cannataci records - a new record label run by ripperton & agnès cannataci records is a joint venture hosted by ripperton and agnès. the label is aimed at releasing rather unclassified music, pieces our friends compose or simply ourselves. the aim is at releasing music we believe make things go beyond the usual paths. the label name is a reference to our hopes in the newly appointed un special rapporteur on privacy, namely, joseph cannataci. frankly, we do not want to taint our music with politics, although we are simply firm endorsers of our own privacy and think everybody else should.

t c f is the moniker of norwegian contemporary artist and experimental computer musician lars holdhus. his work explores themes of code, cryptography and privacy through the use of visual, sonic, built and written concepts. often the titles and descriptions of his work are written in cyphertext, the key to which is hidden within the piece itself. his forthcoming release on liberation technologies will further this cryptographic theme, consisting of digital and physical content containing the necessary keys to unlock the full meaning of the work.

if you have heard daniel martin-mccormicks name recently, it would probably have been either in association with his disco/punk/echo band mi ami, or as sex worker on the not not fun label, or finally as ital on nnfs sister label 100% silk, recording quite different sounding house music to this album. raised in washington dc, daniel has a history in the citys hardcore scene, he was in the dischord records signed black eyes, but was also making dance inspired tracks at the same period, but coming from a very different angle from your average guy with a copy of logic and a working knowledge of dance musics history.

for his second album as son lux, new yorks ryan lott did a very un-son lux thing. he recorded we are rising in a month -- the shortest month of the year, actually -- while npr tracked his every move. this, as opposed to the making of his lauded 2008 debut, at war with walls and mazes, which he slowly built in complete privacy over nearly three years. of course, he didn’t plan it this way. he simply awoke one late january morning to find a message from all songs considered titled, >you busy?<. the annual rpm challenge, an international open call to create an album in 28 days, had been issued and lott had been tapped. how could he say no?

almost three years after their release >lake<, odessa appear appealing their scene again. actually, their privacy breaktime should not have been a musical discontinuance, too. but as it sometimes goes things happen abruptly. although the ep >memory leak< already was pre-produced in 2009 it got just recently a detailed finishing. leave off the idea these tracks could have had their half-life already, not at all. odessa stay here and now, presenting reduced, cool-organic house with wide atmospheres. even though odessa music keeps ascetical aesthetics since the beginning a certain pathos can deeply be felt. once again, but just for one track (>l aurore<), frederique frankes exceptional voice comes to effect.
