one year only after the release of his debut ep déclaration préalable à l’embauche, tour-maubourg quickly became one of the “best promising producers” of the french house scene» (trax magazine). after some other releases, including eps signed on folamour’s imprint fhuo and on the english label fina, the young parisian producer is back with a new maxi solitude collective, still full of melancholic and nostalgic jazzy house sounds.

fina records strides into 2018 with another fresh new house ep, this time from paso aka pascal pamme. over the last few years this french artist has released on the likes of d.ko records, increase, and the groove, and always showcases his knack for loose limbed, organic house grooves laden with jazzy keys and soul-infused synths. the four cuts he offers up here once again prove he is a producer with a truly authentic and musical style.

for our next fina records release we welcome french native closed paradise… closed paradise has been on our radar for a while after hearing releases on fools & fables, kolour ltd & whiskey disco. his unique (and mainly vinyl only) productions have featured heavily in our sets over the last few years, if you are familiar with his vibe you’ll know his tracks have a certain french finesse, and these are no exception. so we are extremely happy to finally put this out and add closed paradise praise ep to the fina family.

for our first release of 2017 and number 023 in the fina catalogue, we are super happy to welcome finnish producer saine to the family. saine has been on our hit list for a number of years and we are delighted to finally be releasing his aptly named mint ep saine delivers 3 classy cuts brimming with hip-hop fused, organic house sound that have always grabbed our attention in the past on labels such as sleazy beats, black ops, voyage, odd socks and quartet series. the mint ep continues in the saine vein(see what we did there) with obscure sample wizardry, thumping straight-to-the-bone beats & wavering analogue synth textures which do not disappoint. it is with great pleasure that we kick off 2017 with a bang & present saines mint ep – this ep is a must!

quality house label fina records are back with their next carefully curated ep of 2016. this one comes from the choice house duo of rob glassett and sam fussell aka homepark, who serve up four more of their finely crafted cuts. over the last six years, homepark have slowly but surely built up a classy discography that takes in smooth and seductive deep house that has real drive. it has come on labels like ornate music and chez damiers courtesy of balance recordings, and always marries a classic sense of house history with fresh new perspectives for both head and heel.

for the latest slice of magic on the evermore impressive fina white, the organ grinder, aka cayne ramos, continues with a prolific run of releases which has planted his expansive productions straight in the bags of discerning club commanders like move d, brawther, and laurent garnier. showcasing a broad, tasteful musical pallet, studied studio skills, and a sharp ear in the mix, the daily struggles ep is a fine arrangement of house and techno that will find itself at home on the uncompromising warehouse floors, the sun drenched courtyards, and in the darker, seedier moments of the night, when only the strong remain, and the weak have long since departed

the second release on fina white is a four tracker from rising barcelona producer and former rbma attendee clip! diverse releases on discomaths, classicworks, sweat taste and jd records, coupled with his signature hardware only live shows have really put clip! on the map locally and throughout europe. key to his sound is a shifting style and impressive knowledge of sound design, displayed on this brotherhood ep though four pure and unadulterated peak time cuts. there s a real menace to the bassline, low end throb and razor hats of the title track, whilst r36 showcases the fusion of sounds clip! can attain in his productions. on the flip side, forward is, surprise, a no messing, relentlessly percussive banger whilst dissonance s technique heads down an equally straight-up, rough n ready path.

christian viers is fast becoming a prominent name on uk underground house and techno circuits, either as part of lazlo dancehall alongside leon vynehall or his long running a1 bassline project. techno-focused releases on his own label, source unknown captured the attention of the ears behind the newly formed fina white resulting in the bad timing ep, which the label state is a strikingly clear indication of the distinctive direction they plan to take moving forward. title track bad timing is a straight up techno banger whose menacingly melodic low-end tones, relentless thump and rolling toms are the driving force behind its robust and looming groove. without time is a similarly complex percussive cut, but with its jungle inspired arabic horns, trancey synth-lead breakdowns and acid squelches, whilst uk house veteran nail offers a more direct 4/4 take on the track with his typically classy remix.

growing up in metro-detroit, and having recently played on the made in detroit stage at this years movement festival, you would have a fair idea of what to expect from appian. indeed, the influence of the motor citys signature sound on much of the burgeoning talents output is unmistakable. yet appians forthcoming release *chatter ep* on fina records is a testament to his varied and experimental production style, a distinctive sound borne out of inspirations as varied as funk, experimental electronica, disco, 80s stuff, early house, and aphex twin

fina records marks its fifteenth release with borrowed indentitys *bang bang boogie*, a four-track single of rugged house and disco grooves. romanian born now germany based borrowed identity has been releasing gradually creeping out his electronic compositions since late 2011, releasing through reputable imprints such as supplement facts, pets recordings and quintessentials to name a few. picking up support along the way from leading names such as mike huckaby, move d, brawther and delano smith.

fina records was launched in 2011 by simon morell and ralph lawson from 2020vision, although the label is relatively in its early stages, its taken the step from newcomer to reputed label in no time.

powel aka paul christie is a berlin based dj/producer, and a relatively fresh name on the underground house circuit. christie has previously released material with some exciting new labels, namely, berlin-based label keller, wunderbar recordings and deliciuse, here he joins the fina roster, well and truly putting him on the map, and slotting in alongside move d, cottam and leif.

guy andrews has been a prominent name on the underground circuit as of late, racking up a reputable back catalogue with releases and remixes for the likes of hotflush, hemlock and the vinyl factory. andrews has seen heavy support on the aforementioned singles from the likes of lorca, the black dog and a1 bassline, testament to his classy, understated take on house and techno. here guy joins the fina records roster, following a release from dfrnt, a striking indication of the attentive a&r approach of the label so far this year.

dfrnt aka alex cowles, has put out a string of critically acclaimed releases via his own echodub, and londons, on the edge imprint, since his arrival on the scene in 2008, had his track headspace remixed by scuba which featured on the producers sub:stance mix cd for ostgut ton, and maintained a consistently forward-thinking approach to electronic music throughout this. here he joins 2020 vision offshoot fina records, alongside the likes of move d, leif and roberto rodriguez.

winter is here meaning cold snaps, gritters, snowmen and of course, fina 006. the new record takes a different angle than previous releases, enlisting a few friends and local leeds gents to bring a cool little french-filtered number to the fina repertoire.

summer has all but gone as the darkness draws in, the clocks go back, and fina records releases something a little different for the night owls. cosmic dutch space cadets morning factory step up for fina 005 with a slow motion rhythm and tone ep. having previously appeared for yore records and brother from another mother 2020 vision, the guys have been busy in the windmill whittling a perfect autumn release. sultans of swing ep doesnt quite shadow dire straits but it certainly delivers. hypnotic title track of the same name is features futureproof basslines, layered with an enigmatic drowning echo-led synth while >lady< adds a different finish to the wax. here we find d angelo s 96 vocal hook effortlessly breaking through the shuffling punchy bass.

fina has been soaking up the sunshine over the past few weeks procrastinating over the best time to release its next summer cut. with global warming rubbing everyone up the right way, we feel now is as good a time as any to drop fina 004. originally from south africa, esa mervin granger may now be more glasgow concrete towers than table top mountain but his grooves are pure house pedigree. from his releases under his mervin granger moniker to exclusive remixes for ooft! the cape town cat was a natural choice for a very >summer< shuffling three track jaunt.title track veloore is immediately recognisable from its soft analogue piano chords, amalgamated with a dreamy filtered vocal and a bass line which nods to the acidic side of deep house. on the remix is erefaan pearce, a fellow south african who pins soul to every production he lays his hands on. reworking vocals and bass lines into an infectious frenzy that is almost impossible to resist, erefaan draws that sunshine feeling from every angle. think las salinas and you are nearly there. completing the ep on the flipside is galaxy, a deep vocal number paying homage to all the lazy dogs. cosmic deep house aimed purely at the terrace. fina records 004: we present… esa

leif has been good enough to grace us with a bumper four track e.p. featuring a tingling special guest vocal from welsh songstress donna lea, whose voice resonates through your chest on title track, >so long<. sticking with the land of daffodils & dragons, a chance meeting at freerotation festival spawned an instant remix request. german groovecat move d on hearing >so long< immediately saw an opportunity to put his stamp on the record. the result is a low-slung roller whose heart remains firmly rooted to the floor. joining it on the a is murmuring bass heavy >tell you something<, while on the flip, >bide the time< pays testament to the early shuffling nyc garage sound

to kick-start the fina campaign we literally hunted high and low to find an artist and sound that we felt would represent us and give a statement of intent. what we didnt expect was for this search to take us south of the equator and into to the deep southern hemisphere. this is not the first place that you would expect to hear warm, deep underground house but this is exactly what you get with the melbourne based mic newman. and thinking about it, it doesnt get warmer or deeper than melbourne does it? mic is a young producer who we believe is destined for greatness. at the age of 29, hes already had a string of underground smashes on labels such as murmur, tsuba, dirt crew, freerange, and now for fina records. the intriguingly named live east, die young ep (mic riffing on his time spent living in london) sees what mic doing what he does best and demonstrates why his future is so bright. on die young, the tougher a-side, mic keeps the beats solid, and the groove tight and hypnotic, while the smooth chord stabs get right under your skin. prolonged foot tapping ensues. on the flip side, live east, mic takes it a little deeper with ever so subtle disco touches. the vocal sample asks what your name is and to take off your jacket as if to welcome you to a very messy after hours on this mcde-esque low-slung house groove. on remix duty, the on-form jacques renault and marcos cabral aka runaway, lift the track out of the south hemisphere and take it in a north easterly direction all the way to the caribbean – adding plenty of steel drums and pads on their interpretation of live east

(get bad). the result? one of the most unlikely and essential party records of 2017. queen and house music: not necessarily the most obvious of bedfellows, but music for freaks has never been a label to take the path most travelled. over the course of their de-cades long journey the label founded by luke solomon and justin harris has released uni-quely idiosyncratic dance music, establishing the label as a go-to imprint for those seeking imaginative, unpredictable records that still undeniably work on the dancefloor. their latest release might well be among the most out-there of them all. originally released back in 1984,two sharp pencils (get bad) is a record by queen drum-mer roger taylor, featuring him on vocals as well as drums, bass & guitar. now brought bang up to date via a fully official and endorsed remix courtesy of anna wall & corbi, this overlooked album track looks set to become one of the summers most essential records. born and bred in the uk, anna wall is a dj, producer and label owner who is a key player in london’s underground house music scene. her label the bricks champions up-and-coming producers, while anna herself has djd all over the world, most recently for mixmag at pacha for their ims launch party. corbi is an ibiza-based dj and producer, a&r for the highly respected fina records and co-founder of melon bomb, a party and dj collective that has in the space of just a couple of years become one of the white isles most talked-about exports. having met while working at house giant defected records some years ago, anna felt that corbi would be the perfect studio accomplice to work on the remix of two sharp pencils.

2lp vinyl printed gatefold, includes cd! cd edition and cd included in the 2xlp feature the same tracks in the same order. this is a clear perspective on comelade’s musical universe and can be considered as an ultimate “best of” and a radical introduction tothis chaotic and uncompromising instrumental music. rocanrolorama abrégé (-abbreviated rockandrolorama-, in english) is the short version of the complete works and reworks of pascal comelade published at the end of 2016 as a 6-cd box set in a sold-out limited edition of 1000 numbered and signed copies. pascal comelade made this album as if it was a new and separate album, with tracks that he considers best represent his work, from 1993 to 2016, according to the principle applied with the rocanrolorama box set: songs in their original form, alternative versions, reworks, additions… this short version was conceived especially for a double vinyl lp format: four sides with six tracks each, which you can listen to in the right order, from start to finish, according to a logical, thought-out progression for each side (slow tempo, medium tempo, orchestrations, electricity, etc.)
