after a recent short n sweet stint on tensnakes mirau imprint irish ex-pat mano le tough reemerges on internasjonal where he first saw the light of the day as a producer with the much acclaimed warhorn. yet even with such a rather small, straightforward discography mano managed to sculpture his unmistakeably very own style fusing the deeper shades of house and techno with a strong melodic sensibility that one would never even get the faintest idea to file it under the mostly bland tech-house genre. oblique boast a perfect effective dramaturgy with slighty spooky broken melody box theme rising out of a thick mist of grinding chords before morphing into a deep acid finale. french gentlemen of distinction and many styles chateau flight toughen up the beats and throw in some african wood percussions and sparse psychedelic dub effects for a superb rhythmically multi-layered rework.
steve lawler, luciano, carol cox, mandy, loco dice, ricardo villalobos, tiefschwarz matthias tanzmann and many more are all fans of leons work, so its not hard to see why people are already talking about him as a future star. leons remix for tim greens >iotan< (if-18) was already a bomb and now he delivered us to heavy house tracks which are just insane. >stars< and >corner of love< will def be played over the whole summer. on top of that we are pleased to release a yousef remix of >stars< as well.
the droids beamed down to planet earth in the year 1978. yves hayat aka droids, was a young label manager at the seminal french disco label barclay in the seventies. >star peace<, originally released in 1979 is his concept to the classic sci fi movie >star wars< out that year. featuring the french space synth classic >(do you have) the force<, in both parts, this lp goes from strength to strength with spaced out lullabys >inner space< & >tchough fou<, before kicking back into the groove with >be happy< an assault to the senses with its manic synth lines running riot over heavy funk overtones. the flip kicks off with >shanti dance< parts 1 & 2, sleezy robot-funk work outs that are inter-joined to make a 6 minute continually evolving piece of music. the closing eight-and-a-half- minute >renaissance de l amour< is a tour de force of cinematic synthscapes, bleeps, bloops and world rhythms, before dropping in the drums 6 minutes in to ignite any dancefloor. this is light years ahead of its time.
demdike stares debut album >symbiosis< was released in late 2009 and explored sean canty and miles whittakers interest in re-appropriated found sounds of all colours and origins. fast adopted into the >hauntological< canon, the album evoked the noises and spirits of distant yet oddly familiar locations.

another show stopper from french outfitles umins. its all about the remixes on this dope three tracker, as home and garden kick things off with a tough, synth heavy retro 80s mix thats a totally new sound for these boys. on the flip brett johnson shows why hes the man, killing the floor with a truly bugged out take on the original thats just got prime time madness written all over it. sounds like a bit of plastikmans spastik in there! icon on point with an essential underground release.

the third instalment of the apres vinyl series explores the indie disco dimensions of future classics 2 year old sunday afternoon session in sydney. when we commissioned gemma smith to produce four artworks for the series this angular and intense piece sat well with the spiky hot chip meets junior boys disco punk funk of melbourne 3 piece clubfeet. it also worked with adelaides sidwho, another promising newcomer whos recent 12inch on cage & aviarys the walls have ears imprint got rave reviews from horse meat disco, mock & toof, tim sweeney and optimo to name a few. millionaire is an early taster of the pop sensibilities of sids forthcoming solo album with future classic. sids also a member of the modular signed live disco act the swiss. chad and nathan took some time out from the future classic hq to turn in a remix of millionaire together with good friend bryan o callaghan who also happens to be head chef at the tilbury where aprÞs is held. bryan quickly became a firm friend of future classic after mudd and aeroplane were booked for sets at apres with bryan seeking us out, immediately impressing us with his unparalleled knowledge of rare disco and groove. last but definitely not least (since it made the a1) came pink frosts remix of evening star by another local sydney band todd sparrow. after a heavy vinyl digging session at redeye records, the stores vinyl buyer scott, handed nathan a cdr and the call was made then and there and we had our third apres release - an intentionally all australian installment!

latest project by longtime dfa alumni gavin russom, inspired by euro disco, wonky early electronic body music and global psychedelic rock. death tunnel is a hot club cut just waiting to be unleashed, while the flip world eater is a more mid tempo groover with a strong ebm lean.
dfa complete the set of black meteoric star tracks onto vinyl with >dreamcatcher/dawn< on the third and final 12 from the album. gavin russom has created a unique tribute to the early days of synth and drum machine experimentation with this project, inhabiting the spirits of everyone from giorgio moroder to ron hardy with hypnotically brilliant effects. >dreamcatcher< is another undiluted jam at 120bpm, sounding like a lo-fi moroder tripout with gorgeous arpeggiations swirling in a pool of shallow resonant tape hiss. >dawn< on the flip is the slowest track on the album, a sub 100bpm psyched electro-soul groove with cracking handclaps and an uncompromisingly lo-fi attitude. dead cool.
the original instrumental mix of stardust was one of hed kandis favourites at el divino last summer, and with the new season already taken off with the ims and the opening fiestas last week, ibiza is the perfect place to drop the new vocal mix, which really sounds like the long awaited vocal version of pjanoo that has never seen the lights of the day. this adds a monster loleatta holloway sampling vocal to the large twisted disco groove of the original. a massive bomb that is set to be a big hit for the usuals! skylarks andy chatterley takes to the controls with a powerful interpretation, complete with sharp driving drums and an underlying techno rhythm. a more stripped down dub mix is enclosed also for those who like things a little bit darker and deeper. last but no by means least, tim hudson, fresh from his latest here comes the sun release on hysterical, turns in a hypnotic house groove to make you smile.
after the succes of the first release mimikri musik sends us another high quality tracks of cours de performance. this killer ep includes awesome rollin minimal tracks and a kickin matt star rmx!
