lee burton is the next artist on raum musik and this is his first single for our label. lee is hailing from greece and we were quite happy to receive some demo tracks of him, as he caught our attention already a while ago. his productions are more house related, but always with a nice, modern twist. his powerful sound and also his very well structured sound design could easily be described as his signature and it s definitely worth keeping an eye on him.

matthew burton’s charismatic vielen donk ep is the first release from berlin imprint chord records. four off-kilter techno charmers from the british producer’s analogue world.

steadily building up his profile within the realm of heads down techy house music, lee burton lands on elephant moon with an ep that fizzes with production flair while retaining a serious floor-minded focus. -15:30 (the jam)- bounces along with the kind of slinky, shuffling energy you d expect from an early cynosure record, while -12 angry apes- keeps the swing up while heading towards a more upbeat headspace. -osmosis- is one of the standout jams on the record, managing perfect threads of piano and chord in the mix to make for a sharply honed club track. -racily- then rounds the ep off with a diversion into lush electro, maintaining the soothing tones from the rest of the

** ltd 2016 repress ** the next release on fofs deeper house offshoot sees the labels roster swell to include two producers who are ascending the ranks, their recent >gruff it< track on the hotter than hot >visionquest< label has turned a heads and they look set to continue their upward trajectory. matthew has also released solo projects on john shepheards >retrofit< label as well as providing the debut release for sammy ds >ultrastretch< label. not only that but matthew is currently in the middle of his summer residency at berlins much revered club der visionaere. >take me away< is a pure slice of chord driven deep house and as such is a slight departure for the duo, the melodies inclining towards more melancholic feelings. remixes come from recent fof favourite scahtrax who strips the track right back, injecting a booming bass heavy kick drum & atmospherics to lend the track a more hypnotic tone. label co-owner blm injects a dubbier feel into his take on the flip. finally, matthew burton goes solo for >tell them phill sent ya< - a loose limbed dancefloor workout reminiscent of perlon in their pomp.

greek producers lee burton and mr. statik are already familiar to fans of groove-inducing, deep minimal house, creating intricately woven tracks that spark dancefloors and neurotransmitters in equal measure.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.

the shifted flow 002 ep sees another diverse release from matthew burton & kate rathod. the five tracker also has a couple of collaborations. a2 sees matthew team up with friend, tattooist, and lover of all things analog, bangla design (george from the island of cyprus). while on the flip side b1 sees matthew & kate along side their favourite producer and old friend blm. the whole ep is packed full of moody atmospheric textures and vibes which can be enjoyed at home spaced out or on a dark sweaty dance floor in equal measure

hot on the heels of jay shepheards well received debut album home & garden, retrofit rolls on by welcoming a pair of duos to the label: the berlin/hamburg connection known as session victim, and a couple of hotly tipped london boys called casino times

this is what we call european union. a greek (mr.statik / bpitch) and two italian guys (cosmic cowboys / musik gewinnt freunde) team up for doing this record on the german rotary cocktail label and a french girl (molly / rex club, rekids) and a german gentleman (marc schneider / circus company) are doing great remixes of it. if the politicans would deliver such a good work there would be no problems around!

so this is the first release from myself and kate rathod s new vinyl label which we started so that we could release our more diverse music. this ep ranges from ambient and electronica on one side through to two solid techno tracks on the flip side. future releases will see collaborations with blm, nick lawson, bangla design and more.
