zehn alben lang hat sich bibio mutig zwischen electronica, ambient, folk, pop, indie, funk & soul bewegt. nach ribbons (2019) mit seinem psych-folk-vibe verwendet er für sein zehntes studioalbum mehr synthesizer, drumcomputer und e-gitarren. das ergebnis ist ein werk voller grooves aus hypno-looping-gitarren-licks, lebhaften funk-beats, seidiger disco, strukturierten soul-explorationen und dem unverwechselbaren bibio-ton, reichhaltig, tief, resonant und warm. basierend auf vintage-gitarren als grundstruktur fängt bib10 die essenz seiner bisheriger reise ein, während klare klangliche merkmale und stile den meilenstein in vielerlei hinsicht zu einem partyalbum voller spaß und verspieltheit machen.

saft is proud to present the official re-issue of the 1986 joan bibiloni band classic “the boogie”. the vocals by deborah carter still sound as relevant and uplifting as ever. the sought after guitar licks of bibiloni have appealed to a lot of generations ever since he started making name for himself in the early eighties. while in recent times some of the more experimental work has been re-issued and compiled through some respected labels, the dancefloor classic “the boogie” still remains the pinnacle of the guitarist more dancefloor oriented work.

ausnahmeproduzent bibio präsentiert mit phantom brickworks ein limitiertes minialbum, bestehend aus neun ambient/drone-improvisationen, inspiriert von orten mit einer industriellen historie. parallel zur albumveröffentlichung wird ein 20 bis 30 minütiger film, unterteilt in die einzelnen tracks, erscheinen

nach seinem album a mineral love (2016) folgt nun die zweite limitierte ep des britischen universalgenies bibio. auf den vier tracks der beyond serious ep verarbeitet bibio seine jugendlichen french house-erfahrungen und inspirationen aus der hochphase mitte bis ende der 1990er. mit verzerrten vocals dabei ist sein ehemaliger feature-partner oliver st. louis.

ausgehend von dem neo-soul-track “why so serious?” aus seinem aktuellen album “a mineral love” featuring olivier daysoul on vocals, veröffentlicht bibio nun eine ganze 4-track-ep mit dem wahlberliner soulsänger, der auch mit hudson mohawke und oddisee gearbeitet hat. dabei kombiniert bibio dreampop-instrumentierung mit seichter funk-gitarre und oliviers kraftvoller soulstimme zu einem modernen 80’s-boogie-style-soul voller hooks und popappeal. limitierte 12” auf klarem vinyl mit download-code.

a mineral love- ist ein facettenreiches album mit einflüssen der späten 60er bis hin zur gegenwart, das dabei jedoch immer den unverkennbaren klangcharakter bibios beibehält. das werk ist ein ausdruck von vielfalt, einem elementaren bedürfnis des britischen produzenten, der wohlüberlegt und sorgfältig die unterschiedlichsten tracks nebeneinander platziert. dabei verzichtet er komplett auf samples und spielt jedes detail selbst ein. zusätzlich geben der belgisch australische singer/songwriter gotye und der haitianisch-kameruner us-sänger olivier st. louis zwei vocalfeatures, während der brite rob lee aka wax stag den track gasolines & mirrors co-produziert, auf dem bibio singt.

zehn jahre nach dem originalrelease auf dem kleinen indielabel mush records veröffentlicht warp das debütalbum des britischen electronic-produzenten bibio in neuer auflage. inspiriert durch steve reichs-electric counterpoint ist fi ein exzellentes lofi-werk aus gitarrenkompositionen, die schichtweise in elektronischen klanglandschaften eingebettet sind. ein frühwerk, das es zu entdecken lohnt.
