perm is one of leipzig s most busy producers and performers of electronic music. after releases on shtum, mana all nite, dur, kann and nachtdigital in recent years, holger is more than happy to welcome him with a four-tracker that o ers a deep insight into his vision of timeless techno: airy and yet rmly grounded, with a foggy atmosphere that permeates a vast space of sound. it is trippy and hypnotic but also very bodily and highly energetic. with these qualities it ts very nicely with holger 11 (polo) and 12 (barnt) a perfect closer for this mini triplet series, a concept that has become sort of a trademark for the label.

mana all nite is another imprint of dj duo manamana. next to their artist focused label kann they are going to establish a new vinyl platform. mana#2 comes from leipzig based perm and new orleans located spirituals - two pretty outstanding producers, who serve three different hypnotic vodoo-house bangers. read the not included package insert: best use to energize the dance floor!

‘family horror x good times’ is an extensive 15 tracks compilation, where the leipzig label reflects on an intense and impassioned decade. kann asked close friends and long time idols to play their part to the full to complete the third edition of the label’s family horror compilation series. the outcome is a clear snapshot of the musical inclinations of the three label founders, sevensol & map.ache (aka manamana) and bender, encapsulating an idiosyncratic, modern house sound that demands an emotional response. the compilation comes rounded off by a booklet of photographs from ria aka lux which just like the music captures some of the beautiful ‘good times’ from this very special period, this time on paper.

following a splendid album release from falke earlier this year, now comes a remix selection that linked friends and personal idols: samo dj, vakula, perm & ergin erteber (1/2 of things from the basement). utilising the original stems to rebuild unique characteristic jams. o.n.g. – versions satisfies with hypnotic percussions, etheral grooves, varied velocities and cryptic 80s references.

following up the inaugural release by glos, escapism 002 is a mesmerizing two- tracker by one of leipzig s most talented producers, talski. he is part of the institut fuer zukunft crew, co-runs dur records and also performs rare live sets together with his friend perm as pandt. soothsayer shows why analogue production skills are still highly appreciated in contemporary dance music. by limiting himself to only a few machines, talski manages to create addictive and reduced tracks that focus only on the essentials. this comes especially apparent on soothsayer i which although stripped back, builds tension, has atmosphere and is driving. soothsayer ii is more evolved. straight enough to keep people on the dance floor, yet with a fragile and melancholic beauty to it, that sticks with you long after leaving the club.

2016 repress, comes with the original artwork. long time 154-compadre aroy dee, known for releases on rush hour (together with the m>o>s collective), comes with the goods on the immaculate nwaq-imprint. two bass-heavy pieces of euphoria bringing back the good old days of smaller towns, over-anxious smoke machines, lousy cocktails and smiling shirts. oh, and girls with perm, tracksuits galore and getting down with the pina colada magic tour. we had the moves, the style, the action and the pussy, and we glance back at it with a slight touch of melancholia.. thanks mr. dee, for bringing it all back.

the first compilation on the dresden based label shtum unites three label regulars and one newbie with four tracks suitable for rampant basements. -motorcity racers- has been on rotation for quite some time amongst the label heads and is the first sign from poland s chino on shtum. it floats somewhere between dirty detroit and the rough corners of the netherlands. leibniz delivers the -real life-, a relatively straight follow-up to his latest ep, while jaures hit their drum machines like there is no tomorrow. perm s cut is all loopy and succeeds in creating an irresistible atmosphere with just a few elements. the artwork comes courtesy of carl-johannes schulze.

kann selected another proper * family horror* 8 track compilation with both renowned and new faces, after the first edition saw the day of light in 2011. check out the range that represents their own vision of spacey house & deeper techno nowadays. for this reissued family celebration the following relatives joined the stock: pablo mateo from hot burning lack rec., knutsson / berg - a sweet swedish collaboration of hans berg and johanna knutsson, llewellyn aka lake people, hiver from curle recordings fame and more of the label’s local connections such as perm the analog prince, falke, qy and alkohole.

rothmans are back with there first release of 2014 - coyote - the socrates ep. this time the guys are paying hommage to one of the more contriversial stars of the late 70 s/ early 80s the absolutely legendry dr socrates! this 6th release by the the retro, football mad, perm loving lot sees them take a step away from the various artists format into the world of ep s. and what a stomper they have in the form of the is it balearic...? boys coyote. featuring on last years claudio gentile release the boys are back on rothmans and in fine form with a mixture of psychadelic disco and funky balearic beats that would make dr socrates himself stand up and shake that afro all over the dancefloor. and joining them on the team sheet are a pair of knock out players in the form of mark e & ste spandex. mark e putting his silky skills, and attacking mark on passing memories, and then ste spandex bringing it up the rear and joining him in attack with a live vhs remix of act like you know. the rothmans label seems to be taking shape now and looks like it could be also putting together a dream team of releases

praterei might not be the most prolific of labels, but the quality is always way above the quantity. the fourth release on the viennese imprint comes from local boys done good the new tower generation, with a heady two track offering that fits right in with the labels ethos of focusing on the essence of house. the amusing titled >horny goat weed< is a perm twisting delight, with the grainy string sample remoulded to align with the loose jacking rhythms and rave indebted keys. >trembolon< finds the new tower generation in an altogether mellower mood, building with poise from its sonorous beginnings to a glorious mid point crescendo of rising synth lines.
