elysium (a.k.a. burning skies of elysium seit 1985) gründeten sich im herbst 1981 in horley, surrey (uk). ihre erste veröffentlichung war die 4-track-kassetten-ep amongst those clouds von 1983. sie enthielt ihre ersten beiden songs, die im märz 1982 in rendezvous, john ratcliffs studio im süden londons, aufgenommen wurden, zusammen mit zwei weiteren songs, die im januar oder februar 1983 in den ambiance recording studios in burgess hill aufgenommen wurden. später gesellte sich der saxophonist ron howe hinzu. ihre erste vinyl-veröffentlichung kam im september 1984, die summer house b/w through flak & flak 7-, wieder in den ambiance recording studios aufgenommen. ein song aus diesen sessions mit dem titel emporium blieb absolut ungehört und vergessen. bis jetzt.

after recent individual releases on ecstasy garage disco and tone dropout, ritual poison bosses bufobufo and corporeal face join forces for their new escape earth project.
a psychedelic pulse of chugging acid marked disco, ‘escape earth theme’ is an animist call to arms in the obscene face of the anthropocene. 303 master bawrut transforms it into a hymn for early morning rave reflection, adding breakbeats and psychotropic synths.
crushed by its own supermassive weight, ‘gravity well’ then condenses escape earth’s love of jungle and hardcore into a 128bpm stepper of rumbling low-end, polyrhythmic beats and otherworldly melody.

ghori from d-operation drop is a driving soundsystem roller with a low swung beat crushed through 80’s sci-fi algorithms and burnt onto analog tape. on the flip is natty coil, one of the crew’s most requested tracks, a masterful mix of organic bass and robotic shuffled hi hats from these mix scientists. d-operation drop are a crew from italy who gravitated around their love of bass, releasing music on labels such as artikal, lion charge, zam zam and moonshine, gaining support from the likes of j:kenzo, n type, bukez finezt, and dj madd.

after a number of dance-floor’esque releases and live performances as a modern day acidhouse crooner, your planet is next stops the sequencer and takes a trip off the grid on the new label gröna stugans väg. 60 minutes of glittering lo-fi compositions, to accompany you perhaps while in the bathtub, meditating, painting, or swimming. the artwork folds out to a mini poster made by ypin himself. c60 cassette, limited to 140 copies.

over the past few years orchestral instrumental music from outside the classical establishment has become huge, and neil leiter and margaret hermant of the belgian echo collective have witnessed the evolution and extraordinary rise of this movement right up close. they ve worked with some of the most important players, including stars of the lid, dustin o’halloran and adam wiltze’s a winged victory for the sullen and o’halloran’s solo projects, as well as jóhann jóhannsson. and though the echo collective members themselves very much do come from within the classical music establishment, they don t care which side of the fence they are seen to be on.

solar phenomena keeps up a busy schedule with the third ep of 2018. this one comes from cult uk artist duckett whose past collaborations include tom demac, grimes adhesif and leif. recently he has served up solo eps for labels like galdoors, untilmyheartstops and wisdom teeth. mixing up elements of idm, techno and ambient, he is a sculptor of timeless tracks that come from another world.

malohne is a paris-based producer known for his two first tracks on disques flegons first release: buffet froid. malohnes music is now changing into a fine cocktail between deep house at its finest and raw sounds of today. in his new ep boulevard ouest, he drives his synth and crushed house sound in the future

the first full artist ep of 2018 is one by a new artist for heist, but a familiar name for any modern day house aficionado: adryiano. after taking 2016 off, he came back guns blazing in 2017, releasing 5 solo eps in 1 year on labels like shall not fade and baka gaijin. his me and you and her ep for heist showcases his contemporary view on classic house and acid, and is an experiment into how much distortion a track can actually handle when youve got a killer sample hook. me and you and her is about as classic as a house track can be and moves in similar fashion as his post-2013 hit ‘on my side. its got a sweet and repetitive vocal loop, some semi-grainy but definitely groovy percussion and a deceptively simple piano hook. add some filtering and youve got a lovely warm house song that can go on forever. the a2 move it, move it moves straight into old-school chicago territory, with a raw af acid bassline. chicago bred jamie 3:26, now residing in its dutch counterpart rotterdam, gives the track a nice old school twist. hes going full 707 on the percussion and has casually added an amazing synth hook to give the remix a true vibe of its own. the ep closes off with fashion country girl: adryianos dystopian view of a world where dolly parton gets mangled through an overdrive, then gets distorted, crushed, mangled, deleted, re-added in 8 bit and then crushed some more. the result is an uptempo roller with more than enough grit, and just enough tongue-in-cheek to make everyone smile a little bit more. yours sincerely, maarten & lars.

(battibatti, metrolux, uq) launches with a tough, raw hypnotic driver of crushed filter distorted patterns. next molegrip, collab between brian james (battibatti, metrolux) and caspian rabone (polaris, battibatti) keep the groove with classic techno and dub atmospherics. on the flip sees unknown artist cmnt deliver some arpeggiated lazyness before cyan341 (rednetic, uncharted audio) polishes off the ep with a tight beat supported with an elegant ambient foundation.
