throughout the ages man has been obsessed with the idea of the dead coming back to us, either through the power of faith, magic and/or science, or as (horror) arousing visitations from beyond the grave. but cold hands like these neednt be physical: an ambiguous childhood memory, a few burning phrases from a book, or a short but powerful patchwork of tones and rhythms can also come back and haunt you when you least expect it. ritual malmö 02 consists of three such works that have haunted us for some time now, beseeching us to share them like cursed japanese vhs-tapes. who we are is not important - this is forever yours now.

ritual is a collective of djs and producers from malmö and copenhagen. after several years of orchestrating ruthless techno nights, we have decided to turn the sweat and blood left behind on our floors into vinyl. this is the result.

the sixth release from solkyss is a real smorgasbord with influences from all over sweden. edvin wikner, head chef and local marathon dancer, serves us an original production accompanied by a collaboration with malmo-based per hammer. trauma tribe celebrates their shared love of extended morning sets—a passion ultimately manifested at emmabodafestivalen two years ago when they broke swedens record of the longest dj set to date, playing for 24 hours straight. the original kai saa comes with an outstanding remix from no other than arkajo.

advanced deep driving techno from amsterdam! jp enfant s let recordings continues to slowly but surely build a fine reputation, and in fact his last ep on the label featured a track, sirens , which got used to great effect by daniel avery on his acclaimed dj kicks mix. now a fourth interesting ep on let recordings comes from shoal, who makes his first out on vinyl after a digital release on planet rhythm in october. utrecht based shoal aims to balance his techno sounds somewhere between rhythmic hypnosis and detailed soundscaping. he urges listeners to twitch out of their comfort zone and to really engage with his music. that is made all the more easy given that it is such inventive stuff. a powerful ep from this emerging new artist.

after 19 years in the game, techno veteran jens lowtec kuhn is still going strong. while he s recently been in a nostalgic mood as reissues of early material prove kuhn is still capable of producing fresh, high quality material. there s much to enjoy about this first ep for new malmo label blundar, from the loud tape hiss, spooky melodies and weirdo ambient dub intent of track 2, to the moody, early autechre throb of skam-ish closer track 4. dancefloor-minded thrills come in the shape of hypnotic opener track 1 all unsettling, one-note chords, restless rhythms and distant electronics and the hard-topigeonhole madness of the schizophrenic track 3

josefine hellstrom hanssons debut track -water cave- on hmwla received adj support from ailario alicante, robert babicz, piemont, slam, paco osuna, horse meat disco, nick warren, gabriel ananda and ame. now the malmo-based producer and dj readies a three track techno / house ep on hmwl s vinyl sublabel heartbreak records. on a-side alongside -water cave- josefine offers a peak hour techno weapon called -sensus-. on b-side we find the smooth melodic -volcanics- at 118 bpm while fellow swede martinez deconstructs sensus into a jazzy, mellow piece of minimal tech.

the dance is the result of a long lasting musical love affair between kontra-musik s ulf eriksson and sebastian mullaert (aka minilogue). as most love affairs, it started off as an exciting experiment: ulf would play records and sebastian would bring out his music gear and play a live set. as they were touring with this live concept, their sounds started to really integrate, and after one especially fine night at trouw, amsterdam, ulf and sebastian decided it was time to conceive the dance. once the decision was taken, everything else came naturally. the dance was to be recorded live, in one take, at kontra-musik s home field inkonst, malmo, sweden.

fasaan records from malmo are back with their seventh release from label regular golden ivy ! live and loosely assembled scando-disco & tropical tundra tunes abound, as breezy melodies paddle out across the funk fjords on sturdy drum machine rhythm tracks... three fresh gi tracks that embody the fasaan sound perfectly - and a little ray of sunshine to keep us going until spring.

linda and thomas, two lovely people and also two tracks that fuse together the stripped-down industrial sound with the playful jacking youve heard from the men from mostar and malmo before. for the remix, the wizard of osch took thomas 33 to his underground science lab and applied advanced future algorithms to twist the sounds into new shapes

on the a-side, the delectable solk clearly proves that the exact midway point between mostar and malmo is in fact chicago. meanwhile, inter gritty takes you back to mid 90s stockholm with a viciously pounding remix. the closing track loksyra is quite simply the perfect marriage between onions, knives and a 303.

whats cooler than being cool? real cool! its the verge of summer and we got some banging tunes for you. the record of the year has arrived. the fourth release on geography is the debut 12inch from our hometown homeboys real cool. the ep is called >eighties children ep< and is a playful house record including a 90s nyc house banger with a dubby moog solo, a groovy bass driven jazzy piano spoken word track, and the beautiful nu-disco influenced b-side with bruce hornsbyesq piano and detroitish synth pads. real cool are patrik andersson and johannes kjellgren from geographys hometown malmo sweden. patrik is one of swedens ruffest hiphop producers and johannes is a long time disco dj and record collector. together they make the best of house! look out for this one and our future releases. geography is our name and house is our game

this is first single cut from upcoming first collaboration album of minilogue & koss they have recorded at minilogue studio in malmo, sweden in the end of last year. then they brought back the recorded parts to own studio and put the each touch to the songs ... original of a side is minilogue manner hypnotic tech house but koss added his warm sounds. the result is a simple and timeless tune. on b side, new york deep houser dj qu remix is little bit more danceable than original. its for the fans of underground quality to lawrence to dj koze. the album is coming this autumn.

shakarchi & straneus are faik and daniel, two bffs from gothenburg who are making some of the most catchy, emotional and well crafted dance music we have heard in a long time. both had been involved in music for a while when they started working together at their hometowns top tapas joint, manana. in between washing dishes and serving patatas bravas, the boys would burst out short tracks and sound experiments in the makeshift studio they had set up inside mananas cloakroom. this led to a debut 12 inch on malmo based geography recordings and now comes their five track ep >dodskallar och korallrev<: studio barnhus second release, the best swedish house record since jesper dahlbacks >what is the time mr. templar?<, something we are immensely proud of being able to release.

his style is a fascinating mix of house, electro and techno including all sub genres. after his debut album alles wird gut on beatmodul records in early 2007, which was supported by djs like steve angello or sebastien leger this track has a lugging electro bassline with a stomping kick in the beginning. squired by a discreet tricky melody which works with several highs and depths the track is getting a brandnew style from the middle on which gives it a big kick. as remixers we could manage the swedish superstar jeff bennett (malmo) and kaiser souzai.
