downtown party network released their first single days like these back in 2009, which quickly become an earworm for clubbers in lithuania, ibiza, the uk and everywhere else. the mission had to be continued, so summer of 2009 was greeted with the second record on eskimo.

in the country mario & vidis come from cover version is a little bit of a curse word and arouses serious suspicions whenever mentioned. even the biggest pop names do half of their gigs and have half of their income just performing well-known songs and impersonating well-known international artists. but when the vocals of bon ivers >re: stacks< recorded by up and coming british singer songwriter james barbarossa mathe were sent their way they didnt have a slightest doubt. not an obvious track selection and a really unique vocal treatment inspired them for a cover version of a different kind. as yet another proof of superior quality the release comes with a remix from Âme. vinyl only and limited to 300 copies this one is a little bit special.

special tracks have a special story behind them.and this one certainly does. after mario & vidis recorded a couple of tracks with ernesto for their debut album changed they invited him to perform in their home country. during his short stay in lithuania ernesto performed two times and both times closed his set with a track called care. it was kind of a mash-up - swedish singer & songwriter was using lyrics of his old song to sing over metro areas classic caught up to a big effect - leaving the packed dance floors to a sing along to lyrical hook of sisters and brothers, smokers and lovers, care for me every time. big fan of metro areas sound vidis offered him to do a reversion of this mash-up using caught up as a reference and inspiration. the vocals were re-recorded, new arrangement was done, and the song was tested in the clubs as well as live on stage. so here it is - another big tune from the three to sing and dance along

2011 has seen a string of stellar releases from the dynamic force giving house music a new accessible heartbeat, mario & vidis. now, ahead of their album set for release in january, the >changed sampler< lands featuring a dub version of future classic anthem >changed< and three additional choice cuts. an apt advocate to the new age slow house sound they are making their own, mario & vidis will fully unveil their masterful debut album >changed< this coming winter but here lies a taste of both proceeding discs. a prelude to the wide musical terrain these lithuanian scene pioneers are striding through, the album sampler captures a glimpse of the epic soundscapes, hypnotic pop melodies and ghostly soul that ultimately leads into raw house on disc two.

this compilation brings together 22 sound poems, including both pioneering and current pieces, and constitutes itself as the first great overview of sound poetry from peru.

in den 1980er jahren waren die züri brännt-krawalle gewalttätige proteste gegen die exorbitanten kultursubventionen der stadt, die auch die kulturprogramme für die zürcher jugend abgebaut hatte. der platzspitzpark war seither für seine prächtigen gärten und seine barocke architektur bekannt, bis er zu einem treffpunkt für heroinkonsumenten wurde und fortan -needle park- genannt wurde. die behörden erlaubten den illegalen drogenkonsum und -verkauf im park, um das problem zu lösen, aber der mangel an vorschriften führte dazu, dass drogenhändler und -konsumenten aus ganz europa anreisten und kriminalität und Überdosen überhand nahmen. zürich verwandelte sich in ein chaos aus gewalt und wut, schlamm und benutzten nadeln. aus dieser atmosphäre entstand die musik auf diesem album. ursprünglich wurde squares and crossings 1986 auf calypso now veröffentlicht und sollte teil einer reihe namens the guild sein, einer sammlung von musik, die von schweizer musikkritikern geschrieben wurde. mario scherrer war der einzige, der auf diese einladung reagierte und somit der einzige, der für dieses projekt verantwortlich war. diese produktionen sind mit punklack überzogen und vermischen gleichzeitig elemente von new wave, pop, musique concrète, improvisation, poesie und ambient, was nur sinn macht, wenn man aus der gleichen stadt kommt wie die heimat des cabaret voltaire, dem geburtsort der dada-bewegung. dieses album ist nicht nur ein künstlerisches tagebuch, sondern hat auch eine ökologische affinität zu dieser momentaufnahme der schweizer geschichte.

max loderbauer, who has so far made consistently engaging contributions to the arjunamusic family, is back to lend his unique interpretive skills to the master recordings for the brightbird album by joão paulo esteves da silva, mário franco and samuel rohrer. loderbauer has set himself up for a challenge, since the original album’s completely improvised flow of small-ensemble, conversational jazz feels complete enough without outside intervention. however, loderbauer’s role as electronics operator in the similarly attuned ambiq trio has already shown that, through his mastery of tone color, he has a talent for teasing out the additional hidden details within an apparently ‘complete’ sonic environment. it’s a task he manages to accomplish without ever overriding or contradicting the cohesive message provided by his collaborators.
