fear of flying delve once more into the world of long players with leif, someone who has been a feature of the label since the labels inception, having contributed seven releases on their combined journey together. dinas oleu is the culmination of that journey. a sonically refined trip through hazy deep house and tripped out ambient skits.

punch drunk proudly closes 2013 with a fearsome new 12 inch single from hodge. this release marks his first solo release on the label following up his collaboration with peverelist entitled *bells*, which appeared earlier this year. previous releases for deadplate and well rounded housing projects have been well received, but we believe that this new record is certainly his best to date.

montreal dream pop duo footprintz have already captivated the world with their magical debut album on visionquest escape yourself and next single fear of numbers is about to keep the fire burning. as much a vehicle for a true remix master as alight shone on this album highlight, leo zero filters fear of numbers through his own balearic vision and fuzzy warm lens across one remix and two alternative dubs. unveiling laid back percussive rolls and expansive grooves, the zero remix is a slow, chugging masterpiece while the alternative dub imbues a digital folky pop feel with playful keys and a searing melodic synth-line.

roundtree could be the alias of a very well known (perhaps legendary) producer who might want to remain anonymous. we are not saying, or perhaps we just did, im not sure. anyhow, two rather crisp housers on offer here, *g-string diva* with its sharp as nails percussion and female spoken vocal which lends the track a nicely sleazy edge and *no need for the v* with its prominent baseline driven grove. enjoy!

ltd 2013 repress, vinyl only release. dutch newbie ivano tetelepta steps up to the plate for his 2nd release on fear of flying, >i think about you< is a sleek slow burning groove with hypnotic undertones, the repeated female vocal and sharp hi hats giving the track its dance floor impetus. >taksi< takes an altogether different path - pumping up the beats for a slice of pure peak time phunk whilst >open moment< injects a light melodic feel over dubbed out beats - one for early mornings and a fine way to end a really well balanced release.

roger gerressen switches to the main fof label for his next release, liberal taking up the entirety of the a side with a killa groove resplendent with knife edged percussion and tripped out synth stabs. flipsides mint goes subaquatic with a serious slice of heads down bizinizz - a male spoken vocal refrain repeats throughout to give a hypnotic edge. lastly, roger teams up with his buddy smokin g on drunk game, super rounded, housed up beats and an undulating synth / string line permeate the groove lending the ep a sense of levity.

the first of two remix discs of ivanos excellent lp. up first are bristol residents outboxx who bring a slick electro vibe to 113. chilled and melodic with a classic sounding b-line, this is one of the best remixes to feature on the label to date. flip for two remixes by roger gerressen, a member of the eshu collective along with mr tetelepta. his 117 remix is a slick house affair again with the b-line very much in the fore. his take on 119 is a much deeper affair, dubbed in its outlook with the melancholic piano stabs of the original a main feature.

11 track double vinyl album from new mark broom and james ruskin supergroup ! limited initial run on marbled grey vinyl - similar look to the recent sfbsf003 surface 12inch full picture sleeve. the project, knows as the fear ratio, has seen two of the uks finest proponents of no-nonsense, immaculately sculpted techno locked in the studio together. these sessions have already borne three 12 inch titles - no time soon, erotic misery and night nurse – two of which were released on ruskins blueprint records, with the other pressed up on brooms beard man imprint. the fear ratio moniker was adopted following the release of these club-focused 12s, with the album project honing in on more abstract and experimental textures. ruskin revealed details about the project in an interview earlier this year. he said a live fear ratio project was also in the works, with a press release claiming these would commence in 2012. as the fear ratio, broom and ruskin delve into the hinterland of contemporary music. a space where cold atmospheres meet lush melody and tough, yet clipped pulsating beats. from the warm poly-rhythmic funk of >ax< to the deep spatial reverb of >guv 1<, the dub induced strains of >pinhead< and melancholic refrain of >morning blues<, ruskin and broom deliver their new artistic agenda

matthew styles remixes one of fofs biggest releases of 2010. never straying far from the source material, matthew wraps things up in his usual tight production style, employing a live bass sound and elements of the original melody to give things a tripppier edge than the originals straight up dance floor leanings.
on the flip and walking that fine line between house and techno, blm turns in a very fine and contemporary remix of drake and griifiths >the devils eyes<. dystopian in its outlook, the remix drives along with a simple but full bassline with plenty of dancefloor power.

fof kick off 2011 with a nod to the past in the form of justin drake (peace division) and kevin griffiths- (tsuba) -the devil-s eyes-, a deliciously grimy jackin- groove, coming on like a low slung mid 90s house production a la schatrax. we enlisted the talents of christopher rau for the first remix. as many of you know christopher has had an impressive 2010 culminating in his critically acclaimed lp -asper clouds- for the always excellent smallville label. chris cleverly uses elements of the original, intertwined them into an altogether quirkier, more optimistic deep house groove with a definite injection of -fun-: to round off the package, new talent bleak takes the reigns, providing a peak time techno stomper. bleak-s debut single will be released on hamburg imprint -sudden drop- sometime in early 2011 and promises to mark bleak out as a name to look out for.

low volume, the alias of a well known producer who wishes to remain anonymous for the time being, produces 3 tracks aimed squarely at those afterhours sessions. the ep kicks off with the appropriately titled afterhour , a slowly evolving hypnotic groove with tripped out noises a plenty to give a serious feeling of heady depth.

big with locodice, raresh, brendon moeller, jozif goodwin, matthew styles.... uber talented duo skudge provide the remix on this, fofs 20th release. you may know skudge from their recent bombs >covolution< and >melodrama< on their own self titled label. this offering is a little different, being more of a stripped down, slightly minimally trippy peak time ride but no less powerful for it,

the next entry for the fof? label sees meadow taking the healm. meadows remix of previous release, >kheema<, takes the dubby-ness of the original to new heights and ratchets up the intensity with an undulating warming pad that laps over the senses whilst elements of the original tease in the back ground. >the cheese< takes the ep in an alternative direction, stepping over into dub step territory with oh so deep bass stabs underpinning the skankin percussion with traditional dub elements sparkling in the foreground. rounding of the ep is >6 steps<, a musically crafted slice of deep house for the afterparty complete with hazy melodies.

a lot has happened to blm since his last solo ep back in 2008, fatherhood being the main factor for his absence. thankfully the nappy changing musical magician didnt stop tinkering with his synths in that time has come back with a string of forthcoming productions that mark a real step up in quality for him. so, first up blm releases on home soil on his own fof label. garage is back keeps things silky smooth – simplicity is the key here, the percussive elements building slowly before the evocative vocal of suz brings a hypnotic sexyness to the whole affair. step to this is the logical progression from his last fof release (believe in love) with its skippy beats and uplifting stabs being a sure winner for the coming summer. mulletover promoter / dj / all around sexual dynamo geddes provides a rather splendid dub remix of garage is back on the flip. cleverly using key elements of the original to keep the flava but dipping the tempo to give it more of a groove based feel. we think its a high watermark for the man.. check it
