(moodymann) for urban tribe s debut album >the collapse of modern culture< on mo wax and their latest project >program 1-12< released on kenny dixon jrs label mahogani music and the recent >loyal opposition< releases on planet e. touring as drexciya s official assault dj, stingray collaborated with james stinson for the >other people place ft. mystic tribe a.i.< project on clone in 2002. his two recent albums (>authorized clinical trials< and >acceptable side effects<) and singles for rephlex have remained true to their drexciyan descent, not through imitation but through remorseless innovation in electro aesthetics.

this outstanding piece from jackie misfit, london based deejay, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist presents a harmonic collision between primal africa and western culture. complex in its structure, based on polyphonic singing technique called jodel and articulated together with the dance, pigmy music has much in common with contemporary dance music. the concept was to create the impression that the instruments were played by the tribe to give the impression of being around them. to gain that, jackie used a variety of drums, whistles, harps, instruments built of coconut shells, animal skins and sanza wood by pigmies and vocals recorded in congo rainforest during the tribal rituals. its crafted in the western manner but the inspiration. basic repetitive patterns, vocals and instruments used in this production are original. together with the title that translates as the community of love, and works as homage to the humanitarian organization in congo that is focused on preserving pygmies and their culture.

hailing from miami, dynas has been a creative force within the south florida music community. originating from new york city and born of caribbean parents, dynas has a variety of influences in his music. he has been credited as a true master of ceremonies able to rock a crowd of few to many. he has hosted and performed with the likes of a tribe called quest, nas, and wu tang clan. noted for his ability to visually depict urban tales with melodious harmonies. his artistry is head and shoulders above the normal top 40 music landscape. he has collaborated with def jam recording artists slick rick and universal recording artists big gipp of the goodie mob as well as masta ace.

sdj stingray aka. urban tribe aka. sherard ingram is one of detroits most original techno artists. after recording a legendary downbeat album on mowax, stingray supported drexciya as official dj, which inspired him to developed his own aquatic electro sound. alex cortex has been on the forefront of german techno since the mid nineties, with his first record tubed (1996) being a big clubhit in germany.
