bokhari records is a vinyl only label. bokhari has been inspired by mo wax of old, and firecracker of present where care was/is also taken on packaging and design. each release will feature a different illustrator / artist for the design. musically we will aim to stick loosely within the realms of house and techno, but often with our own slant on it, and as the first release shows, in this case will include some afro percussion and a touch of acid. bokhari 001 only 300 copies will be pressed. artwork for release 001 is by the excellent illustrator andy potts (former head of design at abbey road studios), and every single vinyl will be signed and numbered. remix comes from the ever consistent mark e, who has taken the shrunken head bassline and made a 10 minute druggy, chuggy, loopy, creepy monster (and anything else you want with a ‘y’ at the end!)

props can only be directed to his home base label, tiefschwarz: souvenir music and to his music crony, rampa for nourishing re.you with the swing he needs to deliver the beats fans adore. and every so often he wanders about seeking labels to harvest his funky house seeds in. so when the berlin-based producer and dj planted a mind-blowing, full on dance ep at the mobilee headquarters to kick of the 2012 summer, they were thrilled to watch the magic flourish. the a side is home to mind your head, a funky vocal piece featuring daniel wilde with just the right drops between its smooth grooves. a crazy trip through the mind after a wild night out gives this track a boisterous appeal completely eliminating any dark and heavy elements. junction is on the flip and isn’t too far off the button as it keeps the upbeat tempo grooving with the background percussions. re.you hijacks the mood and keeps the number high-spirited and actively exciting by offering a non-stop party package.

we love this record, it really puts the dub in dubstep. their first two releases have sold out and this has been doing well on promo which shows there is a real market out there for this style which really goes back to the early beginnings of how dubstep came about. on the a you are treated to a full vocal mix with lutan fyah in the booth and on the flip there is a dub mix which roles out nicely.

this london trio drop syrupy euphoria hits for the very late night. their heavy, low-tech sound evokes, in their words, >a synthetic weave stuffed in a floppy drive< or >vaseline smeared on a trax record<. hounds of hate have catalogued diverse movements from their tweens by recreating exact sounds and recording techniques from that era. the conflict is in the naivete of their candid homage opposed by their own pessimism and tendency towards irony.

oh ruin is eoin o ruinaigh, originally from dublin but now residing in london. having started out playing in a host of bands, at one point embarking on a tour supporting morrissey, he has now gone solo and is turning out such six-string gems as the two tracks collected on this single. a beguiling melange of untempered blues and campfire songs which draw on a rich irish folk tradition, eoins songs are intricately drawn sketches accompanied by deftly finger-picked melodies, even performed on guitars made by eoin himself.
