Joan Bibiloni / Coyote
PINZELLS / SAN RAPHAEL
Aficionado Recordings / Nado004
12 Inch
In the first of an irregular series of split 12 inches, Aficionado open up a side each to some big Mediterranean sounds. On the A is *Pinzells* by Joan Bibiloni. A Spanish guitar maestro based in the Balearics, Bibilonis early LPs are now sought after by collectors from Leeds to Tokyo. *Pinzells* (lifted from his amazing Balears CD) is a majestic, chilled-out guitar piece. Never released on vinyl until now, beaches & sunsets were invented for this beauty.
On the flip we welcome Nottingham’s Coyote. Responsible for the well established Is It Balearic imprint, Timm & Ampo’s modern take on sunshine sounds always hits the spot. ‘San Raphael’ featuring the sublime guitar work of Saro Tribastone & is a dreamy, down-tempo epic, the kind of thing you’d hear on early José Padilla tapes. Very Aficionado. Remix duty on ‘San Raphael’ belongs to those dubby viking’s, Rune Lindbaek & Øyvind Blikstad. They take the originals uplifting guitars to another level before adding some great percussion and a nod towards that 80s afro vibe. A typically epic, space disco journey from our friends in the North. Officially Aficionado![info from wa]
