anfang 2012 lieferten die schotten mit ihrem dritten album >have some faith in magic< ein lupenreines, intelligentes pop-album ab, das von der musikpresse wie auch fans gleichermaßen gefeiert wurde. das trio hat sich nicht auf den lorbeeren ausgeruht, sondern legt gleich mal ein neues mini-album nach, das auf mogwais rock action label erscheint und sich nahtlos in die konstante stilistische weiterentwicklung der band einreiht und den kaleidoskopischen pop-sounds des vorgängers aber neue, weniger beat-getriebene texturen und dadurch mehr offene strukturen verleiht. musikalisch tauchen sie dabei in relikten der vergangenheit - von stockhausen, über afrikanische tribal-sounds und king crimson bis hin zu 90er house. passend dazu erscheint das album in uk auch als streng limitierte auflage auf vhs-kassette, auf der die acht songs von verschiedenen videokünstlern visualisiert wurden! das vinyl erscheint inklusive mp3-download-code!

life is complex and since the only way out is through, complexity demands to be embraced. as a label dedicated to bringing two unique minds together for each record, inkblots has always aimed at uniting kindred spirits by making their differences audible. with two contributions each by berlin’s irakli and stanislav tolkachev, the fourth instalment of haiku’s imprint makes no exception. instead, it might be its most exceptional offering yet. just like the principle of the rorschach test at the conceptual core of the label, the musical perspectives offered on inkblots 004 are minimalistic at their base but open up a pathway into two complex musical minds.

the two label runners combine forces for the deeply old skool ep. saiyan and luna-c bring the simple joy of the old rave sound to their ep, with two tracks cut in the style of the early breakbeat scene of 1992, and one track that stems from a little later, when things got more 4x4 and slightly tougher. all the tracks on the ep are made with a majority of hardware rather than the standard software of today, and the result is a warm, analogue, and absolutely true to its era ep of rolling breaks, deep basslines and uplifting vibes!

lottus got this deep and old school flavour touch, driving and sweat at the same time, this one is for franck the highlight of his new ep,so no big words on this one. it s a lottus love affair here. air is a cosmic journey into franck s synthetic drum sounds, passing thru his famous space echo 201 made back in the days by roland..the machine got some natural errors and goes with the tape delay feelings.. it s all about movements and space rythms here.christal is using the famous 909 drum machine and 808 toms.. this one goes very deep into our mind with strange vocals wich franck got the secret to play with, it s a sentimental and emotionnal song, cute for some people but very relaxing after all to complete this ep.my name is was originaly out on franck s realtone records imprint. it came out with two different versions.the track received some good feedbacks and plays so far and our dear friend berlin based alexkid came back to us with his own edit and we definitly loved it but we were very busy with the releases.. this edit has been lost in our hard drives and now franck is more than happy to give it a new life.

the album attains a unique harmony while drawing from a myriad of beliefs and practices. syncretism appears not only in the name but in the artwork and the music itself. the independent tonal passages draw on aspects of varied genres while creating a remarkably coherent yet homogeneous work. lvis mejía explores in his second album, topics of the christian religion and the history of man. deftly placed style and tempo contrasts express the various antagonisms found in this discourse. with the use of contemporary music in combination with hints of jazz, mejía designs spherical soundscapes, therefore allowing for musical deformations, hence the title aforma. the result is an experience that evokes abstract musical impressions. a reference to christianity is also embedded in the track order as the first piece patefactio opens the musical event much like a christian mass. the travel proceeds through the lurking clerical chants of aeternus-the final trial, whilst the bells are then calling us to mass with the track in dissonata apocalypse and continuing with the ontological concept of belief in in ghost we trust. everything comes full circle with the history of homo errata as a conglomerate of human errors. this final piece serves also as a link to the second part of the album anthropology of amnesia a musical description of repression and forgetting as a condition of life, which has emerged as a theme of human existence since the beginning of recorded history. with this opening piece artist and musician lvis mejía has created a magical musical experience, leaving us eager for its sequel.
