12 Inch 02.05.18
the 20/20 vision offshoot basic vision continues to mine the folklore of the legendary back to basics with a selection of carefully selected deep cuts from the history of house music. chris cuevas hip hop already sounded strong when masters at work chunked it up in dub form, and then rob mello perfected the jam when he performed an extended edit on the breakbeat fuelled jam. eddie fowlkes where will i be? is a classic slice of 90s vocal house, while free energy is an uptempo deep house jam for those feel good peak time moments. black science orchestra sound utterly timeless on the soaring new jersey deep, laying the soul on thick and keeping things fresh and funky throughout.

french artist kool vibe is back on his own paris-based label kv records with a new 4 track ep. true to the mission assigned to the label, this release brings us back to the early 90s through basics sounds and elements which have defined deep house since then : fat syncopated rhythms, heavy and groovy basslines, warm chopped vocals. there is something raw and genuine about this record. basics and back to the reala definitely emphasize the minimal and raw side of deep house. tribute is humbly dedicated to the legendary todd terry, whose ultimate knowledge of the art of sampling contributed to shape house music in the early days. at last, sleazy joint (touch it, suck it) closes the record with a nasty and sexy touch. anyway, the whole ep is meant for the dancefloor and the simple pleasure of partying.
(180g yellow colored vinyl, cd included) following smile with etienne de crecy, alex gopher is back with a new four-track ep on his own go4 imprint. french soulful house music!
pocket money returns for their third release and they are back with what could easily be their strongest output yet. just hitting the ripe old age of one, and a couple of releases in, this label has found its stride nicely and starting to turn heads in the scene. taking the spotlight for the deep basics ep is the producer keepin soul, who may only have a handful of releases to his name but puts himself in the spotlight with this deep and meaningful pocket money release. this is a beautifully dusty sounding record, it opens up doing exactly what it says on the tin deep basics and doing them well. this a1 is all about hypnotic grooves undulating against the drive of crisp, warm and exciting percussive grooves.
jeudis sought after limited vinyl only edition is back again. jeudi basics 3rd edition is coming with a huge three tracker. not only co label boss doctor dru but also the great smash tv and roberto calzetta & twin soul got inspired by treasures from the past.
tracks based on originals that are representing the musical background of the jeudi crew. edits of tunes that were part of our musical education and upgrowing. now we have opened the treasure chest again.
after cooperating with other dj s, metacid decided to go back to basics. this 6th release is a true acid experience !! on the a-side expansion just keeps on banging your head with the two 8-steps 303 basslines !!! the clap cuts right trough and the wicked synth turns your head around. this will certainly keep the dancefloor moving. there would be no metacid release without a track fully packed with acid. this track on the b-side alters different beautiful basslines and has a deeper and more progressive feel to it. saur is the last but certainly not the least track on this release. with the acoustic percussion and the strings this track tells a nice story and is perfect for the beginning of the evening.
local talk is proud to present the first release on their sub-label 1nce again. this is where we bring back classic and forgotten house gems from back in the day with new mixes and reworks. with the second release on local talks reissue sub label, 1nce again we bring back one of our personal underground favourites from the golden age of house music (the early 90s). back in 1994 mateo & matos released an ep on black label records entitled raw elements, which included an amazing cut called >maw basics<. its one of those raw 90s house jams that got the house bump but without the pump, its rough and funky but still deep if you know what we mean? no cheese in sight! together with the original track (now fully re-mastered) we also asked gerd (4lux, ny stomp) to make a remix that would stay true to the original but still bring it to the next level. the result is absolutely amazing and we are pretty confident that this baby will deliver knock out punches every time it blasts through a massive sound system in a proper club.
back to the 90s and back on noir. nice7 from italy (gruuv, great stuff, sk supreme, bla bla) are defending their position as top notch classical. four great tracks with pianos and good mood.
following dancefloor burners from esperanzas papol and lucas mari, respectively served with remixes by ekkohaus and g-man, savor finally turns to label numero-uno jorge savoretti for an unabridged ep. 4 tracks with full dj pleasure. (chicagotriptool with well known nuyorical soul ft. india sample)
cristiano balducci presents back to basics, his first release for black catcher records, an ep entirely recorded with sounds from analogue machines, and carefully mixed up with a rhythmic sound. the ultimate goal is to achieve a warm and wrapping product on vinyl while guaranteeing a top quality impact
jamie jones / half inch jack -the return of the legendary back to basics imprint is indeed a menacing affair, with an original track from residents woodall & buckley and remixes from the irrepressible jamie jones and legendary chris duckenfield under his acid guise the >half inch jack<. the original track is named kitch n sync, and is a blistering seven minutes of menacing acid house futurism. an opening salvo of storming rhythms and vocal stabs gives way to a blistering acid bass line and crisp drum production.
