for the new album, liars and prayers, thalia has expanded upon her touring band of the last few years of daniel coughlin (drums) and david curry (viola, trumpet) to fill out the sound with the bass and piano of winston braman (consonant, sherperdess, fuzzy) and mel lederman (victory at sea). liars and prayers is the masterwork of her thus far impressive career. her voice and songs have never been stronger and the full band and the recording by andrew schneider (unsane, cave in) allows her to combine the delicacy of the arrangements of her trio with the force that was her band come. the very moving body memory is a poignant example of this perfect synthesis.

monotonix are a punk trio from tel aviv. they formed in november 2005, set up on the floor of the club with the audience, and the party began. but the party usually got too wild, the power got cut, the cops were called and monotonix were banned from playing again almost everywhere. before long, they were looking for good places to play outside of israel - and they were delighted to find that there are more rock and roll party places outside of israel than inside! today, monotonix are the hardest working rock band in the world. sure, lots of other bands work up a sweat, but monontonix are definitely the only band who puts in the kind of miles they do, and they rock rings around pretty much the rest of us too. these guys do two different shows in two different towns on the same day whenever they can manage it. but thats only the tip of the hard working iceberg. body language sounds almost like a monotonix show. the only thing you cant hear is the sound of your heart beating in your ears after having been chased around the room by a vocalist with his pants literally on fire, then getting dousedwith beer and dancing your ass off to the guitar riffage, then ending it all by carrying the drummer around on your shoulders while a few other guys hold his kit up so he can keep drumming. you dont end up quite as out of breath when listening body language, but you do get a ton of excitement anyway, courtesy of a killer guitar sound, precision power drumming and lusty lead vocals. they recorded body language with tim green (of the fucking champs) at louder studios in san francisco. it twists and grooves with all the fun and fervor of great rock and roll.

loved by alex from tokyo, alex attias, ame, dixon, marcus worgull, peter kruder, roland appel, tony lionni and many more.. fabrice lig, the prince of everything electronic, is back after his very acclaimed x-slaves. he delivers the goods once again, starting off here with chapter one in a purple raw trilogy. first up is the track, based around a jerky syncopated rhythm and a very dry kick, which remains light all the way. as usual, lig’s arrangements evolve progressively before they wipe us away with their screeching pads and synthetic melodies. a great mixture of minimal techno and detroit nostalgia. no doubt, the more efficient track produced by fabrice lig and hammered by dixon, ame, alex attias, quarion… much more aggressive, bump bump is built around fat analogue sounds, or acid noises if you prefer which seem to emulate screaming animals. one is easily carried away by an animalistic groove that keeps on building from the beginning till the end. it all ends with the very funky the riff pourpre, a perfect crossover between metro area and parliament. the retro sounds sit nicely on a big fat beat, the kind which lig excels in.

virgil enzinger, breaking through with his amazing record for chris liebing s clr back in 2006, starts up the zerocol-series with a one-sided hammer named black, and there is truly no other word which could describe it better. a slowly developping arrangement on 126 bpm creates a dark atmosphere while the grooves combine straight drumming with 6/8 shaking elements. for those of you who prefer it dark, but high end, this is the record.

big with fabrice lig, funk d’void, dj hell, jimpster, steve bug, 2000 and one, michael mayer, karotte, sebo k, kiki, gregor tresher, satoshi tomie. in 2001, art bleek started to release his first tracks on compilations. he played the saxophone alongside deejays and started spinning an eclectic blend of jazz, nu-jazz, broken beats, bossa-nova, world and electro jazz records in hip parisian bars and restaurants himself. at the end of 2004, art bleek signed a record contract with lounging records. he released his first album there, followed by a single, two eps and a remix album.

when i first started making the drum on my mpc it sounded like a battle of drums i then added some stabs from the machines, trying to make it sound like the oldschool chicago tracks. this track is all about editing, drum programming and of course the inimitable tap repeat touch that only the mpc can generate. the end result is ninted house, a pure floor killer for all you real house heads. the clash is not a reference to the band but i felt the track goes well with ninted house it has the same mpc groove. stabs and hip hop sampled voices that remind us of those kind of tracks, where editing and sound mixing are more important than the musical elements. its that breadth in house music that i love. enjoy those two floor killers and dance ur ass off! franck roger

played by laurent garnier, danny howells, tom wax, hernan cattaneo, pig & dan, darko esser, mauro picotto, mike monday… four years ago jacob trier (husley) and august jackobsen (gunz) hooked up in london through their love of music. jackobsen was coming to the end of his ba in jazz music at trinity college, whilst jacob was playing dnb at various parties in and around the city. teaming up and bringing together their talents, they initially formed the group >nocturnals<. exploring various musical boundaries from deep electronica and ambient to break beat with jazzy undertones, and live performances with brass sections and vocalists, nocturnals found support from gilles peterson who signed them up to perform as part of his glenfiddich tour. as nocturnals developed so did husley and gunzs interest for techno and house, and their live dj sets using laptop, sampler, keyboards and turntables really took off.

scottie b returns mixing 80s party rap classics, bhangra beats, a well-known dubstep track, an even better-known pop idol, and that shouty guy from atlanta who seems to end up on a lot of bmore tracks. forget all the fakers & half-steppers!

supported by 2000 and one, anja schneider, jesse rose, loco dice, shlomi aber, trickski, tobi neumann, to name a few.. once again theres a real nod to the old school here in a track inspired by arthur russell. rich, warm analogue pads and subtle fx flashes from the space echo build an enchanting groove. the intensity gradually develops with sounds slowly evolving, lending a deep hypnotic feeling to proceedings, until the chord progression opens out and you cant help but smile. a genuine end of night anthem and when dixon does his own edit you know your onto something special... version: double for your money, with an extra version of the original that doesnt open out into the full stabs and maintains a deeper groove. martin landsky remix: with a tight, tribal tom pattern and straight ahead groove martin landsky achieves a darker more spaced out feeling with his remix. he pushes the pads to a dubbed out climax without fully opening out the progression and this fully hits the spot. martin landsky has been making waves as a dj and producer since the mid-nineties and is one of the key producers at steve bugs excellent poker flat recordings and running his own intim records.. hes compiled many mix cds for labels such as poker flat, systematic and the partysan compilation series. his debut album was >in between< for pokerflat and since then hes remixed the great & good as well as producing several stunning releases and jetting about with his box of records

incl. kollektiv turmstrasse mix, after a while of absence johnjon returns with his 2nd solo release. johnjon started his musical career in electronic music working together with experienced producers in the studio, but in the end it was never satisfying for him. so he decided to lock himself up in the studio and dont come out till everything is right. he just got out of there and delivers the this stunning track. meanwhile is hypnotic and moving, groovy and a little trancy but definitely emotional. the breathing pad cuts through and the small but define changes make everything fit together. a perfect combination of a catchy theme and a solid groove. the remix is delivered by kollektiv turmstrasse, already known from successful releases on labels such as connaisseur rec, diynamic, ostwind and musik gewinnt freunde. christian and nico (kt) took the pad and squeezed out a groovy houseline, fit it into their beats and added a little bit of funk outcome is a wicked release. it is released on the label >baalsaal<, the new sophisticated label, the public transport of emotions

the beginning of year three in the adjunct chronicles is marked by a 12inch by our own apendics.shuffle. kenneth james gibson has been bombarding the techno scene consistently for the past few years. u_derline, orac, friends of tomorrow, mos ferry, sunset diskos among other labels have served as the carrier for kens deadly weapons. remix duties are taken on by the one and only mathias schaffhäuser , a renowned techno superstar and the founder of ware records. there couldnt have been a better title than >no reduction< to literary describe this monster of a track - ken has unleashed the entire arsenal of his studio for the creation. stern synth patterns pizzicato their way through the track, deep sea signals ring in the background, distorted vocal snippets insist on taking >all the money<. energetic and magnetic dancefloor number dedicated to the real freaks. mathias approaches the rework with smooth drumming and a velvet bassline. the cheeky cabaret vibe however never settles: the diabolical pizzicato of the original returns and the voices continue their demands for (what all adds up to in the end) >no reduction<. oblivious filth brings yet another layer to this joint. beautifully crafted sounds mingle with electro-mechanical noises, layers of melting textures lure the listener into a late night wonderland

gavin herlihy has long been one of dance musics most respected journalists and djs, and with two acclaimed releases on mood music last year and more recently a brace of top-drawer remixes for unkle and alexkid, hes fast becoming one of its hottest producers. freshly relocated to berlin, his debut 12inch for kindisch, >opium haze<, confirms his status as a skilled and innovative player on the house and techno scene. >opium haze< is as heady and intoxicating as its title implies, an effortlessly psychedelic piece of music thats nonetheless firmly rooted on the dancefloor. it begins with a clicky, funked-up conga tattoo cloaked in disorienting effects which partly obscure the jazzy melody rising up from the mixs depths. out of that sticky, dubby fug emerges an insistent, upward-tripping piano line and synthesized string stabs - together forming the kind of rave-ready hook that will cause immediate damage in the club. herlihy is superbly heavy on the edit, using an eastern woodwind sample, disembodied voices and various percussive elements to deliver build after build, drop after explosive drop. >opium haze< is a hugely satisfying piece of music, and a club anthem-in-waiting. >professional exit< is a more stripped-down but no less accomplished affair, driven by a warm, rippling bassline and phased electronics. before the percussion intesifies and interlocks, offsetting a sparse one-note synth line which hangs in the air, thickening it with understated drama. at once seductive and unsettling, experimental and club-oriented, >professional exit< is indeed a professional end to a highly professional 12inch
