in the era of the brand, kutiman is an anomaly. a musician who’s a video artist who’s a producer who’s an animator who’s also the unwilling star of one of israel’s most successful recent documentaries, his every record contrasts with whatever it was that came before. but that’s fundamental to his appeal: no one, not even him, really knows what to expect next. unsurprisingly, therefore, ‘don’t hold onto the clouds’ is no different, which means it’s like nothing he’s ever done. most artists would acknowledge this by working under pseudonyms, but kutiman is – yes, you’ve guessed it – different again. “if i changed my name every time i wanted to do something new,” he laughs, “i think i’d have too many names!”

electric pressure is an athen s(greece) based label founded in 2015. the debut vinyl release features 3 hardware centered, acidic techno oriented tracks from worker/ parasite and a remix from clouds. worker/ parasite is an oakland, ca based artist, much known for his stomping acidic hardware productions. clouds tip in with a heavily sampled remix, balancing perfectly between techno and noise.

after years of releasing quality house eps, brighton based black key records scores something of a coop: its first full length is a sixth album from tom ellis, a core member and resident of the esteemed freerotation festival who is already well known to those in the know. his beautifully titled, eight track lp from the cabin above the clouds is due on april 4th and comes ahead of him launching his own new label.

brandon johnson, the artist known as tridact, has been putting together his mix of analog electronics and beats for some time. growing up in and around santa barbara, california, he has recently traded the beaches and foothills of southern california to move to the forests and mountains of southern oregon. after participating in various bands and other musical projects in santa barbara, he bought a simple setup consisting of a midi sequencer, a sampler and a couple of vintage synthesizers and began creating his own electronic music. over time he built up a small studio and added some live instrumentation into the mix. in the late 2000s, he began posting some of his tracks online, eventually leading to his first release, >light minute<, on the synchronicity suite compilation on moodgadget records, alongside artists such as wisp and mux mool. the track was later re-released on ghostly internationals nocturnal suite compilation. on tridact’s debut album on prins thomas internasjonal label, he creates an eclectic blend of densely layered, melodic, song-oriented instrumental tracks which combine analog synthesizers, guitars and programmed beats. the album draws from influences ranging from 60s pop to disco, house, techno and breakbeat to make a sound that reflects a distinctly pacific coast experience. from the new tridact album (intcd0002) we have cherry picked these tracks for a exclusive vinyl edition spread over 1 12 inch and a 7 inch.

russian born and very gifted musician aleceo is a new addition to the ongoing rooster of copenhagens prolific music for dreams label - aleceo came to attention of label boss kenneth bager with the brilliant first ep clouds. aleceo has his own musical voice, he produces and composes music that is rich in harmonies and melodies he sits somewhere between balearic and deep house combining the past and moving forward and this double vinyl teletrip is an excellent taster of his many talents and a real body of work.

aos’ boundless love for music is apparent in everything she does. as a producer, a dj, and an event organizer with seattle’s secondnature and tuf collectives, kayla waldorf’s vision eschews traditional categories and genre boxes in favor of an ecstatic spontaneity. her dj sets are well known for their playful energy and narrative threading between many different styles. violent light is aos’ first offering on secondnature’s own label, and it captures this playful essence. the title track’s stomping groove (complete with rave whistle) sets the tone, while lullaby and what/why move into headier territory composed of dusty synths stabs and clouds of vocal effects. finally, secondnature’s own fugal delivers a remix that flips what/why into a rolling depth charge.

jansport js low begins with the rude assertion that we oughta wake up and be released from our dream state before we absorb what we are about to hear. what follows is 20 concepts identifying the many different states of human existence. the track titles function as a compass. if we began sleep, we are high in the clouds by album-midpoint, before allowing a wake to bring us back to the sobering reality of modern times. love, nostalgia, consciousness and artist integrity, these are some of the themes masterfully weaved in and out of lows soundscapes. jansport stitches together carefully selected samples, nuanced drum loops, and pungent soundbites. by the time you realize you are being serenaded by the revelations of one of americas greatest literary giants, the albums true concept becomes clear: nobody knows whats real and whats not real. but you wake up everyday to try and figure it out anyway.

one of our most mysterious and intriguing states of consciousness is the dream. we lose consciousness when we enter the deep waters of sleep, only to regain it as we emerge into a series of uncanny private realities. through the fog of the mind we can get a glimpse of a world beyond our day to day realities that sometimes is able to show us deeper truths than those we face in awake states. roger is one of those lucid pioneers that is able to translate these experiences into sound. let him guide you through these wondrous clouds. were very happy to welcome dutch-born german-raised roger van lunteren on sohaso for the first time. his rosa dos ventos ep is a four-track story that oozes retro vibes and nostalgia for a past that never seems to have existed. utilizing raw 80’s analog synths and humanoid acid lines he sets atmospheres that remind of lynchian dreamscapes. vanish starts out with an emotional chord sequence, as you enter the fluid world of the subconscious. a gnarly bassline welcomes your arrival and lets you know things here aren’t exactly what they seem. journeying on through seemingly dark areas, it ends with a hopeful melody and the bass softens as you start feeling weightless. uncontacted uses choral pads and two intertwining 303 sequences as a way of communicating between the different dimensions. aroy dee remixing vanish is like taking a psychotropic liquid, adding more drive to the original while retaining the emotive synth patterns. sleepless is rogers hardest cut on the record, again providing directly plugged in 303 goodness and stomping beats. it rounds off a balanced ep with plenty of introspective dance material.

verdant recordings continues its quest to provide a space for lesser-known artists exploring the deepest pockets of electronic music, not least around the 4/4 axis. next up on the label is the first public appearance from interjection, a london-based artist who has been cooking up an immersive sound for some time. her blissful solitude is a smoky deep house cut that drifts through heavy clouds of pads, while common places drops some brittle electro rhythms into the mix without lifting the veil of ambience. radiating soul has an equally intricate set of rhythms at work, with extra notes of 303 sprinkled over the top, and her nocturnal note finishes the ep off with a shimmering trip out to complement the a1.

tom dicicco is best known for his stern techno output, so its intriguing to seem him donning a new alias, veyg, and exploring a new sound palette. as with the last veyg 12inch, the tone here is somewhere around the slower tempo, discoid acid end of the spectrum, and hes made the sound his own. my sweet soul is a dusty affair with squashed drums and looped up bongos rubbing up against trippy globules of lysergic monosynth action. when they fall- is a downcast electro track for rainy sundays, while these feelings waits for the clouds to break and dances on the damp lawn with no shoes on. west of the sun is the most adventurous offering on the 12inch, escaping the 4/4 thud and twirling in an off-grid stylee with ample dub fx tugging the melodic parts around in a mellifluous haze of experimentation.

obsessed with the cosmos, asteroids and relativity, panstarrs of which we know little, except that he is not a total stranger to the electronic scene, nor to technorama, delivers here a first 5 tracks of 100% electro rooted detroit influenced music. influences found in the works of other artists such as drexciya (in all their projects), klaus schultz, tangerine dream, model 500, ectomorph and many others ... with his head in the clouds (the oort one) but with his feet firmly on the ground, panstarrs lives and works on his musical projects from a little-known mountain, somewhere in france, and whose themes are almost always connected to his obsessions. ice and dust is the first opus of this artist who is already working on a first album. a first ep coming out of the depths of space and now is in its own orbit.

hart & tief turns 3. as the most fascinating yet tremendous of creatures, h&t relaunches its sound in every release, like a shiny day that gently welcomes an outrageous storm leaving your body wet and your mind connected with whats next. everlasting artists dave dk & stimming are the chosen ones to break through the clouds and reach the dimension beyond what’s predictable. soulphiction, mike dehnert, robag wruhme and dj koze delivered the first 2 releases, showing what not to expect from the hart & tief state of beat: comforting sounds for predictable minds. let’s turn it upside down: deep emotional trips for like-minded clubbers and artists. non-conformist dancefloors and exacting passionate crowds. hamburg-based, stimming and dave dk have built their experience through uncountable tracks and performances. turning the lights off and playing it loud is what they are best known for. on this special occasion, painting the vinyl specially dark is what they were desiring and the frame brings together two superb tracks: frankfurt main and saida222. stimming has built in a sneaky percussion with an enormous engaging touch. buoyed up by a textured bass, frankfurt main reaches the center of what an in-depth track aims to be. saida222 takes us on a contemplative, introspective and melodic journey, a route usually explored by dave dk in his previous and acclaimed works. both tracks are pushing a refreshing and windy vision that, far beyond from being just obscure, gets us closer to a wise enlightening experience.

back in the area. banoffee pies original imprint continues with bp007. the more serious and leftfield off shoot under the labels wing this time inviting the introduction of two new label members on this 4 track va. toma kami opens the a1 with the title rivershells, a slowly erupting swirl of percussion and progressive drums. a real head turner. the a2 comes from pablo marco with his second addition to banoffee after his breakbeat power track on their black label series imprint earlier in the year. murmuring vocals and a swirling feeling with all about - sure fire dance floor reset button included. the b1. comes from liem & eddie ness, whos split ep with acs on the earlier released bp005 analog acid record was enough to invite a return appearance this time with leftfield fujiyama, and welcoming of k-lone previously known for his involvement on the powerful bristol label, wisdom teeth with a down tempo track with warm spherical sounds.
