this new compilation of old kirchin material comes as a result of the free cd i produced for hull 2017 city of culture. there was a basil kirchin “weekender” this february, three days of talks, music and events based on the life, music and world of basil kirchin.

what is this? this is a floor-friendly house record with three cuts by dj central. if you’re reading this, we feel it’s safe to assume that you buy records. so yes, you can own this and bring it home to keep if you like. all you need to do is pick it up and spend that hard-earned money of yours. why are we doing this? because running a label is about releasing music and we felt like this was worth sharing with you. no pressure though - don’t panic - take your time to decide. so whether you feel this three-tracker has found a new home or not, thanks for considering expanding your collection with a help record.

basil & rogers is a sleazy, california disco duo made up of heru (dj) johnny basil and body rogers. basil, a multi-instrumentalist, long-time record collector, and energy healer is a man that s been making music for a long time under many different guises and in many different styles. heru avenger (acid/psych rock), non stop (electronic/free jazz), baast (kraut rock/jazz funk), and kandi jones (slut rock) are just a few of his projects, past and present. most of this music has been around for the entirety of the 90 s and 2000 s without being heard because despite basil s outspoken appearance (described by many as looking like iggy pop s twin brother and would never be caught wearing a t-shirt no matter the location) he s very quiet about his musical output. body rogers is also part of the non stop group and is a master of electronics and engineering. on the basil & rogers project the two have made a disco 12- that is influenced by classic-era dance music while still being completely unique and far from conforming. it s crazy, it s sexy, and it s sleazy. tune in .

dj basil returns to the dance scene once again. best remembered for his house classic -city streets- (nu groove) as well as -all true african- and -time to be free- (king street sounds), basil adds a brand new gem to his catalog of music.

more essential burrell related goodness from the vaults of nu-groove. this time the brothers collaborate with basil thomas aka the wonderfully named basil hardhaus on “make me dance-, another stomping ny garage house smasher from 1991. it’s all here, vocal mixes, dubs, shout outs to all the radio and club dj’s of the day, the record store and promotions people and most importantly - the regulars and dancers of nyc’s legendary shelter club where the brothers were regular fixtures! on the flipside there’s more garage pressure in the shape of the grooving “for the underground” and 2 separate mixes of the much sampled (but never bettered!) “black man-. all the tracks included here have that deep, late night, classic sound that is instantly recognizable as the burrell brothers, sultry vocals, warm pads & heavy, swinging, raw drum beats! “make me dance” has always been one of the tougher 12&#8243,,,,,,,s to track down from the enviable nu-groove catalog. now it’s here, back again, re-mastered, re-pressed and re-issued in conjunction with the burrell brothers and nu-groove records. complete with original label artwork. one for the real house heads!

sometimes things turn out different than planned. that also applies for remixes one does for other labels: >the lost remixes< features two personal favourite remixes by sascha dive, now seeing a release on vinly for the first time. side a offers a gentle & laid-back remix for neggheads >being< that warms-up every dance-floor just like a sweet summer breeze. sascha dives remix for the basil classic >time to be free (free world)< on side b is a lot more four to the floor and with its almost epic groove yet proven another track that you’ll hear in clubs at any time of the night. listen up!

the back on track vinyl collection takes one of the most seminal and classic new york house labels of the late eighties and early nineties and lets the sort after producer nicholas painstakingly update the sound for 2011. this special edition collection is made of three limited edition heavy weight 180 gram vinyls with printed sleeves. each four track ep is individually coloured to make the complete set of three, light blue, orange and dark blue. on each ep there are four nu groove tracks re-edited by nicholas that include vinyl only exclusives. the collection reinterprets classic nu groove artists including bas noir, roqui and n.y house n authority.

3rd ep off the double disc mixed by grammy award winner louie vega. basils classic city streets is up first with kerri chandler turning out his smooth inspirational mix of this nu groove 1991 original classic release. his mix goes a little deeper than the original full spoken vocal but includes a jazzy saxophone and a heavier bass line making the track move along a little easier. some tribal beats and some thunder are added to really create the atmosphere & veritable feel of the rain. the late great house music singer sabrynaah pope sings her heart out on hold on. this is the actual original re issue from 1994 and still being played. other 2 singles that you will find on the vinyl ep are mood ii swing feat. carol sylvan, closer as well as the global no1 dance hit by blaze feat. barbara tucker most precious love. all these well known tunes make for an incredible set of throw backs coming from a very special album mixed by one of the worldwide legends of dance music

our first go ibiza compilation has been compiled by bobby & steve and michael hughes and mixed by our very own bobby & steve. it features 28 amazing tracks and is modelled around the launch of our groove odyssey presents go ibiza four day weekender, which took place from the 19th-22nd of may 2017 at the beach star hotel, san antonio bay, ibiza. with over 40 artists from around the globe coming together on the magical island of ibiza, it was a memorable affair and many of the guests now feature on the album.
