2019 repress - following the club and labels 20th anniversary back in 2011, tresor memorialised its two decades of existence with an exclusive mix from one of its esteemed detroit connections, mike huckaby. on that mix, mike huckaby included an exclusive production of his, the first one to be released on tresor records. today, we are proud to announce the pressing of >the tresor track< on wax, making up for a massive a-side cut at 45 rpm. this title is on its way to stand along with the labels most important classics, a genuine anthem for the berlin techno institute. on the flip, mike huckaby goes for a stroll through the tresor building, heading downstairs, exploring the rooms darkest and most twisted corners with >basement trax<, going back towards >the upstairs lounge< and surprising his audience with some original rhythmic patterns. the tresor ep is a statement, a seal manifesting for a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration between mike huckaby and tresor.
2019 repress - classic drexciyan dance floor moment like *digital tsunami* is considered as the signature track of the *harnessed the storm* album. it is accompanied here by three titles that are not present on the 2lp vinyl version of the album. originally released in 2002, *harnessed the storm* was conceived as the opening chapter of the legendary seven storms - a series of seven albums created within a single year and released via several labels under different names. *harnessed the storm* was the sole one in the series credited under the main drexciya project. this 12 inch also includes *aquatic cataclysm* which ranks with the most abstract, alien and stark in their catalogue. another masterful lesson in futurist dance music from one of its strongest forces.

for its 303rd release, tresor records is glad to present a commissioned work by donato dozzy. rome based production maestro and dj extraordinaire donato dozzy is unanimously considered as an illustrious leading light in all techno artforms. along his long career and extensive discography, dozzy has proven to use his instruments most interesting ways, always re-inventing his music, always presenting new approaches to both the deeper and the more rhythmic forms of electronic music. it was self-evident to tresor records to enroll donato dozzy’s talents for this assignment, a nod to the seminal roland tb-303 bass synthesizer. the result is a relentless collection of radical, propulsive and bleeding-heart acid tracks. donato dozzy wishes to dedicate this work to his lifelong friend filo.
from his debut on tresor in 2012 with the super strength ep, all the way through to his vibrations long player in 2016, paris based artist marcelus has continuously provided some of the most intricate productions to come out on tresor records in recent years. marcelus instills unpredictable rhythms as the very eseence of his music. these di erent layered time signatures move together in spiraling forms designed in the french enchanter’s mind. the magnet ep o ers one long trip in four chapters. the title track, “magnet”, ushers in the ritual and strikes with its creole flavors, drawing careful listeners back to sound palettes and rhythms of some decisive ur references. from there on, the mind-bending begins. “parenthesis” is the second slow step in this brooding ceremony. “say it again” picks up the pace, driving the listener further down into the tunnel. the beads of “descent” finally brings the mind back to the surface of reality.
tresor is glad to announce the release of manni dee’s first album the residue , on june 15th. based in london, manni dee is held in high esteem by many for his spotless production and relentless dj sets. the gleaming rendition of manni s creative vision stuns. he knows sounds inside-out, making his studio a favorite stop for many to receive manni’s expertise. the production of the residue’ was inspired by the city of london and its general living conditions. more particularly, how social cleansing, inequality and the political situation generally - and on a holistic scale - informs internal and external locus of control. the residue’ is disconsolate, and with such heart-wrenching tracks as “in communal solitude”, “vicarious living” or “submit. breathe.” or the mutinous “at mercy of the muse” and “paroxysm” manni dee clearly cuts out his insurgent statement. in parallel to his regular dj schedule, manni dee will also take his sonic proclamation in its live pa form out to the most advanced stages starting this summer.

bnjmn presents body reflections pt.2 - the second step in his new, subdued and intricate sonic direction. the highly textured ambient dance music that characterized the first chapter released earlier this year seamlessly continues onto this new reference. each track on the ep introduces symmetry and rhythm in the form of organic percussion. whether lethargic and ethereal, blanketed with discordant melodies and arcing synth lines, or, more dance-oriented - with sophisticated interplays of percussive elements looping over soft harmonies. body reflections pt.2 is deeply illustrative of bnjmn’s ainity for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.
juan atkins and moritz von oswald - the two vital proponents of detroit-berlin axis, return to the mothership following their 2016 full length effort transport. angles is the result of a new conversation between the founding father of electronic music and his german counterpart. the serene source of captivating musical ideas that is borderland, keeps on flowing and vibrating with subtle energy. two versions form here a new set of studio-refined sequences. both parts of ôconcaveö are the ungraspable manifestation of the wild quietness in which the duo finds itself. predicting at once, possible outcomes for the craft of electronic sound, while respecting their profound origins.

to feel the future is to feel the fall into time. for the fourth instalment in tresor s kern mix series, dj stingray (urban tribe/drexciya) presents a device for decoding time in all directions, a sonic prism that refracts our senses into auxiliary components of a total future-rush. with a far-reaching selection that has been worked into his own unique form, dj stingray wraps our vertigo around a gritty pneumatic bump with high-velocity swing. his mixing style, prepared for hostile engagements as it is, throttles techno into counter-gravity forces. wading through a specialised cross-section of detroit s own dance-floor contagions as well as the contaminated feedback signals from across the global aqua plains, the mix can be summed up in just one word: hectic. raw, caustic, synthetic rhythm-code pumps frenzy itself through a cascading geothermal fog. never giving away the cryptographic keys, dj stingray works you harder than your heart, adapting your biology to a fractal timeline of viscous systems. discovery, or uncovering, has to do with what already exists actually or virtually, it is therefore certain to happen sooner or later with enough sweat in the club. and as kern volume 4 attests to, dj stingray has the access codes and the stealth sense to make a place of a space, and to let it fall into time. accompanying the mix is a double vinyl. the leading manoeuvre comes from the collaborative efforts of dj stingray and heinrich mueller under an exclusive nrsb-11 piece. seven more key titles of the covert assault make up this vinyl edition
the latest ep on tresor records comes from reduction luminary terrence dixon. detroit’s most puzzling genius debuted on the label in 2000 with his first ever full length work – from the far future. it took over a decade for its sequel to follow – from the far future pt.2 released in 2012 to great public acclaim. this year, terrence dixon prepared a matchless four track ep, going ever further in his very own tenor of collided electronics and mesmerizing tones. words can simply not describe.
this new edition on the everlasting tresor records catalogue marks the return of pacou, more than five years after the release of his last full ep, sense. three recently produced tracks in the true sound that defines the work of the german techno expert, meet a remix of ‘a texture’. initially released on his 1998 symbolic language album, ‘a texture’ is a distinctive interlude, so supreme that it remains a tresor favorite.
when tresor founder dimitri hegemann stumbled into a former bank vault in east berlin on march 13th 1991, he had little idea that the space he had unlocked would fast become one of berlin s most influential and enduring techno clubs. “we didn’t know what would happen 10 months later,” he says. “we signed a lease for a year. which eventually got renewed for another three months, and another three months…”
as tresor celebrates its 25th anniversary with this work of artists from the us, germany, china, france, austria, italy and the uk, it is worth dwelling on how the cultural conditions that birthed detroit techno – economic neglect and broken industry – were mirrored by the disused bunkers and impromptu parties of post-unification east berlin, where techno found new, vigorous expression.

tresor’s newest release features bnjmn on body reflections pt. 1. the four track ep captures a uniquely subdued mood that resides at the nexus of ambient dance music, and that integrates seamlessly with tresor’s penchant for restrained and dub-inflected techno. each track on the ep introduces symmetry and rhythm in the form of organic percussion. “overskies- and “enceladus- are more lethargic and ethereal, each blanketed with discordant melodies and arcing synth lines. -hadal zone- is more dance-oriented - here, a sophisticated interplay of percussive elements loop over plaintive vocals and soft harmonies. “syzygy- then brings the ep to a techno-focused close with driving kicks, oscillating synths, and repeating minor chords. body reflections pt. 1 is deeply illustrative of bnjmn’s affinity for creating nuanced and delicately balanced layers, and a culmination of his vast experience.

essential repress of terrence dixon’s debut album and first release on tresor.
initially released in 2000, this new edition comes with a bonus 7” vinyl featuring two previously uncut tracks: “ what up” and “shuffle all circuits”.
from the far future embodies a specific and vital time of detroit‘s techno production, going hand in hand with juan atkins’ work as infiniti, terrence dixon signed this album with a masterful hand.
unshakable integrity, adamant dedication and multi-faceted creativity are all characteristics that define the personality of french electronic artist marcelus. following an already fluent relationship with music and a string of single releases on tresor records, marcelus - given name cedric bros - thought it would be the opportune moment to dive into his most intimate inspirations and produce vibrations, his debut album.

new years deal - tresor records proudly presents the second chapter in mønic’s musical journey on the label. head of osiris music, mønic is an accomplished producer whose style can be defined as raw yet exceptionally refined, allowing for a certain industrial inspiration to ooze from his exquisite sound design. ‘four sides of truth’ opens a conversation between pristenely defined low frequencies and an infinity of fleeting, chirping synth layers. this discussion will continue throughout the record, taking additional drums into the exchange and swirling into ‘point to the sun’ in full panning effect. on the other side, lower frequencies undoubtedly take over and win the argument in ‘self doubt is worthless’. uk-based kamikaze space programme contributes with a revisited version of ‘morse’, initially released on the parsons hill ep. preserving the abrasive textures of the original, ksp dramatically raises the track’s thrilling factor.
juan atkins and moritz von oswald – the two indispensable protagonists of the electric garden – plug back into the wilderness. transport – the new full length effort of the borderland collaborative project – brings together a new set of studio-refined sequences aimed at colonizing some of the dark energy that pulsates through those areas that are thoroughly electrified, even if not ‘on the grid’.
the detroit-berlin axis triangulates to a third point which, like the atomic particle that lives in two places at once, flickers between a form of techno-charged ambience and a futuristic club-jazz which cannot be broken down into constitutive parts. borderland remains caught in a state of enraptured stillness, invisibly moving between every imagined future for electronic sound making. the result: a font from which springs serene and exhilarating musical ideas that vibrate with refined energy for sixty seconds in every minute.
