same on this one. but seeing as san soda was globe-trotting again red d handled the edit duties solo. which is all academics really, because in the end its about reggies unique detroit sound. transpose & jazz is my mistress will appeal to any adventurous dance music dj because they cannot be categorized or compared to anything. they are reggie dokes tracks and reggie dokes tracks are what they are: reggie dokes tracks

we play the music we love is an italian and uk based party that after 7 years of activity has decided to start with its own vinyl only label. the first release comes from one of the founders and resident dj of the collective: rills. he clearly stamping his mark on the label with two solid tracks to launch things with some claut. the two original tracks, one featuring sinderesi, explore some dubby house territory with mesmerising chords that will be appreciated on any demanding dancefloor. the additional remix is from the producer of the moment: samuel andre madsen a.k.a. s.a.m. (oscillat, delaphine, mandar, fathers and sons).

this one has been in the making for a loooong time and we do believe you will agree it was worth the wait. tj kong has been releasing some serious vocal house masterpieces over the past year on compost and other labels of fame, so it was only a matter of time before they ended up on wph. when it comes to vocals few do it better than gustaph, the belgian lead vocalist of hercules & love affair and a close friend of the wph family. inside story: gustaph provided non-credited (but paid) backing vocals for fcl’s ‘it’s you’ stormer. with tj kong gustaph takes up the role of both lyrics writer and vocalist and does so to devastating effect in absolute perfect unison with the track provided by tj kong & modular k. it’s classic but very very fresh. on the flipside tj kong & modular k team up with french wonderboy art of tones aka llorca for a trip into house music stabs & strings bliss. if the dream is always the same, we do hope this is the one you are re-dreaming. wph ten-3, niceness to the max!

with our regular 12” series both coming to end some people thought that wph would end as well. you should’ve known better, because there is too much gorgeous music coming from our small wph family to just let other labels shine with it. and so we have decided to throw caution into the wind and embark on a new story. a story in which our artists get to tell their story by means of a full album. at the heart of metrobox’ sound is a love for moog, 909 and sh 101 sounds, combined with a knack for seductive melodies and a healthy dose of vocal action. two collaborations with wph head honcho red d and belgian mc champ tlp add some extra oldskool flavor to the proceedings. and yes, we are well aware of the fact that double or triple albums are heavy on your budget and that you all prefer to shell out 15 euro for a one-sided limited detroit release instead of a 12” with three tracks you like ... so this album will come in three separately available 12”s, giving you complete buyer freedom.

wph ten-2 follows…wph ten-1! sometimes life can be really simple. so now, the music. vintage dynamodyse (who is also srf inc of course, with some help from his friends) is what you are getting here. but seeing as our deep man from cologne isnt exactly the most famous producer on the block, well just remind you by saying that the music is deep house that has absolutely nothing to do with what all techsters and hipsters have been calling deep house. just listen and play the f..ck out of these two!

reissue of a unknown b-side of an early belgian trance outfit release. before they made euro trance they made this heavenly balearic gem. it screamed for lauer remixes and he provided…
unless you have been sleeping it should be pretty obvious that wph head honcho red d has a weak spot for early belgian trance stuff. before trance was even known as trance that is… the early 90ies were the post new beat era in belgium and loads of producers were experimenting with new sounds to steer away from the blatantly commercial new beat chart stuff. so that is when the magic started happening.

*in the beginning* is the inaugural release of romanian vinyl­-only imprint we play wax, that joins the italian giovanni damico and his close english friend tomson for a special 12 inch release that has both artists remixing each others original tracks. with a vocal featuring by keter darker and a beautifully designed dj­friendly package by romanian artist lar pavel, *in the beginning* is already making a buzz. out on the first day of summer on heavyweight 180­ gram black vinyl!

the wph vinyl only coloured series that started back in 2009 with san sodas purple ep.has ran out of colours. there is one more edition in that series coming your way, but thats for somewhere in the spring.

every wph summer brings us…the wph summer special! well, some summer specials have been known to be released in the winter, with huge acclaim from the cold masses who had something to warm their hearts and souls to. so we figured we would release another summer special in the winter… the mysterious-but-not-really harry baldi kicks things off with ‘something for your mind’, a sample-ridden up tempo house workout that will also go down a treat on techno floors. solid yamaha bass anyone? up next we introduce a new belgian member to the wph family. dj miclem has quietly been working on his music and now it’s time to let some of it out of the studio and onto your decks. this is the vintage wph sound that got us on the map!

wph kicks off 2015 with a new e.p. by the mighty luv jam from wales. living in a universe that is entirely his own andrew cole has cooked up two more of his ‘especially for wph’-tracks. one here at wph hq can only be flattered! ‘californian freestyler’ is the more peak time burner of the two, but ‘bmx bandito’ will not disappoint the more discerning punters out there either. on remix duty we find the main artist from our friends at uncanny valley in dresden, jacob korn. any work by jacob is always a treat and this here is no exception. flexing our digging talents we have also licensed a luv jam remix from the good people at panta rhei that was only released on limited 7”. we feel it deserved to be on a 12”, so there.

responsible for the still stunning wph 006 in the early days of the label, we are very very happy to have russ gabriel back on board for another stunning e.p. three original tracks and one remix by label boss red d and his young buck kiani & his legion, both huge fans of russ gabriels work old and new. fact: red d has the most extensive vinyl collection of russ gabriel music in belgium and beyond.

dj dag is undoubtedly ranked as one of the german dj legends and just celebrated his 29th dj anniversary. arisen from the early frankfurt techno scene and well known due to his residencies at dorian gray, omen or u60311 and his consistently gigs at space ibiza. alongside his studio partner matthew kramer we are welcoming dj dag to the weplay label! with *follow me* these guys really flashing your ears and mind: 2k14-sound but still with an old-school vibe, hypnotic and dreamy but still driving atmosphere – an extraordinary mixture only dag and matthew can do!

much has been said about fcls remake of the e.s.p. classic from 1986 its you, up to the point where everybody was wondering what the boys would come up with next.

in the long line of belgian talent finding a home on wph (think san soda, lemakuhlar, metrobox, locked groove, …) we are pretty sure that kiani & his legion (aka thomas neyens) will claim his rightful place within a couple releases. because just like the other family members kiani has his very own distinct sound. totally kiani and also totally wph. kiani & his legion should have already caught your attention with his free *records & culture* vinyl in wphs v.i.p. series and he was also responsible for *legions of the east* on the recent wph summer special 2013. being a vinyl lover himself it seemed fitting that we release his full e.p. debut on vinyl only (grey coloured & marbled), containing four tracks that will show you the full spectrum of his house music universe. the key words in that universe are melody, breakdowns, surprise and emotion. it is pointless to describe the tracks one by one, simply listen, enjoy and most of all…dance!

wph 019 brings us art of tones with lauer remixes. art of tones is of course the much-praised aka of llorca, has long since moved on from his f-communications days and is without a doubt one of the finest and most accomplished house music producers of our time. but we digress, because isnt this all about the music?
