ekoplekz returns with his fourth album for planet mu, in the shape of 10-tracker “bioprodukt”. the unique lo-fi, woozy sound of bristol’s nick edwards stays intact while he veers towards the nineties for inspiration: the bleep and bass sound of the north of england is one touchpoint and the acid gurgles of the 303 are another.

in the short time since his debut, chairman kato has developed his own sound, as unique and offbeat as his personal reputation. launching his live show in 2011, as well as his own art exhibitions, chairman kato has staked his territory as one of the most keenly watched producers in london, now stepping on to the international stage at the top of the underground. its with great excitement then that we share this release on awkward movements. science & romance consists of four original tracks, influenced from all aspects of chairman katos life, as immediately heavy as they are emotionally layered.

ensemble skalectrik is a side-project of nick ekoplekz edwards. previous emissions include the self-released psycho-geographical abstraction of snuff mill tapes and a homage to maurizio bianchi via feral tapes. focusing entirely on spontaneous composition and one-take improvisation, ensemble skalectrik represents the most raw, extreme performance-based electronic music in edwards repertoire.
